Abstract

Background: Smoking behavior is an activity that can cause health problems for both smokers and people in their environment. The high prevalence of tobacco consumption has caused cigarette problems to become more serious. Increasing cigarette consumption results in a higher impact of diseases due to smoking and an increase in the death rate due to smoking, it is estimated that by 2030, the death rate of smokers in the world will reach 10 million people. Smokers in Indonesia in 2013 and 2018 remained at 24.3%, the age group of 20-24 years as the early adult group, in 2013 as much as 27.2% to 27.3% in 2018, meaning that the government's efforts to reduce the number of smokers have not been successful. To quit smoking, various ways can be done, such as counseling to change the knowledge, attitudes and actions of smokers, hypnotherapy and Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT). SEFT therapy combines spiritual power and psychological energy, so the therapy results are amplified because it is accompanied by prayer. The principle of work is more or less the same as acupuncture and acupressure by stimulating key points along the body's 12 energy pathways (energy meridians). Objective: To analyze the average cigarette consumption before and after SEFT therapy. Method: Quasi-experimental research experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The number of samples was 50 respondents by measuring the average amount of cigarette consumption after 7 days of therapy. Study results: The average number of cigarettes consumed after SEFT therapy decreased from 13.16 cigarettes to 5.28 cigarettes based on the Wilcoxon test, a ρ Value of 0.00 was produced. Conclusion: SEFT therapy can reduce the intensity of smoking consumption. Suggestion: Smokers who want to quit smoking can do it with the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT).

Abstract

Information technology has become an important instrument in public health services, including in needs surveys and health education. This community service activity aims to implement Google Forms as a needs analysis survey tool and evaluate the effectiveness of adolescent reproductive health education in Loa Ulung Village, Kutai Kartanegara. The method used is community education with a pre-post test design approach using digital platforms. A needs survey was conducted on 46 adolescents aged 10-19 years using Google Forms to identify educational material priorities. Survey results showed four main priorities: smoking hazard socialization, adolescent reproductive health (HIV/AIDS), sexually transmitted infections, and mental health-substance abuse. Mental health education implementation showed score improvement from 6.70 to 7.04 (p=0.136), while HIV/AIDS education increased from 7.43 to 7.80 (p=0.155). Although the increase was not statistically significant, there was an improvement in adolescent knowledge. The educational game "VIRAL" (Verify Information, Reject All Lies) effectively increased understanding of HIV/AIDS myths and facts. Google Forms utilization proved efficient in remote data collection and community needs analysis, supporting health information technology implementation in remote areas.

Abstract

Indonesia reports approximately 540,000 HIV cases according to UNAIDS data, with rural adolescents experiencing significant knowledge gaps regarding HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention. Educational interventions are crucial for addressing these deficits, particularly in remote areas with limited healthcare information access. This research to evaluate the effectiveness of socialization interventions on HIV/AIDS knowledge among rural adolescents in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. A quasi-experimental pre-post study design was conducted among 47 adolescents aged 10-17 years in Loa Ulung Village, East Kalimantan. The intervention utilized leaflets and interactive two-way discussions covering HIV/AIDS transmission modes and prevention strategies. Data collection employed a validated 10-item questionnaire administered pre- and post-intervention. Statistical analysis included Shapiro-Wilk normality testing and Wilcoxon signed-rank test for non-parametric comparisons. Pre-intervention knowledge scores averaged 7.43 (SD=1.500), increasing to 7.81 (SD=1.715) post-intervention. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed no statistically significant difference (p=0.128), with a normalized gain score of 0.14 indicating low effectiveness. Persistent misconceptions included: 63.8% incorrectly believing all HIV-infected individuals develop AIDS, 23.4% thinking HIV transmits through sharing utensils, and 17.0% believing shared toilets cause transmission. Single-session educational interventions demonstrated limited effectiveness in improving HIV/AIDS knowledge among rural adolescents. Future programs should incorporate age-appropriate, interactive methodologies with extended duration and follow-up sessions for optimal outcomes in rural Indonesian settings.
