Abstract

The study aims to analyze the differences in students' mathematical communication skills through the mind mapping learning model better than those given regular learning, analyze the differences in students' interest in learning mathematics through the mind mapping learning model better than those given regular learning, analyze the interaction between learning and students' initial abilities on mathematical communication skills, analyze the interaction between learning and students' initial abilities on students' interest in learning mathematics at Padang Sidempuan City Elementary School. The sample was determined as many as 54 people consisting of 2 (two) classes. The research design used in this study was an experimental design with a 2x3 factorial. The results of the study concluded that students' mathematical communication skills were taught with the mind mapping learning model better than using regular learning. Students' mathematical communication skills have a high learning interest better than those with a low learning interest. There is an interaction between learning and initial mathematical abilities on students' mathematical communication abilities. There is an interaction between learning and initial mathematical abilities on students' learning interests.

Abstract

The research aims to describe the difference in influence between the CTL learning model assisted by learning videos and ordinary learning on students' mathematics learning outcomes, describe the difference in influence between the CTL learning model assisted by video learning and ordinary learning on students' learning motivation, describe the interaction between learning and students' initial abilities on results students' mathematics learning, and describing the interaction between learning and students' initial abilities on students' learning motivation at SDN 100106 Sibangkua, South Tapanuli Regency. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method because students' conditions cannot be controlled. The data analysis technique uses 2x3 factorial Anova. The population of this study were students at SD Negeri 100106 Sibangkua, South Tapanuli Regency for the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample consisted of 2 classes consisting of 1 experimental class and 1 control class. The experimental class with the CTL model was assisted by video learning and the control class was taught using regular learning. The results of the research concluded that there was a difference in students' mathematics learning outcomes using the video-based CTL learning model with an average of 78.83 compared to regular learning with an average of 67.67. There is a difference in students' learning motivation using the video-based CTL learning model with a score of 70.42 and regular learning with a score of 66.07. There is an interaction between the learning model and initial mathematics abilities on students' mathematics learning outcomes (0.006<0.06). There is an interaction between the learning model and initial mathematics abilities on students' learning motivation (0.001<0.05).

Abstract

Learning motivation serves as a significant driving force for students, as it encompasses their engagement in learning activities, ensures the continuity of these activities, and provides direction towards achieving desired goals. The primary objective of this study was to examine the impact of WhatsApp usage on students' motivation to learn science, its influence on science learning outcomes, and its effect on both motivation and learning outcomes before and after using WhatsApp. The research was conducted among 5th grade students in the Se'seng cluster, Tana Toraja Regency. The population consisted of 95 students from SDN Gugus Se'seng. The study employed a pre-experimental model with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Prior to the treatment, a pretest was administered to assess the group's initial condition, followed by a post-test after the treatment to evaluate the group's condition post-intervention. Descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis using SPSS 24 were employed in this study. The descriptive analysis of learning motivation among 5th grade students in the Se'seng cluster indicated an average score of 54.1667 during online learning. This average score suggests that students' motivation is still below the desired expectation of 65. In accordance with the learning process and cognitive characteristics, students were evaluated to measure their learning outcomes. The students' initial abilities were determined through a pretest, with an average score of 53.3333 in the descriptive analysis. This demonstrates that students' pretest abilities were still low and did not meet the required minimum passing grade of 75. The results of the learning motivation hypothesis test showed a t-value of -5.801, with a significance of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the use of WhatsApp media in online learning did not have a significant impact on students' learning motivation. However, based on the results of the t-test, it was determined that learning through WhatsApp media had an effect on the learning outcomes of 5th grade students in the Se'seng cluster.

