Abstract

Background; Pomade is an oily or waxy substance used for hairstyles. The pomade looks shiny, smooth and not dry. The properties of pomade make hairstyles look neater, while long-lasting moisturizing properties are popular with textured individuals. Method; This research was carried out experimentally, including the manufacture of ethanol extract of the banana flower petals of Kepok (Musa paradisiaca L.) using the maceration method of a combination of VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) oil with the fishing method as a pomade preparation, with a concentration of 2%, 4%, 6%. Physical quality examination, namely organoleptic test, pH, homogeneity, stability, spreadability, irritation based on SNI 16-4955-1998, and effectiveness test using volunteers. Results; In this study, it was found that preparations that showed or showed good orgnoleptic at a concentration of 2%, 4%, 6%, fulfilled the homogeneity requirements at a concentration of 2%, 4%, 6%, good dispersion at a concentration of 4%, the irritation test did not irritate. skin, pH test has a pH value according to the pH value of pomade, good stability aimed at a concentration of 2% for 14 days. The results of the effectiveness test of pomade preparations concentrations of 2%, 4%, 6% obtained effective results at 5 hours of use compared to those on days 1, 2, 3.Use 5 hours with the category of tidy 100%, durable 66.67%, no durable 33.33%, and easy 100% of 9 volunteers. Conclusion; From this research, the ethanol extract of Kepok banana flower petals with a combination of VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) can be formulated into pomade preparations and the stable formula is one that contains ethanol extract of Kepok banana flower petals with a 2% concentration of VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil).

Abstract

Background: Coffee is a type of plant that contains caffeine and can be made into a delicious drink. Currently, coffee is the world's most popular drink after water and tea. The stuay aimed was to determine the caffeine content in Arabica ground coffee circulating in the Takengon market according to Indonesian national standards (SNI 01-7152-2006). This research was experimental by taking samples purposively. The research method used was phytochemical screening, qualitative analysis, and ultraviolet spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 273nm. The specified validation parameters were precision, linearity, LOD and LOQ. The results of the phytochemical screening of sample A in the Meyer test treatment obtained negative results but the others were positive. And in sample B, all tests were positive. In the three qualitative analyses tests on samples A and B, the results were positive. The average yield of quantitative analysis in sample A was 11.632 mg once and the daily concentration was 34.897mg. while in sample B the level was 6.663 mg once and drank 19.989mg per day. Validation test results obtained linearity r2 = 0.998, LOD and LOQ namely 0.882µg/ml and 2.94µg/ml, RSD value of 1.11%. Based on the conclusion, sample A and sample B met the requirements according to SNI 2006 (50mg once and 150mg daily) and also met the requirements according to the Pharmacopoeia Edition III, namely a maximum dose of 500 mg once and 1.5g daily.

Abstract

Background; Carrots are famous for the high beta carotene content in the fruit along with other vitamins, namely vitamin B and vitamin E. Vitamin E's role in the skin includes antioxidant, maintaining skin moisture, sun protection, and wound healing process. As a natural antioxidant, vitamin E is able to counteract free radicals and oxygen molecules. Objective:  To find out carrot juice (Daucus carota L.) can be formulated as a scrub cream as anti-aging and to find out at what concentration is the most effective in the preparation of carrotle scrub cream (Daucus carota L.) as anti-aging. Methods: This type of research was conducted experimentally. This research includes collecting respondents, measuring moisture content, smoothness, pores, blemishes, and wrinkles on the skin of respondents, making carrot juice, making scrub preparations from carrotle and evaluating preparation tests. Results: The use of scrub cream preparations containing carrotle (Daucus carota L.) concentration of 15% for 4 weeks showed changes in skin condition for the better with increased water content of 19.3 to 40 (107.25%), smoother skin smoothness of 36.3 to 20.6 (43.25%), shrinking pores 64 to 20.6 (67.81%), many blemishes were reduced 51 to 11.3 (77.97%), wrinkles that were reduced on the respondent's skin showed better results obtained, namely changes in wrinkles 45 to 13.6 with a recovery percent of (69.77%). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that carrottle (Daucus carota L.) can be formulated as a scrub cream as anti-aging.

