Abstract

The Open University (UT) provided by the educational staff of the Open University (UT) to help students overcome their learning difficulties. This paper focuses on the ability of students in doing the tasks, assigned by the tutor during the online tutorial activities. The study was conducted at the UT course tutorial activities of Environmental Chemistry Subject at the trial period of 2010.2, 2011.1 2011.2, 2012.1 and 2012.2 involving 81students. Data was obtained based on students answers to the assignments/tasks given by the tutor. The indicators used for analysis of students task answer were the students ability in Blooms taxonomy analyzing. The data then was analyzed into qualitative descriptive. Results showed: 1) All students were able to answer well for the ability of memory understanding and comprehension 2). Not all students were capable to reach higher level thinking i.e. analyzing and evaluating in answering the questions given. 3) Students gave positive respon in online tutorial activities and using the "open educational resources". Universitas Terbuka (UT) yang disediakan oleh staf pendidikan dari Universitas Terbuka (UT) untuk membantu siswa mengatasi kesulitan belajar mereka. Makalah ini berfokus pada kemampuan siswa dalam melakukan tugas, yang diberikan oleh guru selama kegiatan tutorial online. Penelitian dilakukan di UT kegiatan program tutorial Kimia Lingkungan Subjek pada masa percobaan 2010.2, 2.011,1 2.011,2, 2.012,1 dan 2.012,2 melibatkan 81 siswa. Data diperoleh berdasarkan jawaban siswa terhadap tugas / tugas yang diberikan oleh tutor. Indikator yang digunakan untuk analisis siswa jawaban tugas yang siswa kemampuan dalam taksonomi Bloom menganalisis. Data kemudian dianalisis menjadi deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Semua siswa mampu menjawab dengan baik untuk kemampuan pemahaman memori dan pemahaman 2). Tidak semua siswa mampu mencapai yang lebih tinggi berpikir tingkat yaitu menganalisis dan mengevaluasi dalam menjawab pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang diberikan. 3) Siswa memberikan respon positif dalam kegiatan tutorial online dan menggunakan "sumber daya terbuka pendidikan".

Abstract

Learning subject such as Natural Sciences (IPA) is not only learns about science concepts but also experiencing the real nature. This study aims to obtain information about students perceptions on the content of science laboratory practices, the preparation of students in tutorials, as well as expectations for practical implementation of IPA. Questionnaires were administered by mail and direct delivery. A total of 399 students from Medan, Jakarta, Jakarta, Samarinda, Surabaya, Bangka Belitung, Mataram, Palu, which registered to the course at Universitas Terbuka (UT) in the first semester of 2009 had answered. Observation was carried out at 4 locations in Sukabumi, Depok, Tangerang, and Cibarusa. The results indicated that independent laboratory practices were done more compared to the formal tutorial practices. Perceptions of students towards science laboratory activities of the of 4 scale (poor (1), fair (2), average (3) and good (4)), were respectively X = 3.34 for student involvement in laboratory practices, X = 3.01 for the content material, X = 3.27 for the presence of tutors, and X = 2.61 for the availability of facilities and infrastructure. While the gap between the conditions and expectations of students in consecutive tutorial activities was 0.71 for the availability of facilities and infrastructure, 0.41 for to the availability of laboratory practice materials, 0.31 for the competence of tutors, and 0.33 for student involvement in laboratory practice activities.

