Abstract

Diabetes mellitus results in both microvascular and macrovascular complications due to inadequately managed glucose levels over an extended period. A notable complication is peripheral neuropathy, which arises from compromised peripheral circulation. Implementing Buerger Allen Exercises and Foot Exercises can enhance circulation and mitigate these complications, with effectiveness assessed using the ankle-brachial index. This study aims to evaluate the differential efficacy of Buerger Allen Exercises compared to Foot Exercises in improving peripheral perfusion among patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus affiliated with the Patrang Community Health Center. The research employs a quasi-experimental design featuring a pretest-posttest two-group format. The study sample consists of 30 respondents diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The intervention, which included both Buerger Allen Exercises and Foot Exercises, was conducted once and lasted 20 minutes. The results indicate that the Buerger Allen Exercise group exhibited an average ankle-brachial index value of 0.992, while the Foot Exercise group yielded an average value of 0.900. The obtained p-value (0.004) was less than or equal to the alpha level of 0.005. Therefore, a statistically significant difference exists between the Buerger Allen Exercise intervention group and the Foot Exercise group. In conclusion, the Buerger Allen Exercise intervention is more effective than the Foot Exercise regimen in enhancing peripheral perfusion, as evidenced by the measured ankle-brachial index values.

Abstract

Community service through health checks in villages that are far from access to health on the international stage is an initiative to overcome this inequality. Therefore, the University of Dr. Soebandi actively plays a role in developing health internationally by carrying out community service through non-communicable disease screening activities in neighboring countries, namely Timor Leste, specifically in the Seloi Malere suco, Aileu district. Through this approach, it is hoped that early detection of health problems can be carried out, increase awareness about health in the community, build international cooperation, and contribute to more equitable global health development. The stages carried out before carrying out this community service activity were confirmation with the Seloi Malere tribal chief, after that the tribal chief met with the xefe aldeia (RW head) from Kabas Fatin, Cotabauru and Maurusa for coordination with the residents, the day of implementation, and the location where the activity is carried out. In the examination data, it was also found that many people in Aileu District have high blood pressure.

Abstract

Assessment of the impacts of urban change at the neighborhood level provides a unique opportunity to generate insights into the extent and nature of positive and negative impacts on health-related outcomes. Several specific components and mechanisms that cause urban change can influence behavior, perception and self-care, thereby impacting health. The high prevalence of non-communicable diseases, one of which is Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus occurs when the body stops producing sufficient amounts of insulin, or when the body does not use insulin properly (something known as insulin resistance). in 2021 in the Jember urban area it will reach 1,700, one of which is due to lifestyle factors in the urban environment. One strategy for dealing with type 2 diabetes mellitus is to optimize the prevention of type 2 diabetes and associated comorbidities with a therapeutic approach, one of which is optimizing self-care which can reduce complications, reduce cardiovascular and kidney risks, and improve health outcomes. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between disease perception and the self-care skills of type II diabetes mellitus patients. This research used a cross sectional method with a total of 100 respondents, data collection used a disease perception questionnaire and a quality of life questionnaire which were given to respondents directly. The results of the chi square test research obtained a value of p = 0.030 or < (0.05), so Ha was accepted, meaning that there was a relationship between disease perception and the quality of life of type II diabetes mellitus patients. The conclusion obtained from this research is that there is a relationship between perception of illness and self-care skills. The increase in good self-care skills is due to good perception.. Abstract

One of the main barriers to cancer prevention and early detection is the general lack of awareness of cancer risk factors, symptoms, and screening options. Improving long-term cancer outcomes requires increasing public knowledge through interesting strategies with mobile app called PEKA. This study aims to identify cancer awareness among adults by given education mobile-app. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with 75 respondents. Descriptive analysis of the data was utilized to compile awareness and demographic traits. The result shows mostly 39,7% was answer incorrectly about cancer warning sign, 52% doesn’t know the screening programme, and the descriptive response displays a variety of responses. The results emphasize the benefits of multimodal, community-integrated teaching strategies, especially for individuals with poor computer literacy or educational achievement. PEKA and other mobile apps should be considered complementary tools rather than standalone solutions.
