Abstract

The Sekaten ceremony in Yogyakarta has been preserved for centuries as part of the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth. This study analyzes how three central rituals of the Sekaten, namely Miyos Gongso, Miyos Dalem, and Grebeg Mulud, function as symbolic media for transmitting Islamic devotion, ethical guidance, and communal solidarity through Javanese cultural forms. The research applies a qualitative descriptive approach with a phenomenological and symbolic framework. Data are based on textual and historical sources that document Islamic acculturation and ritual practice. The analysis employs hermeneutic interpretation supported by triangulation of data and theory as well as interpretative phenomenological analysis to strengthen credibility and depth of interpretation. The findings show that Miyos Gongso conveys Islamic teachings through gendhing compositions that emphasize sincerity, repentance, and purity while remaining embedded in Javanese musical aesthetics. Miyos Dalem presents the Prophet’s biography as a form of ritual pedagogy that promotes ethical emulation and parallels the manaqib tradition. Grebeg Mulud culminates the celebration with gunungan offerings that express gratitude to God, dramatize life’s struggles, and reinforce communal solidarity through shared participation. The study demonstrates that the spread of Islam in Java was achieved not by rejecting existing traditions but by reinterpreting them symbolically. The Sekaten illustrates how Islamic values were embedded in cultural practices, producing a synthesis that remains socially persuasive and spiritually meaningful. This case contributes to scholarship on religion and culture by showing how faith becomes localized through cultural engagement and symbolic negotiation.

Abstract

Hate speech has become a significant problem in the modern era, causing social tensions and negative impacts on individuals’ mental health. The spread of hate speech through social media and digital platforms exacerbates polarization and conflicts between groups, demanding effective solutions to address these social impacts. This research aims to explain the concept of hifdzul lisan according to Al-Ghazali and examine its application as a solution to the problem of hate speech. The research method used is descriptive-analytical with an Islamic psychology approach, utilizing primary and secondary sources to explore the topic. The findings indicate that hate speech is a harmful societal issue that Al-Ghazali’s concept of hifdzul lisan emphasizes ethical speech and avoiding harmful words, and that applying the principles of hifdzul lisan can serve as a solution to mitigate and address hate speech by promoting more constructive and respectful communication. This study provides an academic contribution by integrating Al-Ghazali’s concept of Hifdzul Lisan into modern communication ethics to examine the phenomenon of hate speech, while socially contributing by raising public awareness to safeguard speech in any spaces for the sake of fostering tolerance and harmony.

Abstract

Homoseksual adalah bentuk ketertarikan terhadap individu yang berjenis kelamin sama, baik secara perasaan ataupun secara erotik, dengan atau tidak melibatkan hubungan fisik. American Psychiatric Association dan American Psychological Association sebagai organisasi besar yang kredibel telah mengeluarkan penelitian-penelitian yang menjadi bukti-bukti ilmiah yang mendukung klaim mereka bahwa homoseksual bukanlah mental disorders. Makalah ini akan memaparkan point-point bukti ilmiah yang dikeluarkan dua organisasi besar ini dan menganalisisnya dengan tujuan untuk membuktikan apakah klaim tentang homoseksualitas bukanlah bagian dari mental disorder. Lalu akan dibahas juga bagaimana pandangan islam terhadap homoseksual. Penelitian ini berbentuk kualitatif yang berjenis library research dan metode yang digunakan adalah diskriptif-analisis. Adapun hasil yang ditemukan adalah Pertama, penulis menemukan adanya kerancuan argumen dan kebijakan para Psikolog professional yang tergabung dalam dua organisasi besar Amerika tentang Homoseksual yang sebelumnya merupakan abnormal menjadi normal. Kedua, perubahan tersebut tentu dipengaruhi dengan nilai-nilai yang berkembang dalam worldview Barat, seperti “ever shifting” yang selalu berubah-rubah. Ketiga, beberapa argumen yang dibangun oleh para pendukung homoseksualitas atas kenormalannya tentu bertentangan dengan cara pandang Islam (Worldview of Islam).

