Abstract

Energy is a crucial requirement for the survival of humans. The increasing demand for energy necessitates the exploration of alternative, renewable energy options. One potential avenue is the utilization of biomass energy from waste tofu residue to produce briquettes. Rice husk is chosen as an additive to enhance the calorific value of the briquettes. The objective of this research is to identify the properties of briquettes made from tofu residue and rice husk, including moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and calorific value, in accordance with the standard (SNI–01-6235–2000). Briquettes are produced by combining tofu residue, rice husk, and tapioca flour in three variations: 30:20:17:33, 25:25:17:33, and 20:30:17:33, respectively. The research results, using ANOVA analysis, indicate that the composition of the mixture variations significantly affects the parameters of moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, and calorific value in laboratory tests. Furthermore, t-Test analysis reveals that the parameters that significantly meet the briquette standard according to SNI–01-6235–2000 are moisture content and calorific value. In conclusion, the composition of briquette mixture variations influences the test results, and the moisture content parameter significantly complies with the briquette standard according to SNI–01-6235–2000. However, ash content, volatile matter, and calorific value parameters do not yet meet the briquette standard according to SNI–01-6235–2000. Therefore, utilizing tofu residue as a renewable energy source in the form of briquettes could be considered, with some aspects requiring further refinement to meet the standard.

Abstract

Climate change is produced by a shift in the planet's energy balance, which determines how much of the energy from the sun that enters the earth (and its atmosphere) is released back into space. The planet gains energy when we lower the quantity of solar radiation reflected into space, just as individuals gain weight when there is an imbalance between calories in and calories out [1]. Climate change is an important thing that we must note, the climate may change but in the change there are things that we must consider, namely about the impact of climate change, this is related to SDG 13 which seeks to combat climate change and overcome its impacts. The SDG 13.1 target specifically aims to strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters. Such events represent the cutting edge of climate change. The frequency and intensity increase. There are many ways to mitigate and adapt to climate change some that we can do by apply of Nature Based Solution to Climate change and Ecosystem based adaptation that can be expected to play an effective role in climate change mitigation strategies. In addition, there are several things that must be considered in terms of social, environmental and also economic so that what we apply in handling climate change can be optimal and work well, the object in this discussion is about Nature Based Solution and Ecosystem Based Adaptation how effective it is to overcome climate change problems by using several methods such are measurements, vulnerability, a case, tools, several data and evidence that ultimately in this discussion proved that both are very helpful and effective in adaptation and mitigation to climate change. Nature based solution and ecosystem based adaptation are both things that cannot be separated because both are one part that has the same function in one way of handling climate change.

Abstract

The decline in visitors during the COVID-19 outbreak is one of the factors affecting the profitability of tourist destinations. This condition is challenging for developing tourist villages, especially the Hegarmukti tourist village. Several activity restrictions during the COVID-19 outbreak have made community-based tourism development programs experience obstacles. Through this community service activity, the 4C model analysis (Conservation, Community, Culture, and Commerce) is to be applied to optimize the growth of the Hergarmukti tourist village. The activity begins with a semi-formal interview process and observations to gather information. Through this activity, it was revealed that some potential has not been exploited, especially in terms of natural and cultural tourism. Socialization activities by conducting capacity-building workshops for preserving natural ecosystems through waste management were conducted with the Situ Rawa Binong residents. Besides, cultural promotion activities through local art performances displayed by the Cahaya Gumilar Art Gallery also attract tourists. To run a sustainable tourism village, the community requires soft skills training in tourism and marketing. The study also offers several possible tourist attractions to stimulate the local economy.

Abstract

Effective and standard-compliant household waste management is a challenge for the industry. PT X, a vehicle tire manufacturer, produces both industrial and household waste. Despite having a good management system, waste is still temporarily stored in open areas without separation, causing soil contamination, odors, and complaints from external parties. This study aims to calculate the waste generation and volume based on categories to design a Temporary Waste Storage Facility that complies with national regulations and supports the implementation of the 5S method. The implementation of the 5S method will improve the household waste management system at PT X, which will reduce the risk of pollution and improve operational practices in the Household Temporary Waste Storage at PT X. Data collection was conducted over eight days through direct measurements in the field in accordance with SNI 3964:2025. The analysis results showed that waste generation consisted of 622 kg/day of residual waste, 765 kg/day of recyclable waste, and 752 kg/day of organic waste. The average daily volume recorded was 2.600 m³/day of residual waste, 3.182 m³/day of recyclable waste, and 2.088 m³/day of organic waste. Based on this data, the Temporary Waste Storage design includes a zone storage division according to waste type, loading and unloading areas, operational corridors, and Temporary Waste Storage maintenance support items.

Abstract

Indonesia is ranked in the top 5 coffee production countries in the world with the largest production being Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. Approximately ninety percent of coffee produced in Indonesia is being exported and as the trend in local consumption increases, the demand for coffee is escalating. However, future coffee production is challenged by climate change. Background: This paper outlines the impacts of climate change variables including environmental stressors on coffee production quality and quantity of Arabica and Robusta species, discusses the influences on suitable areas for coffee cultivation and the coffee pests related to coffee productivity, as well as suggests mitigation and adaptation approaches in Indonesia. Methods: The literature review approach was utilized to complete this paper which involves collecting, analyzing, and correlating the findings of prior studies. The paper only considered literature with the following terms in the title; climate change impact, coffee production, mitigation, adaptation, and Indonesia. Finding: Increasing temperature degrades coffee production both in Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. The overall suitable area for cultivating coffee is shifting towards higher altitudes However, Indonesia is projected to lose more than half of the suitable area for cultivating Arabica by the year 2050. Climate change improves coffee pests' thermal tolerance and enables them to grow in warm temperatures. Conclusion: Common mitigation approaches include shade plantation and soil moisturization control which both improve coffee productivity. Another strategy is the cultivation calendar modified the coffee life cycle with climate prediction.
