Abstract

Identifikasi dan pilih literatur menggunakan Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA).

Respondents in the study were undergraduate and postgraduate students in Nursing Science, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, year of 2020 and 2021, with a total of 395 students. The Holistic Well-being Scale (HWS) questionnaire was used to collect data. Result: The results of this study found that the average measurement of the mind-body-spirit connection picture of nursing students in online learning was 189.94, which was interpreted in the sufficient category. Nursing students still need to improve their well-being through fulfilling the right aspects of mind, body, and spirit. Conclusion: -

Abstract

Transcultural health care involves providing individualized and holistic health care to clients across cultures. Understanding and learning the differences in each culture will promote optimum care levels, especially for patients with cancer. This study describes nurses' expression of transcultural care to patients with cancer. This is a descriptive phenomenological study of nurses' expression in transcultural care to patients with cancer. A total of 11 participants were selected by using purposive sampling. Data was gathered from in-depth interviews among nurses who took care of patients with cancer via an online platform. Data analysis used Colaizzi's thematic analysis. The study’s trustworthiness was established by its credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability. Four major themes were generated in this study: (1) cultural congruent care, (2) cultural and communication competency, (3) integrity as a vital aspect of respect and consideration of other cultures, and (4) challenges nurses face when a caring for patients with cancer and their transcultural and patient-driven solutions. Caring is about giving patients hope, love, and services based on their cultural sensitivity. Connecting and interacting effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds is essential in today's globalized society.

Abstract

Introduction: During the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses should have resilience or durability can respond to complex and depressing situations. Objectives: To sum up nurses’ resilience during COVID-19. Methods: This article was written by applying scoping review method. Articles were accessed from science direct, Clinical Key, JStore, EBSCO, and Springer Link databases from March to October 2020. The keywords used were Resilience AND Nurse AND COVID-19 Pandemic. Finding: There were some findings related to nurses’ resilience, such as 1) negative resilience, 2) nurses’ resilience signs and symptoms such as anxiety, stress, and depression 3) contributing factors such as education, mental health training, adequate knowledge source, confidence in work accomplishment, active and passive coping. Conclusion: Most nurses experience negative resilience with signs and symptoms that lead to stress, depression, anxiety, and fear of some situations, such as the limited personal precaution equipment, the risk of being infected, and the fear of spreading the virus to family and colleagues. Recommendation: Nurses must immediately come up from stress to perform better healthcare for the patients by implementing strategies such as asking for social support from the closest people for further study.

Abstract

Background: Assessing pain in critically ill patients receiving mechanical ventilatory support remains a challenge in the intensive care unit. Due to mechanical ventilation and a reduced level of consciousness, the patient was unable to verbally report perceived pain. Highly sensitive pain assessment tools are critical for pain detection in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. The Critical Care Pain Observation Tool (CPOT) and the Behavioral Pain Scale (BPS) are two pain assessment tools recommended for use in the critical care settingObjective: The purpose of this study was to compare the sensitivity and specificity of CPOT and BPS in the assessment of pain in patients receiving mechanical ventilation. Methods: This study was a systematic review conducted using the Scopus, PubMed, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect databases and followed established guidelines for conducting systematic reviews or scoping reviewsResults: CPOT was found to be more sensitive at 95% with a cut-off score >2, whereas BPS exhibited higher specificity at 91.5% with a cut-off score >6Conclusion: Both CPOT and BPS demonstrate sensitivity to painful situations and are capable of detecting pain in critically ill patients.

Abstract

The life threats for patients admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is higher compared to other care units. The magnitude of the life threats in the ICU not only causes anxiety for patients but also for other families. The family has crucial roles in supporting the patient's recovery, so the holistic needs of the patient's family also require to be considered. This meta-synthesis aimed to synthesize findings from qualitative studies that explored and described the needs of families while accompanying patients in the ICU. A systematic literature search from online databases was used to conduct a qualitative meta-synthesis, which was then evaluated using Critical Appraisal Skill Programme (CASP) checklist for Qualitative Study. Literature that fit the requirements was further analyzed. Three main themes that were fundamental for families were revealed including the need for information, the need for family involvement in patient care, and the need for visiting time for the family. Understanding the family as a unit brings benefits to the patient. It is essential to adapt professional practice strategies that involve families in the daily care of critical patients. Further research is required on how to carry out interventions that translate this knowledge into nursing care practices and actions.
