Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality control of 0.3 cm cut nata de coco products at CV XYZ using the Six sigma method. Based on the results of the study, it is known that in the production process of 0.3 cm cut nata de coco, there are 2 types of defective products, namely shaved nata and frog nata. This sample data was taken in the production on internal machine 2. To overcome this problem, the appropriate method is the Six sigma method. The stages of Six sigma include Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC). The results of this study indicate several main factors causing defective products in 0.3 cm cut nata de coco are lack of training and high workload, not carrying out regular machine maintenance, no written SOP, no quality standards, no thickness measuring tools available, and an uncomfortable environment. This study successfully provided suggestions for improvements to reduce the level of defective products, namely morning briefing, making written SOP, emphasizing good quality standards, providing measuring instruments, and providing Earplugs to employees who operate noisy machines. Recommendation for improvements are expected to improve the quality of 0.3 cut nata de coco production at CV XYZ.

Abstract

The problem that occurs at CV Sri Rejeki is that there are products that do not meet standards or defective products. Types of defective products include uneven surfaces and product shapes that do not match the mould. Defects that occur are caused by an Uneven Surface, which is caused during the process of pouring liquid metal into the mold, the pouring temperature is too low and the product shape does not match the mold, which is caused by the liquid metal raw material used is too bad and the pouring time is too long. This research method uses six sigma with DMAIC stages (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) with the help of pareto charts, and the TRIZ method (Teoria Rechenia Izobretatelskih Zadatchi). The biggest defect presentation is the uneven surface with a percentage level of 54%. The overall average DPMO value is 126920.25 and the sigma value is 2.65. From the fmea calculation, the highest RPN result is found in the expertise of workers with a scale value of 112. The proposed improvement is by holding routine training for employees at least 3 times a month at a mutually agreed time, as well as updating SOPs and printing them to minimize the occurrence of defective products. Also before carrying out the process of smelting raw materials, a separation process is carried out between feasible and inappropriate raw materials

Abstract

Tingginya tingkat kecacatan produk pada industri pengecoran logam sering kali menjadi penghambat utama efisiensi produksi dan kepuasan pelanggan, sehingga memerlukan strategi pengendalian kualitas yang terukur dan sistematis. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penerapan metode Six Sigma dan Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) dalam pengendalian kualitas produk wajan aluminium di CV. Aluminium GN. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada periode Agustus–November 2025 dengan jumlah sampel 10.440 unit produksi, di mana ditemukan 2.830 unit cacat atau sebesar 27,1%. Berdasarkan analisis diagram Pareto, cacat dominan terdiri atas cacat berlubang (49,68%), retak (29,29%), dan cacat mrayan (21,02%). Penerapan metodologi DMAIC menunjukkan nilai Defect Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) rata-rata sebesar 90.413,124 dengan level sigma 2,84, yang menandakan kapabilitas proses masih berada pada level sigma 3. Analisis sebab akibat mengidentifikasi faktor utama penyebab cacat yang meliputi manusia, mesin, material, metode, lingkungan, dan pengukuran. Hasil analisis FMEA menunjukkan cacat mrayan memiliki nilai Risk Priority Number (RPN) tertinggi sebesar 294 sehingga menjadi prioritas utama perbaikan. Rekomendasi perbaikan difokuskan pada penerapan SOP terstandar, perawatan mesin berkala, pengendalian komposisi material, serta peningkatan kompetensi operator. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar perbaikan berkelanjutan dalam menurunkan tingkat cacat produk secara signifikan.
