Abstract

Background: This research aims to know about carbon farming and strategies for storing carbon in the soil. Methods: The research method used is qualitative data analysis where this method describes the research conducted by the author by collecting data from scientific journals, books, and research journals. Finding: Respiration plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. However, the balance of plants and humans/animals is now disturbed along with the massive and excessive use of fossil fuels. The result is global warming and uncomfortable conditions and health risks to humans and the planet globally. We are currently paying attention to how carbon dioxide is present in the air due to pollution and industrial waste. Various ways are done, including reducing the consumption of petroleum or fossil fuels. Instead of decreasing, the consumption of fossil fuels has not decreased but has increased along with the pace of industrialization in developing countries. Carbon farming is one method that can be a solution, with the principle that problems are solutions. Conclusion: Many strategies for storing carbon in the soil that we already know. As carbon is absorbed by the soil, the health of the soil will improve so that the health of plants will also increase and yields will increase.

Abstract

Aim: This study aims to determine whether the application of eco enzyme affects the industrial waste activated sludge degradation and to compare the effects of eco enzyme made from oranges and tomatoes. Methodology and results: The experiments were done on the laboratory scale for 12 days by applying 10% of eco enzyme in the sludge samples. It showed both tomatoes and oranges eco enzymes can decrease the pH from 6.9 to 4.7 compared to control which was stable at 6.9. The reduction of COD, TSS, and VSS by tomato eco enzyme applications were 61%, 39% 41% respectively compared to by orange eco enzyme application that showed a higher reduction of 78%, 45%, 46% respectively. The control samples also show the reduction of COD, TSS, and VSS by 21%, 23%, 30% respectively. The reduction of organic content in the control samples of sludge (8.9%) was higher than the samples with eco enzyme (3.5%). Conclusion, significance, and impact study: The results showed that eco enzyme application significant statistically affected reduction of pH, COD, organic content, but not significant statistically on TSS and VSS reductions. Comparing the application of orange and tomatoes eco enzyme did not show the significant different treatment.

Abstract

Currently, a lot of Glass Waste is scratted everywhere. This happens with the increasing use of glass objects for building needs or household appliances. Glass Waste is waste that is considered dangerous if it is disposed of in any place, because it is feared that it will be stepped on or injure other parts of the human body. As we know, Glass Waste is also very difficult to decompose in the soil, and it takes hundreds of years to decompose. Because Glass is not biodegradable substance, landfill are not an environmentally responsible way to dispose of it. As a result, efficient waste glass management is quite important. Scattered Glass Waste will only add to the problem for the environment, and even worse, it will affect climate change. Climate change will result in many negative things for humans and the environment.

Abstract

Due to its distinctive nature, culture, and warm hospitality of the indigenous people, Indonesia is well renowned as a tourist destination. Both domestic and international tourists frequently visit a variety of tourist destinations. While some of the attractions are run by locals, others are overseen by outside organizations or foreign nationals. This study aims to analyze the role of indigenous peoples as their participation the development of tourism in Tanjung Lesung, Banten. To gather qualitative information, participant observation and in-depth interviews were performed. This study revealed that indigenous people may create a feeling of self-worth through communal development. Locals are willing to contribute their resources to the growth of tourism in their area. Increased local community self-esteem may have an impact on the competitiveness of rural tourism.

Abstract

Background: Climate change refers to rapid changes of natural phenomena like weather patterns that are not caused by natural causes. Tourism sector shows its vulnerability to climate change remembering that this sector really depends on the climate condition. This paper aims to explore the vulnerability of tourism to climate change, tourism under climate change scenarios, and tourism adaptation to climate change using literature review method. This paper also includes the estimation on global impact of climate change tourism industry. Many researchers agreed that a solid framework needs to be established as an effort to adapt and mitigate climate change. One form of effort to achieve this is by environmental education, provision of loans, green tourism, eco-tourism, and environmental conservation projects. Nevertheless, this is not an all-fit in solutions, further research needs to be established to build a solid framework that involves all stakeholders. Methods: This paper is arranged using a literature review method sherached from many resources on the internet. The tourism vulnerability is really affected by climate change. Findings: This paper aims to explore vulnerability of tourism to climate change, tourism under climate change scenarios, and tourism adaptation to climate change. Conclusion: The tourism industry requires many sources of energy such as water, electricity, fossil fuel, etc., hence evaluating the system and framework is important to keep the sustainability and its resilience to climate change.
