Abstract

To reduce the rate of development of the virus Covid-19, educational institutions must carry out learning using distance learning models by utilizing technology. This research aims to analyze the process of digital flipped learning of using Telegram in teaching listening dan speaking skills. The methods used in this study are qualitatively descriptive. The data on students’ responses to the teaching process was employed from the survey. The researchers analyzed the process of using Telegram in teaching listening and speaking skills to the 39 Arabic Language and Literature students at IAIN Surakarta. In addition, the effectiveness of using Telegram was measured by the students’ responses. There were two stages of using Telegram: the stage before and while the online class. The stages before online classes include listening and watching video material (knowledge), summarizing, and determining important points (comprehension). The current stages of online classes include students' presentation (application), discussion and Q&A (analysis), giving input (evaluation), and compiling knowledge-thinking critical-problem solving (creation). The results of this study, the average students respond positively to using Telegram in teaching listening and speaking skills. Then digital flipped learning of using Telegram can be used again in teaching these skills.

Abstract

Abstract

n the process of teaching the Arabic language, including reading skills, there are still many students who struggle with learning it. Teachers also do not use methods that could facilitate students' understanding of the material presented. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom learning model in improving reading skills (maharah Qira'ah) in class X students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Sukoharjo. This research is a quantitative research using pre-experimental method with one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 30 students as samples. The research instruments were pretest and posttest tests to evaluate students' reading skills before and after the intervention. It was prepared based on the curriculum of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Sukoharjo. The results showed a significant increase in posttest scores (82.00) compared to the pretest (54.33), with a statistical significance value of only 0.001. This increase shows the effectiveness of the Flipped Classroom model in improving students' reading skills. This model is considered effective because it has achieved the expected learning objectives, namely an increase in learning outcomes as evidenced by the results of posttest scores.

Abstract

The increasing of industrial activities and urbanization have led to the accumulation of heavy metals, which pose a high risk to human health and ecosystems. Adsorption using biochar from bamboo waste is an alternative solution as an adsorbent. This study evaluated the performance of biochar from pyrolysis of bamboo waste at various temperatures (300–600°C) for adsorption of lead (Pb²⁺) ions. The pyrolysis was conducted under a nitrogen gas atmosphere to prevent oxidation during thermal decomposition. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis revealed an increase in the stability of carbonyl (C=O) and carbon–nitrogen (C–N) functional groups with increasing temperature, which contributed to a stronger affinity for metal ions. Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analysis showed that biochar produced at 400 °C exhibited the most favorable surface characteristics, with a surface area of 178.56 m²/g, a pore volume of 0.091 cm³/g, and an average pore diameter of 2.05 nm. This sample also demonstrated the highest Pb²⁺ adsorption capacity of 52.4 mg/g. Despite higher porosity, the biochar produced at 600 °C showed diminished adsorption efficiency due to pore structure collapse and decreased carbon content. The findings suggest that biochar synthesized at 400 °C has strong potential for use in environmental remediation applications, particularly in mitigating lead contamination in water systems.