Abstract

This research investigates the development of Computational Thinking (CT) studies in science education by examining selected science journals. It focuses on 1) the distribution of CT research, 2) the proportion of CT-related articles, 3) research methods, 4) authors and citations, 5) education levels, and 6) scientific disciplines and topics. Despite limited systematic literature reviews on CT, its importance in science education is evident as it fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This bibliometric review uses Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) to analyze 13 articles from five reputable international journals: Journal of Science Education (IJSE), International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education (IJMA), Journal of Research in Science Teaching (JRST), Science Education (SE), and Research in Science Education (RISE). Findings show that CT research began to develop in 2019. The mixed method is the most widely used in CT research (40%), with JRST publishing the most CT articles (70%). Citations for CT articles are not yet significant, with the highest being 119. Research at the elementary level needs more attention, as many studies focus on secondary schools. CT STEM is the most focused topic in these journals. Other findings are discussed in detail.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to figure out how Science Process Skills (SPS) of pre-service elementary school teachers from elementary to high schools are and to analyze the need to develop these skills in the lecturing program. The method of this research was quantitative research with survey design. The participants in this study were 85 pre-service teachers of early semester students of Elementary School Teacher Education Program. 31 pre-service teachers have science education backgrounds, while 54 pre-service teachers do not have them. The research data were obtained from the test instruments given to the participants, and the responses were later analyzed and classified. Research result shows that the SPS of pre-service teachers are inadequate on the indicators tested including: planning experiments, hypothesizing, communicating, and concluding. There is no difference between participants who are from the science background and those who are not. Hence, pre-service teachers need to start developing and improving their SPS in the lecture process in order for them to provide the most optimal science teaching.Keywords: science process skills, pre-service elementary pre-service teachers, science lesson.   AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Keterampilan Proses Sains (KPS) dari calon guru sekolah dasar mulai dari sekolah dasar sampai dengan sekolah menengah dan menganalisis kebutuhan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan ini dalam program perkuliahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain survei. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 85 orang calon guru pada Program Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar pada semester awal. 31 calon guru memiliki latar belakang sains dan 54 calon guru bukan berlatar belakang sains. Data penelitian didapatkan dari instrumen tes yang diberikan pada partisipan kemudian jawabannya dianalisis dan diklasifikasikan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa KPS calon guru tidak memadai pada indikator yang diujikan yaitu: merencanakan percobaan, berhipotesis, berkomunikasi, dan menyimpulkan. Tidak ada perbedaan antara partisipan yang berasal dari latar belakang sains atau tidak. Oleh karena itu, calon guru perlu mulai mengembangkan dan meningkatkan KPS mereka dalam proses perkuliahan untuk memberikan pengajaran sains yang paling optimal.Kata kunci: keterampilan proses sains, calon guru SD, pembelajaran sains

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to assess elementary school teachers' inquiry skills and scientific attitudes related to science. The instrument used in this study evaluates four groups of skills: conceptualizing and planning design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and communication. Additionally, it assesses six categories of scientific attitudes: the nature of science, the basis of science, characteristics of scientists, goals of science, benefits of science, and responses regarding scientists. This research instrument underwent validation by two experts in the field of science. Validation results using Kendall's Tau calculations showed a value of 0.853 for the inquiry ability instrument and 0.807 for scientific attitude, and both falling into the ‘very high’ category. The study involved 49 elementary school teachers. Findings revealed that teachers' inquiry skills were categorized as 'weak', indicated by an average percentage below 50% in each skill group. Regarding scientific attitude, respondents' responses varied significantly between positive and negative statements, despite similarities found in two categories: 'basic science' and 'purpose of science'. This study highlights the necessity to consider the the learning process science, particularly emphasizing the development of inquiry skills and fostering positive scientific attitudes, from elementary school through university education.Keywords: inquiry skills, scientific attitudes, elementary teacher.                                                             AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana keterampilan inkuiri guru baik dari sisi proses maupun sikap ilmiah terkait dengan sains. Proses yang diujikan dalam instrument ini terdiri dari empat kelompok keterampilan: mengkonsepsi dan merencanakan desain, implementasi, analisis dan interpretasi, serta mengkomunikasikan. Pada sikap ilmiah terdiri dari enam kategori yaitu: sifat dari ilmu sains, dasar ilmu sains, hal yang dimiliki ilmuan, tujuan ilmu sains, manfaat ilmu sains, dan tanggapan mengenai ilmuan sains. Instrumen penelitian ini telah dilakukan validasi pada dua orang doktor pada bidang sains. Berdasarkan hasil validasi menggunakan perhitungan Kendall’s Tau memiliki nilai sebesar 0,853 untuk instrument kemampuan inquiry dan nilai sebesar 0,807 untuk sikap ilmiah serta keduanya termasuk ke dalam kategori sangat tinggi. Responden dalam peneitian ini terdiri dari 49 orang guru sekolah dasar yang didapatkan bahwa keterampilan inkuiri berada pada kategori “lemah” hal ini ditunjukkan dengan persentase rata-rata responden pada setiap kelompok dibawah 50%. Sedangkan pada sikap ilmiah didapatkan bahwa respon responded terhadap pernyataan sikap ilmiah antara pernyataan positif dan negatif cukup berbeda walaupun ada dua kategori sikap ilmiah yang sama responnya. Dua kategori itu adalah pada “dasar ilmu sains” dan “tujuan dari sains”. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran sains dari SD sampai dengan perguruan tinggi perlu untuk diperhatikan terutama hal yang berkaitan dengan keterampilan inkuiri dan sikap ilmiah.Kata kunci: kemampuan inkuiri, sikap ilmiah, guru sekolah dasar

