Abstract

The factors causing students' learning difficulties are highly varied, including in mathematics education. Learning difficulties refer to the various challenges or barriers individuals face in the learning process, which can impact their ability to acquire, process, and apply knowledge and skills. Due to their diverse nature, these difficulties affect various aspects of the learning process. This study aims to describe the learning difficulties students face, particularly in mathematics education. The sample for this study comprises 25 students, specifically all students in class VIII-B. The data collection methods include tests, interviews, and documentation as supplementary data. The analysis reveals that 48% of the students fall into the "moderate" category of mathematics learning difficulties, while 40% are categorized as experiencing "difficult" challenges in learning mathematics. Specifically, in the topic of exponentiation, these learning difficulties stem from challenges in mastering and understanding the concepts, particularly in solving mathematical problems, and difficulties in number operations or lacking operational skills, leading to incorrect problem-solving. Interview results further support that students continue to experience significant difficulties in learning mathematics, especially in the topic of exponentiation.

Abstract

Learning processes and daily life are significantly influenced by reasoning ability. Specifically, in mathematics education, reasoning is crucial for students to master. Reasoning plays a vital role in the development of mathematical thinking, serving as a foundation that enables students to delve into and understand general mathematical concepts and to draw conclusions from mathematical problems. By applying a problem-based learning model, students can be assisted in solving mathematical problems related to current issues. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological perspective, aiming to analyze and describe students' mathematical reasoning abilities through the problem-based learning model. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Utara. The results showed that after the reasoning ability test, student scores varied, with the highest score being 87, the lowest 31, and an average of 63.35, categorized as moderate. The analysis identified several factors affecting students' reasoning abilities, including lack of conceptual understanding, inconsistency in problem identification, lack of precision, and difficulty in finding formulas to solve problems.

Abstract

One effective alternative for students to enhance their understanding of the concepts they are learning through systematic study activities is the use of Student Worksheets (LKPD). There are many mathematical skills that students need to develop, one of which is critical thinking. The ability to think critically in mathematics should be improved. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method. The R&D method is used to create a product and evaluate its effectiveness. In this study, the resulting product is the development of open-ended LKPD for the topic of Congruence and Similarity of Plane Figures for eighth-grade students. Based on the results from each validation test, the improvement from the first and second revisions by the material expert validator (Validator 1) showed a percentage increase of 18.59%, and the improvement in assessment by the Validator 1 was 12.1%. The language expert validator showed an improvement of 27.38% from the first to the second revision. The design expert validator showed an improvement of 33.47% from the first to the second revision. Furthermore, the practicality test results indicated that 89.87% of the open-ended LKPD is practical for use in mathematics instruction. Data from the learning achievement test revealed a student mastery percentage of 87%. This indicates that the development of open-ended LKPD for mathematics instruction on the topic of Congruence and Similarity of Plane Figures has a very high level of effectiveness.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is a recent initiative in Indonesia's education reform aimed at granting greater autonomy to schools and teachers in designing the learning process tailored to students' needs. Specifically, the Merdeka Curriculum is a government-driven process designed to create an environment that encourages students' active participation in learning, particularly in mathematics education. This process also involves active student engagement and reflects the outcomes of the learning experience. Student learning outcomes refer to the abilities acquired through educational activities and serve as quantitative indicators of post-learning evaluation. This study was conducted at UPTD SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Utara, specifically in Grade VIII. The research design is a qualitative descriptive study aimed at analyzing and describing student learning outcomes with respect to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Analysis of test results, which were administered to assess students' understanding of exponentiation concepts, revealed an average score of 65.74, with a mastery percentage of 70.37% and a non-mastery percentage of 29.63%. The student learning outcomes under the Merdeka Curriculum also show significant variation, depending on the preparedness of schools and teachers for implementing this curriculum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi berdasarkan hasil studi pendahuluan yang  dilakukan peneliti di UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli ditemukan masalah yaitu (a) Kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah, dan (b) Model pembelajaran yang digunakan masih bersifat konvensional. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh model pembelajaran STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, And Mathematics) terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan metode eksperimen semu (quasi experimental). Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII di UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Gunungsitoli. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan teknik sampling jenuh, yaitu siswa kelas VII-A yang berjumlah 27 orang sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VII-B yang berjumlah 27 orang sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian berbentuk essay test kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dengan uji hipotesis satu pihak, diperoleh nilai thitung = 5,373 dan nilai ttabel = 1,675. Karena thitung > ttabel atau 5,373 > 1,675maka tolak Ho terima Ha, yang berarti “Ada pengaruh model pembelajaran STEM terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa”.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh temuan dari hasil observasi di SMA Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli, yaitu (1) rendahnya pencapaian belajar matematika siswa, (2) guru masih menerapkan model pembelajaran konvensional, dan (3) minimnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran. Upaya untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dilakukan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) berbantuan Quizizz. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) berbantuan Quizizz terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas X. Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi-eksperimen dengan nonequivalent control group, melibatkan kelas eksperimen (36 siswa) dan kelas kontrol (35 siswa). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes awal (pretest) dan tes akhir (posttest) yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, serta dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji t independen pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai tes akhir kelas eksperimen meningkat secara signifikan dari 40,30 menjadi 79,82, sedangkan kelas kontrol hanya meningkat dari 36,30 menjadi 66,87. Persentase ketuntasan belajar di kelas eksperimen juga meningkat dari 0% menjadi 88,9%, dan skor kuis harian menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman materi secara bertahapBerdasarkan hasil uji t diperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 < 0,05, yang berarti bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD berbantuan Quizizz berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa SMA Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari oleh pengamatan di UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa masih sangat lemah, ditambah dengan kurangnya modul pembelajaran matematika yang dirancang khusus untuk siswa kelas delapan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul pembelajaran berbasis Problem Based Learning yang valid, praktis, dan efektif guna meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam kategori penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) dengan menerapkan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap utama: analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Peserta penelitian adalah 32 siswa kelas VIII di UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi data kuantitatif dan kualitatif yang diperoleh melalui instrumen seperti kuesioner dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, modul yang dihasilkan memenuhi persyaratan kelayakan setelah dievaluasi dari segi desain, bahasa, dan validitas isi. Selain itu, modul tersebut memperoleh nilai kepraktisan sebesar 87,14% berdasarkan penilaian guru dan 91,46% berdasarkan respons siswa, yang menunjukkan bahwa modul tersebut sangat praktis. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tes, tingkat penguasaan materi siswa mencapai 90,6% dan masuk dalam kategori “sangat efektif”, serta tingkat rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kritis matematika siswa sebesar 82,34 dan masuk dalam kategori “sangat baik”. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa modul pembelajaran berbasis problem based learning yang dibuat berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam matematika.