Abstract

Sodium (Na) was found as one of chemical elements that able to disturb plants that grow along the Cikijing river. This river water that had been detected as contains high sodium, whereas the river water is still used by local farmers to irrigate their rice fields. The aim of this research are to identify the effect of bleaching process on the Na polluted soils toward the plant growth. Experiment was conducted in a greenhouse using rice field soils that contains high Na as the experiment material. The soils were washed using deepwater well and filtered water. Filtering was processed using zeolit and white sand, whereas rice plants were used as indicator. Result show that bleaching with deep water well and filtered water are both able to reduce the contain on Na in the soils. The application of deep well water and filtered water has shown a significant influence toward the height of the rice plants and the number of productive rice buds. The rice plants irrigated by deep water well are seen as higher in growth and bigger in number of productive rice buds compare to rice plants watered with filtered irrigation. The length (height) of plant watered with deep water well (99.1 cm) was significantly different with rice plants watered with filtered water (80.8 cm). On the other hand, the average number of 36 productive rice buds watered with deep water well is significantly different with rice plants watered by filtered water in the number of 23.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the creative thinking skills of junior high school students based on mathematics anxiety and gender. Aspects of creative thinking skills used in this study are fluency, flexibility, and novelty. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The instruments used were open-ended questions consisting of algebra and geometry questions, mathematics anxiety questionnaires, and interview guidelines. The study was conducted in class IX E of SMPI Al Azhar 12 Rawamangun Jakarta. The subject of this study consisted of four students, they are male student with low mathematics anxiety, female student with low mathematics anxiety, male student with medium mathematics anxiety, and female student with medium mathematics anxiety. The results of the mathematics anxiety questionnaire showed that none of the students in class IX E had high math anxiety. There are differences in the fulfillment of aspects of creative thinking in terms of differences in mathematics anxiety and gender levels. Students with low math anxiety fulfill aspects of fluency, flexibility, and novelty in algebra and geometry questions. Students with medium math anxiety fulfill aspects of fluency and flexibility both in algebra and geometry questions. Female students fulfill aspects of fluency, flexibility, and novelty both in algebra and geometry questions. Male students fulfill aspects of fluency and flexibility in algebra questions, while in geometry questions the aspects that are fulfilled are fluency, flexibility, and novelty.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis penerapan strategi berbasis masalah berbantuan audio visual dan motivasi belajar terhadap IPA di Sekolah Dasar pada Gugus Panca Widya Kecamatan Kroya Kabupaten Indramayu. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas V di dua sekolah dasar yaitu SDN 4 Temiyang dan SDN 1 Temiyang tahun pelajaran 2019-2020. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 44 orang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan tes. Analisis data menggunakan analisis statistik dengan teknik uji t, anova dua jalur serta uji tukey. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan didapatkan hasil penelitian sebagai berikut: (1) Terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar IPA SD antara siswa yang belajar menggunakan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah berbantuan audio visual dan siswa yang belajar dengan strategi pembelajaran LKS. Hal ini didasarkan dari uji statistik anova dua jalur yang menyatakan bahwa Fhitung untuk kategori strategi PBL berbantuan audio visual adalah 67,368 > dari Ftabel yaitu 2,84. (2) Bagi siswa dengan motivasi belajar kuat memiliki hasil belajar IPA SD yang lebih tinggi bila diajar dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah berbantuan audio visual dibandingkan dengan menggunakan strategi LKS. Hal ini didasarkan dari hasil uji tukey yaitu 12,841 > 2,610. (3) Terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara penggunaan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah berbantuan audio visual dan motivasi belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar IPA SD pada materi siklus air. Hal ini didasarkan dari uji statistik anova dua jalur yang menyatakan bahwa nilai 127, 368 > 2, 610. Simpulan penelitian menyatakan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah berbantuan audio visual dan motivasi belajar terhadap hasil belajar IPA SD kelas V di Gugus Panca Widya Kecamatan Kroya Kabupaten Indramayu.

Abstract

It is indicated that rice field soil and plants on Rancaekek Bandung is containing heavy metal elements. This research aims to find out rehabilitation method for rice field soil by phytoremediation. Experiment was conducted in greenhouse. Vegetation used for this research were eceng gondok, mendong, akar wangi and haramay. The vegetation treatment was conducted under greenhouse experiments using Complete Randomized Design (CRD). Result showed that the use of vegetation had reduced the volume of Pb and Cd in the soil. Heavy metals are also contained within the roots and the leaves of the indicator plants. Mendong contained the highest concentration of Pb accumulated in its root, while akar wangi was indicated as contained Cd in its roots. Eceng gondok was indicated as containing the highest consentration of Pb and Cd accumulated in its leaves

Abstract

Improving employee performance is an important and mandatory thing to be realized, especially in local government organizations. This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of leadership, competence and organizational culture on employee performance mediated by employee job satisfaction. This research was conducted on the employees of the Department of Investment and One Stop Services (DPMPTSP) of Yapen Islands Regency with a population of 32 employees, where all employees were used as samples. The independent variables in this study are leadership, competence and organizational culture, while the dependent variable is employee performance mediated by job satisfaction. The research data was obtained by distributing questionnaires and then measuring the variables using a Likert scale. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using a Structural Equation Model (SEM) approach based on Partial Least Square (PLS), namely Smart-PLS version 3. The results showed that: 1) leadership had no significant effect on employee performance, but had a significant effect on job satisfaction; 2) competence has a significant effect on employee performance, but is not significant in influencing job satisfaction; 3) organizational culture has a significant effect on employee performance and job satisfaction; 4) job satisfaction has a significant effect on employee performance; 5) job satisfaction can mediate the relationship of leadership to employee performance, but cannot mediate the relationship of competence and organizational culture to employee performance.

Abstract

One of the characteristics of distance learning students study away from educational organization, and Institution should provide learning assistance to its students in academic services which is implemented with tutor guidance. The students will feel satisfied when their learning had fulfilled their needs. This study aims to analyse the students’ level of satisfaction and expectations in the tutorial activities of some subjects provided in Post Graduate Program. Indicator used in achieving the satisfaction are the passage of communication among students, the interaction in the class face to face tutorial and the ability of tutors in guiding student learning. The data obtained through questionnaires to students from 10 region. The sample of this study were 260 from 1198 students, and populations come from 3 magister program. 30 students use as pilot project through 18 items questionnaire test. By using "product moment" correlation technique, obtained each items pertained valid. The result showed in average, the students gave satisfaction assessment above 3.25 of the scale 4. The items were students’ satisfaction on the tutorial environments; students’ satisfaction on the communication intertwined with the face-to-face tutors; students’ satisfaction on the tutors’ capability in transferring the science substance; and satisfaction to the interaction occurred in face-to-face tutorials and the tutor’s role in tutorial activities. There was a relationship between students’ satisfaction in following face-to-face tutorial with the final semester exam, Master of Basic Education R2 = 0,027, Master of Public Administration R2 = 0,01 and Master of Management equal to R2 = 0,015.