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to (1) assess the significant impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, enhanced by Google Sites interactive multimedia, on the critical thinking abilities of fifth-grade elementary students, (2) evaluate the significant effect of the PBL model, supported by Google Sites interactive multimedia, on the creative thinking skills of these students, and (3) examine the combined influence of the PBL model, aided by Google Sites interactive multimedia, on both critical and creative thinking skills of fifth-grade students. This quasi-experimental research utilized a nonequivalent control group design, involving fifth-grade students divided into a control group and an experimental group, each consisting of 30 students. Data analysis was conducted using independent sample t-tests and MANOVA tests. The hypothesis testing results indicate that (1) the PBL model with Google Sites interactive multimedia significantly enhances critical thinking skills, (2) it significantly boosts creative thinking skills, and (3) it has a simultaneous positive effect on both critical and creative thinking skills of fifth-grade students. Future learning is encouraged to develop more diverse educational games to further motivate student learning.Keywords: problem-based learning, interactive multimedia, google sites, critical  and creative thinking.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengkaji dampak signifikan model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) yang disempurnakan dengan multimedia interaktif Google Sites terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sekolah dasar kelas lima, (2) mengevaluasi dampak signifikan model PBL yang didukung oleh multimedia interaktif Google Sites terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa tersebut, dan (3) menguji pengaruh gabungan model PBL yang dibantu oleh multimedia interaktif Google Sites terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif siswa kelas lima. Penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini menggunakan desain kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen, yang melibatkan siswa kelas lima yang dibagi menjadi kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen, yang masing-masing terdiri dari 30 siswa. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t sampel independen dan uji MANOVA. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa (1) model PBL dengan multimedia interaktif Google Sites secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, (2) secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif, dan (3) secara simultan memiliki efek positif terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan kreatif siswa kelas lima. Pembelajaran di masa depan didorong untuk mengembangkan permainan edukatif yang lebih beragam untuk lebih memotivasi pembelajaran siswa.Kata kunci: pembelajaran berbasis masalah, multimedia interaktif, situs google, berpikir kritis dan kreatif.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an instrument that can measure the achievement of student learning outcomes in chemistry education in Environmental Chemistry courses, which refers to Bloom's Taxonomy, which has been revised along with the dimensions of knowledge from Anderson & Krathwohl. The research method used in this research is research and development with 4 (four) stages of research 1) define; 2) design; 3) develop; and 4) dissemination. The validation of this instrument was carried out by two experts in the field of chemistry and tested on 20 students. The instrument used is in the form of a description that takes the cognitive domains C1 to C3. In addition, in the instrument there are also 4 (four) dimensions of knowledge tested, namely factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive. Based on the results of expert validation, it was found that in content there were no problems only in the use of verbs in the instrument requiring more operational verbs and based on the test results it was found that all the questions given showed that 30.15% of the questions were categorized as easy, 44, 80% were categorized as moderate and 25.05% were categorized as difficult. This study shows that the knowledge dimension in Bloom's taxonomy needs to be applied by considering the knowledge dimension to develop thinking skills in students.

Abstract

Amid increasing global challenges characterized by uncertainty, complexity, and ethical dilemmas, socioscientific issues (SSI) have emerged as a critical framework for advancing science education. This study systematically examines research trends, pedagogical approaches, competencies, and research gaps in SSI studies. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA protocol on 53 open-access articles published between 2021 and 2025 in selected high-impact Scopus Q1 journals. The findings reveal a growing concentration of SSI research within the selected corpus, particularly in recent publications. Qualitative approaches dominate, with studies largely situated in secondary and higher education contexts. Research primarily focuses on environmental and health-related issues, while argumentation, inquiry-based learning, and discussion are the most frequently applied pedagogical approaches. SSI-based learning fosters multidimensional competencies across cognitive, epistemic, and affective domains. However, key gaps persist, including limited thematic diversity, underrepresentation of primary education, insufficient integration of emerging technologies, and a lack of large-scale and longitudinal designs. This study underscores the need for broader implementation, methodological diversification, and technology integration. Limitations related to the bounded corpus and open-access selection are acknowledged, which may affect generalizability.

Abstract

Kegiatan evaluasi program literasi digital digunakan, untuk pelaksanaan suatu program di satuan pendidikan dapat terlaksana dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mendiskripsikan dan menganalisis kualitas pelaksanaan program literasi digital pada SD; (2) Menganalisis faktor kendala pelaksanaan literasi digital pada SD; (3) Mendeskripsikan strategi untuk meningkatkan literasi digital SD. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Pelaksanaan program literasi digital ditinjau dari model evaluasi CIPP pada dimensi context pada kategori baik, dimensi input pada kategori cukup, dimensi process pada kategori baik, dan dimensi product pada kategori baik. (2) Faktor kendala pelaksanaan literasi digital sebagai berikut: terbatasnya sarana prasarana pendukung; kurangnya sumber belajar terkait literasi digital; kurangnya pemahaman guru terkait literasi digital; dan kurangnya pemanfaatan situs edukatif untuk literasi digital. (3) Strategi untuk meningkatkan kualitas literasi digital yaitu: mengembangkan sarana prasarana yang mendukung kegiatan literasi digital; mengembangkan sumber belajar yang bermutu; mengadakan pelatihan literasi digital bagi guru; dan memanfaatkan aplikasi dan web edukatif. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah implementasi pelaksanaan evaluasi program dan strategi pada SD di Kecamatan Pejagoan dapat meningkatkan kualitas literasi digital.