Abstract

This study is based on the results of a preliminary study conducted by researchers at UPTD SMP Negeri 7 Gunungsitoli, found problems, namely (1) the learning model in the classroom is less varied and (2) the lack of students' mathematical problemsolving abilities in solving mathematical problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Multi Representation Discourse (DMR) learning model on the mathematical problemsolving abilities of students at UPTD SMP Negeri 7 Gunungsitoli. This type of research is quantitative research using a quasiexperimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study was grade VIII students and the research sample consisted of two classes, namely VIII-C as the experimental class and VIII-A as the control class. The instrument in this study was in the form of a mathematical problemsolving ability essay test. The results of the study obtained based on oneparty hypothesis testing obtained a tcount value = 5,283 and a ttable value = 1.678. Because tcount > ttable or 5,283> 1.678, reject H0 and accept Ha, which means "there is an influence of the Multi Representation Discourse (DMR) learning model on students' mathematical problemsolving abilities".

Abstract

This research was motivated by a preliminary study conducted at UPTD SMP Negeri 7 Gunungsitoli, which revealed that mathematics learning still employed conventional teaching models and that students' mathematical creative thinking skills were still relatively low. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the Self-Directed Learning model on students' mathematical creative thinking abilities. The research method used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental approach and a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of the study was all eighth-grade students, with two classes selected through simple random sampling: class VIII-B (23 students) as the experimental group and class VIII-A (24 students) as the control group. The research instrument was an essay test designed to assess students' mathematical creative thinking skills. The results of the one-tailed hypothesis test showed that the calculated t-value was 5.118, which was greater than the t-table value of 1.682. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the Self-Directed Learning model has a significant effect on students' mathematical creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes among students, their limited engagement during the learning process, and the unappealing presentation of learning materials at SMP Negeri 4 Alasa. The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on students' mathematics learning outcomes within the Merdeka Curriculum. This experimental study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects included all seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Alasa, with class VII-B (30 students) serving as the experimental group taught using the PjBL model, while class VII-A (30 students) served as the control group using conventional teaching methods. The instrument used was an essay-based learning outcome test comprising five questions. Data analysis results showed that the calculated t-value was greater than the critical t-value (4.855 > 1.671). Thus, H0 was rejected, and Hₐ was accepted, indicating that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model had a significant effect on students' mathematics learning outcomes under the Merdeka Curriculum.