Abstract

Serai (Cymbopogon citratus) mengandung Alkaloid, Flavonoid, dan beberapa monoterpene. Zat-zat ini berfungsi sebagai antiprotozoal, anti-inflamatori, antimikrobial, antibakterial, anti-diabetik, antikolinesterase, molluscidal, dan antifungal. Propionibacterium acnes merupakan bakteri gram positif berbentuk batang dan merupakan flora normal kulit yang ikut berperan dalam pembentukan jerawat, Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efektivitas antibakteri emulgel ekstrak serai (Cymbopogon Citratus.) pada semua konsentrasi yang dapat memberikan efek sebagai antibakteri serta membandingkan efektivitasnya dengan Veril Gel.  Jenis penelitian ini dilakukan secara eksperimental terdiri dari penyiapan sampel, identifikasi sampel, pembuatan ekstrak serai, skrining fitokimia, Formulasi sediaan emugel F0 : basis emulgel, F1(1%), F2(3%) dan F3(5%), evaluasi terhadap sediaan emulgel meliputi uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji pH, uji cycling test, uji tipe emulsi serta uji aktivitas efek antibakteri, penelitian dilakukan di Lab Mikrobiologi Farmasi Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Haji Smuatera Utara Hasil ekstrak serai diperoleh rendemen ekstrak sebesar 13%. Hasil uji skrining fitokimia terhadap flavonoid, saponin, terpenoid, tanin adalah positif, dan alkaloid negatif. Hasil Evaluasi sediaan emulgel diperoleh hasil untuk uji organoleptis Emulgel F0,F1,F2,F3 memiliki bentuk setengah padat, F0 memiliki warna putih susu, F1 memiliki warna putih kecoklatan, F2,F3 memiliki warna coklat, F0 memiliki bau tween 80, dan F1,F2,F3 memiliki bau khas ekstrak serai. Hasil uji homogenitas emulgel F0,F1,F2 dan F3  adalah homogen. Hasil uji pH memiliki pH rata rata 5,6. Hasil uji cycling test sediaan emulgel tidak memisah. Hasil uji tipe emulsi membentuk tipe emulsi M/A, dan hasil uji antibakteri pada sediaan emulgel F0,F1,F2,F3 tidak memiliki daya hambat. Sedangkan Veril gel sebagai kontrol (+) memiliki daya hambat sebesar 3,5mm Kesimpulan Emulgel ekstrak Serai (Cymbopogon citratus.) dapat diformulasikan kedalam bentuk sediaan emulgel yang memenuhi persyaratan dalam evaluasi sediaan. Akan tetapi uji daya hambat Pada Sediaan emulgel ekstrak etanol serai tidak memiliki daya hambat terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acne. Hal yang menyebabkan tidak adanya daya hambat antibakteri pada sediaan emulgel yang telah diuji pada bakteri Propionibacterium acne hal ini dikarenakan rendahnya konsentrasi ekstrak serai yang diformulasikan kedalam sediaan emulgel sehingga tidak terdapatnya daya hambat.

Abstract

Acne is an infection caused by the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus Aureus with symptoms of inflammation in the facial area. Acne is a social disease that often occurs in adolescence and adulthood. Acne can be treated using antibiotics by considering the side effects on body systems and organ functions. Purpose of this study was to make and evaluate anti-acne cream preparations and their activity against Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. This research is a quasi-experimental type of research with before and after the experiment. In this study, observations and organoleptic tests were carried out before and after to see the effect of giving the sample extract on the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes.the results showing that papaya leaf extract (Carica Papaya L.) can inhibit the growth of the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes can be done with the diameter of the inhibition zone using a caliper for the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes which is fermented from NA to produce a yellow pigment which indicates the growth of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes on the media, where Bacterial colonies will grow around the yellow zone. Each petri dish was then added with NA media (Sodium Agar) and propionibacterium acnes suspension, the concentration was observed after the petri dish was incubated in the incubator for 24 hours at 37cC. After being observed, it turned out that all petri dishes at each concentration showed a clear zone around the concentration of papaya leaf extract (Carica Papaya L.).