Abstract

This study seeks to analyze the epistemological problems from the theories of feminism and their critical point of legalizing abortion from the perspective of sharī'ah through the analysis of fiqh dharūrāt. The method applied is descriptive-analytical with a philosophical approach that aims to analyze the paradigm behind the Dominance Theory, Critical Race Theory, and Postmodernism Theory, which feminists have promoted as the protection of women. The results of this study conclude that dominance theory provides the legality of abortion rights based on the doctrine of the sovereignty of a female’s body without being bounded by morals or other values, including religion. Critical Race Feminist theory used the standard of abortion by considering women's discrimination experiences between white women and black women that create the issue of reproductive health as a form of fulfilling the right of all women's authority to get reproductive health services and determine the future of their bodies. Similarly, postmodern theory explains the legality of abortion rights without being bound by specific moral standards, and the assessment of good and lousy abortion behavior was not left by the justification of society but by the beliefs of the woman. Based on the philosophical basis of the three feminist theories above, the standard of dharūrāt on abortion rights becomes relative and flexible. Fiqh dharūrāt provided the guidance to prevent women from being trapped into relativism so that they could remain in the guidance of revelation and guidance of the sharī'ah.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini untuk merespon sistem pendidikan yang diterapkan kepada santri dengan masalah kurangnya melakukan penguasaan materi dan praktik pengetahuan akidah akhlak dengan baik, alih-alih santri dikeluhkan kurang responsif dan hanya menekankan pembelajaran model hafalan saja. Metode yang digunakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini terdiri observasi lapangan (wawancara, dialog partisipatif, dan survey lokasi), pelaksanaan, dan monitoring serta evaluasi. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di TPQ Sayyidah Fathimah Kediri pada tanggal 30 Agustus 2025 – 6 September 2025. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan santri TPQ Sayyidah Fathimah Kediri cukup adaptif dengan pembelajaran model pendidikan progresif, sehingga kegiatan ini lebih mengarah kepada implikasi internal. Dari segi teknis, yang berkaitan produk fisik, pendidikan progresif mengharuskan menciptakan fasilitator dengan menyediakan alat tulis menulis dan ruang pengembangan diri berupa soal ujian untuk melihat kualitas pengetahuan yang diajarkan kepada TPQ Sayyidah Fathimah Kediri. Dari segi capaian materi pengetahuan, representasi tingkat sikap responsif santri TPQ Sayyidah Fathimah Kediri sangat baik sekali dengan adaptasi mereka terhadap pembelajaran model pendidikan progresif. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan prosentase angka nilai ujian akidah akhlak banyak di atas rata-rata, yang mencakup materi teori pemahaman dan ketajaman aktualisasi dari sikap aplikatif sehari-hari.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of tolerance in Tariq Ramadan's thought as a solution to the identity crisis faced by contemporary Muslims, making Ramadan's tolerance the primary unit of analysis. This research aims to examine how the construction of tolerance offered by Ramadan—which is rooted in Islamic spirituality, dialogue ethics, and psychological awareness—can serve as a framework for restoring the Muslim identity amidst the dynamics of globalization, plurality, and modern cultural pressures. Utilizing library research methods with a qualitative, descriptive, and analytical approach, as well as content analysis, this study examines primary works by Ramadan, along with relevant secondary literature on tolerance, Muslim identity, and Islamic psychology. The study's findings reveal that Ramadan rejects the model of passive tolerance based on power relations and proposes an alternative model of active tolerance, grounded in tawhid, the recognition of God's will in diversity, and the integration of qalb, reason, and social ethics. An analysis of Islamic psychology reveals that tolerance within the framework of Ramadan has a spiritual dimension that can help overcome the crises of meaning, alienation, and identity polarization. The contribution of this research lies in presenting a conceptual model of tolerance with Islamic psychological nuances that can serve as the basis for strengthening Muslim identity, as well as the development of educational, counseling, and intergroup dialogue practices in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Contemporary global challenges such as relativism, the fragmentation of meaning, and the increasing escalation of religion-related conflicts demonstrate the urgency of strengthening interfaith dialogue as a means of fostering social harmony, tolerance, and peace within society. In this context, this study analyzes Hamka’s interpretation of Qur’anic verses in Tafsir al-Azhar to explore how Islamic theological principles can guide constructive interreligious relations. Using a qualitative philosophical approach and thematic analysis of verses pertaining to interfaith relations, this research systematically identifies the key concepts emphasized by Hamka. The study finds that Hamka affirms three fundamental foundations of interreligious interaction: (a) the principle of universal human dignity, (b) justice and ethical responsibility toward others, and (c) guidance for peaceful coexistence rooted in Qur’anic moral values. The study also finds that Hamka underscores these principles as the basis for interreligious relations. Conceptually, this research contributes to the development of Islamic philosophy of religion; practically, it offers a normative framework to support tolerance, coexistence, and peace among diverse religious communities amid contemporary global challenges.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi keilmuan dan pedagogis guru di Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Kampus 2 dalam pembelajaran aqidah berbasis kitab Aqidatul ‘Awam. Kegiatan ini merespons keterbatasan guru yang mayoritas memahami tauhid sebatas hafalan tekstual tanpa pendalaman konteks. Menggunakan metode Participatory Action Research (PAR), program ini melibatkan 35 guru pengabdian melalui tahapan workshop, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Materi pelatihan difokuskan pada tiga pilar utama: Ilahiyat (ketuhanan), Nubuwwat (kenabian), dan Sam’iyyat (metafisika), serta respons terhadap isu aqidah kontemporer melalui diskusi interaktif dan simulasi pengajaran. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, di mana rata-rata skor peserta naik dari 30–40% pada pre-test menjadi 75–80% pada post-test. Selain penguatan kognitif, peserta menunjukkan kemajuan dalam keterampilan pedagogis dan penyusunan kerangka berpikir tauhid yang sistematis. Simpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa workshop terstruktur berbasis kitab klasik efektif mengokohkan fondasi ideologis guru guna mendukung upaya ḥifẓ al-dīn di lingkungan pesantren modern.

Abstract

This training is designed to enhance the understanding of students regarding the Fiqh of Muamalah and to improve their English and Arabic language skills. The Fiqh of Muamalah curriculum covers fundamental principles of interaction and transactions according to Islamic law, aiming to equip students with the ability to understand, analyze, and apply fiqh principles in daily life contexts. The English and Arabic language enhancement program is intended to strengthen students' communication skills in foreign languages, which serve as essential assets for facing global challenges. The teaching methods include interactive lectures, group discussions, practical muamalah simulations, and intensive language practice through dialogues and presentations. This program is expected to produce students who are not only proficient in understanding the Fiqh of Muamalah but also competent in English and Arabic, preparing them to be an outstanding generation in religious knowledge and language skills in the globalization era.
