Abstract

Postpartum mothers often face challenges in producing sufficient breast milk for their infants, with factors such as stress, muscle tension, and lack of breast care affecting lactation. Woolwich Massage, a technique involving gentle massage around the breast area, is believed to stimulate blood circulation, improve circulation, and provide relaxation, thereby enhancing milk production. This study aims to examine the effect of Woolwich Massage on breast milk production in postpartum mothers. The research utilized an experimental pre-test and post-test design with two groups: an intervention group that received regular Woolwich Massage and a control group that did not receive the intervention. The results showed that the intervention group had a significant increase in breast milk production, with an average increase of 40 ml per session over two weeks, compared to the control group, which showed a smaller increase of 10 ml per session. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test revealed significant differences in both groups (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that Woolwich Massage is effective in stimulating blood circulation around the breast and helps increase milk production. Additionally, the relaxation effects of the massage aid in reducing stress, which further supports milk production. This study suggests that Woolwich Massage can be considered an effective non-pharmacological therapy for enhancing breast milk production in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Introduction: The family planning program can reduce maternal mortality for mothers. The side effects of using 3-month injectable contraceptives are changes in the hormone progesterone or weight gain. The factors that influence weight gain for acceptors who use 3-month injectable birth control are length of use, parity, and physical activity. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of factors that contribute to weight gain. Methods: This study used a cross sectional research design. Data collection was carried out using the observation method with a total sample of 20 respondents. Data analysis technique using Chi Square test with p value <0.05. Results: The results of the study using the chi square test showed that the p value of parity was 0.04, the p value of length of use of birth control was 0.4, and the p value of physical activity was 0.01. Conclusion: Parity and physical activity have a significant relationship with the increase in body weight of acceptors who use 3-month injectable family

Abstract

Introduction: Anxiety during pregnancy poses a significant risk to both maternal and infant health. To address this, pregnant women's classes offer a group learning platform focused on various aspects of health during this period, including childbirth, postpartum care, and newborn care. These classes incorporate practical sessions utilizing the KIA Book. This study specifically aimed to determine the relationship between attending these classes and the anxiety levels of pregnant women in their third trimester as they approach labor. Research Methods: This study employed a quantitative analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. Data was collected from 30 respondents using the HARS questionnaire. For analysis, we used SPSS and performed a Chi-Square test, with a p-value of less than 0.05 indicating statistical significance. Research Results: Our research, conducted on the 30 respondents, yielded a p-value of 0.036 from the Chi-Square test, which is less than 0.05. Conclusion: Based on these findings, we conclude that there is a significant relationship between participation in pregnant women's classes and the level of anxiety experienced by third-trimester pregnant women facing labor at the Sabrang Health Center.
