Abstract

The purposes of this study were to determine the perceptions of the public and tourists on the Whale Shark ecotourism development project (Rhincodon typus), to identify the costs and benefits of the Whale Shark ecotourism development project (Rhincodontypus), to assess the financial feasibility of Whale Shark ecotourism (Rhincodontypus) based on investment criteria that include Net The Present Value, Internal Rate Of Return, Net BC Ratio and Payback Period, identify the main problems that occur in Whale Shark ecotourism (Rhincodontypus) in Talisayan Subdistrict, Berau District. The sampling method used was a purposive sampling method with 30 respondents. The method of data analysis uses descriptive methods based on graphs and financial feasibility analysis. The results of this study indicated that the perception of the community and tourists towards the development of ecotourism of the whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is that strongly agree with the existence of the project. The costs of infrastructure development projects for the development of ecotourism of the Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) namely investment and operational costs consist of fixed costs and variable costs, where as the benefit of the project in economic terms can open up new jobs for local communities. In the mean while, the village popularity is becaming more famous around local tourist and foreign tourist. Infrastructure development projects for the development of the Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) ecotourism with Net Present Value investment criteria of Rp.257,559,474, Internal rate of Return of 13%, Net Benefit Cost Ratio of 1,434 and Payback Period of 3 years are feasible to run. The problems were the access road to the location of the Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) ecotourism and poor lighting on the road.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the dual livelihood patterns of fishermen families, to know the contribution of each family member of the Nomei fishermen who worked on family income and to know the motivation of fishermen's wives in Juata Laut who were involved in applying multiple livelihood patterns. The sampling method used was purposive sampling totaling 10 families consisting of nuclear families and extended families, each of 5 families in the Juata Laut Village. The results of this study indicate that the picture of the double income pattern applied by nuclear family members and extended families is still very limited. The types of work in the field of fisheries are carried out by men and women, where all men are generally fishermen and women are all processors of dried fish. The percentage of the contribution of husband's income to the nuclear family averaged 36.42% and the percentage contribution of wife's income was 63.58% on average. While the percentage of husband's income contribution to the broad family is an average of 28.39%, the percentage contribution of wife's income is an average of 51.76% and the contribution of other family income averages 19.85%. Motivation of the wives of fishermen who are involved in earning a living is dominant in the household income factor which is felt to be lacking.

Abstract

The purposes of this riset was to know the perceptions of fishermens’s family in Tanjung Batu village about gender relations concept, the division of working system, revenue contribution, the making decisions system, working time duration, and also to able to know the system of access and control of marine and fisheries resourcea and social economic resources in fishermen’s family in Tanjung Batu village. The sampling method that has been used the purposive sampling, with 25 fishermen’s family (each family composed of husband and wife) that have operated 5 dominant fishing gear such as pukat, pancing, bubu, bagan tancap and bagan perahu. The research was conducted since October 2017 to June 2018. The analysis method of this data was description method which is based of crossing tabulation with qualitative approach. The result has shown that 96% perception in fishermen’s family related to gender relations concept is “women (wives) and men (husbands) realize that gender does not have to be a problem in managing the family or in the working field, but actually can be supported each other”. The system of making decision and divison of working within domestic activities is usualy dominated by the wives, while the things that are related to public activites is often dominated by both of husbands and wives. Revenue contribution 74% was come from husbands and 26% from wives. Working time duration of wives productive time were 6,6 hours/day (27,6%) and husbands were 11 hours/day (45,7%).The access and control of of marine and fisheries resources and social economic resources were often dominated by both of husbands and wives.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was determined the role of fisherman’s wife based on productive activity and contribution to increase family fisherman’s family income, the income different of fisherman’s family which the fisherman’s wife involved or not on productive activity and identified the factor that motivate the wife involve in productive activities. The research was conducted since February until September 2017 in Babulu Laut Village, Babulu Subdistrict, Penajam Paser utara. the Sampling method was stratified random sampling to 30 respondents. The data was applied by analysed by various methods that are descriptives analysis, calculation of average income and multiple linier regression. The result was obtained the role of fishermen's wife on productive activity were fish crackers and salt fish production, seashell collectors, seller of basicneeds of ice, clothes and fried food, village office employee and teacher. The income contribution of fishermen's wife in family income was Rp. 39.211.472 per month (39.2%), that are smaller than husband's income Rp. 60.805.667 per month (60.8%). The income contribution of fisherman’s wife who is warking on productive activities were Rp.6.667.809 per month, bigger than the family income with wife not warking or productive activite, that are Rp. 4.892.983 per month. The factors that are age, education level, numbers of family member, Husband's income and bussiness’s vision not influenced significantly, both parsially or simultaneously.

Abstract

The Mangrove ecosystem in Tanjung Batu village subdistric of Derawan Island had the natural resources potency that must be managed to gain ecology and economy benefits for the society. The purpose of research was 1) to identify the mangrove utilization by the society in Tanjung Batu village, 2) to analyze mangrove ecosystem economic value based on its use value and 3) to know society perception to mangrove ecosystem utilization pattern. The research was conducted from December 2017 to June 2018. The number of respondents was 65 persons that selected purposively, consisted of 35 fishermen and 30 community members. The use value of ecosystem mangrove was analyzed by consumer surplus and productivity methods, while the community perception analyzed descriptively. The result of study showed that the value of direct utilization of the mangrove ecosystem as a producer of fish and crab resources was Rp. 8.470.764.106/year.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the development prospect of toman breeding business in Muara Muntai Ulu Village based on NVP, IRR, NB/CR criteria and continued with Pay Back Period analysis, and to know the level of sensitivity of toman fish enlargement in Muara Muntai Ulu Village. Sample method used in this research is census method with 10 respondents. This research was conducted in March to September 2017. Data analysis method used is financial feasibility analysis and sensitivity analysis The result of this research indicates that toman breeding (Channa micropeltes cuvier, 1841) in cages in Muara Muntai Ulu village is quite prospective and financially feasible to be continued and developed in the future based on NVP, IRR, NB/CR and Pay Back Period, level of sensitivity analysis indicates that the toman fish breeding effort is not feasible financially to be continued and developed if there is an increase of 506% totol cost, production turn to 84% and price down 84%.

Abstract

The aims of this study are: 1) to determine the fishermen's income using stationary and boat lift nets in Tanjung Batu Village, Derawan Island Sub District; 2) to examine the difference between fishermen's income that use the stationary and boat lift nets in Tanjung Batu Village, Derawan Island Sub District; 3) to identify factors influencing the difference between fishermen's income that use the stationary and boat lift nets in Tanjung Batu Village, Derawan Island Sub District. This study was conducted from October to September, 2016 in Tanjung Batu Village, Derawan Island Sub District. Sampling was taken by using disproportionate stratified random sampling with 60 respondents consisting of 30 respondents used the stationary lift net and 30 respondents used the boat lift net. Data were analyzed income analysis, method t-Test, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results showed that the fishermen's income that used the stationary lift net at IDR. 326,314,333.33 each month or average at IDR. 12,077,144.44 each month each respondent. Meanwhile, the fishermen's income that used the boat lift nets at IDR. 414,958,166.67 each month or average at IDR. 13,831,938.89 each month per respondent. Income fishermen’s stationary lift net and boat lift nets significantly different at 95% confidence level. Variable X1 (revenue) had only significantly influenced by variable Y (income).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the socio-economic characteristics, perception, motivation, and public attitudes towards regional coastal development program. Also to know the relationship between socioeconomic characteristic, perception and motivation with public attitudes towards Derawan Island Coastal Park program. Sampling method use purposive sampling with 60 respondents, consist to 30 respondents of JALA and 30 respondents of Non JALA. The research has been conducted on July to December 2015. Data analysis methods use descriptive qualitative method and quantitative analysis method with Rank Spearman’s correlation. The result shows there is a difference in attitudes towards between JALA and Non JALA. The socioeconomic characteristics factors related with attitudes towards of Derawan Regional Coastal Park are membership status of JALA and ownership status of fishing gear. The perception and motivation factor has significant effect relationship toward public attitude of Tanjung Batu village toward of Derawan Islands Coastal Park.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the motivation of fishermen from Pasuruan village migrated to Manggar Baru. Village, Public Perception to fishery resources in Balikpapan city, the research method used Case Study. The analyzed data method used descriptive and quantitative analysis. The result of research was the motivation fisherman group of Harapan Baru. Migrate to Manggar Baru is to found new fisheries resources in Balikpapan City, they perception of the fish and shrimp stock at Balipapan sea is moderat.

Abstract

The research purpose was to analyze the benefit and financial feasibility using some criterions such as NPV, IRR, Net B/C and payback period and followed by Break Event Point (BEP) analysis based on prices, product, sales dan marketing channel rates. The research method used survey method to apply purposive sampling method. Meanwhile, data were analyzed by using benefit analysis, financial analysis and description approach. The results of research showed that the present benefit of the fishery of shrimp catching was IDR 23.755.214/year. Financially, it was fearsible and has a good prospect and beneficial to develop it in the future. It was indicated that the value of NPV = IDR 27.748.040, IRR = 94%, Net B/C = 2,65 and PbP = 22,67 per year. According to BEP analysis the actual condition of fishery livelihood was above BEP condition which is according to cost, production and sale criterions. The marketing channel of black tiger shrimp fising applied in 3 levels: zero level, (direct marketing), one level and three levels (indirect marketing).
