Abstract

Not all students are ready to face changes, primarily related to self-efficacy in the context of entirely technology-based learning. This study aims to develop and validate a reliable and valid Self-Efficacy Scale for Distance Learning/SESDL. This scale is designed to measure self-efficacy in students studying in the context of distance learning. This study involved 151 UPBJJ-UT Denpasar students selected using Cluster Sampling. The instrument developed consisted of 34 statement items covering three dimensions of self-efficacy, namely magnitude, strength, and generality. Validation was done through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and the Rasch model. The analysis showed that the SESDL instrument had high reliability, strong construct validity, and good model fit. Educators, researchers, and practitioners can use this scale to accurately measure student self-efficacy in distance learning. The implications of this study are that it significantly impacts various parties in the world of education. For educators and educational institutions, this scale can be used as an evaluation tool to understand student self-efficacy in the context of distance learning. With this understanding, educators can design more targeted strategies and methods to increase students' self-confidence in overcoming the challenges of distance learning, such as improving time management skills, learning independence, and using technology.

Abstract

One form of development in the world of learning as a result of developments in information and communication technology (ICT) is that distance learning is possible. The Open University, a public university, uses various modes of learning has also experienced changes in the modes of learning for students who decide to study in person during class. Coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic, this change is a change in the learning system from the TTM mode which is replaced by Tuweb (blended learning that is held online). This study aims to analyze user or UT student satisfaction with the Tuweb system using the Servqual dimension. The data source came from the UT student population at UPBJJ UT Denpasar, where the determination of respondents was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. The Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) are the analytical techniques used. The results of the slices of the three methods (CSI, IPA and SEM-PLS) is that Tuweb UT's services get quite satisfied ratings from students, where the variable that gives excellence to Tuweb UT is empathy. As a note for improving the tuweb service from UT, the Tuweb service has the availability of a learning service response at any time and place (responsiveness variable) and the Tuweb service has better speed accuracy than the promised speed accuracy (reliability variable).

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of utilizing creative Indonesian traditional dance videos via YouTube as an innovative learning medium in cultural arts education in elementary schools. In addition, it highlights the contribution of audiovisual media in enhancing students’ interest, motivation, and engagement, while also supporting cultural preservation efforts. The research adopts a qualitative approach with Robert K. Yin’s (2009) case study design and employs a descriptive method. Data were collected through two stages of questionnaire surveys (136 teachers in the first stage and 124 teachers in the second stage), in-depth interviews with 18 teachers and prospective teachers selected purposively, and triangulation through thematic analysis, word cloud, and member checking. Strategic analysis was conducted using IFE, EFE, SWOT, and SPACE matrices to formulate strategies for implementing creative dance videos as learning media. The findings reveal that conventional dance learning using printed textbooks resulted in low levels of teacher and student interest and engagement. In contrast, the use of creative dance videos (Kedun Dance, Gegelea Beregam Dance, and Tatagok Dance) significantly increased teacher interest (99.8% interested/very interested), student motivation and engagement (73.4% more active), learning effectiveness (100% reported effective), and teacher creativity (91.9%). The novelty of this research lies in combining a qualitative case study approach with strategic analysis (SWOT and SPACE) to evaluate the use of digital media in cultural arts education. Its main contribution is offering a model for utilizing creative dance videos on YouTube as an innovative tool to enhance the quality of dance learning while strengthening Indonesia’s cultural identity among younger generations.

Abstract

Self-efficacy is a critical determinant of learner success in Open and Distance Learning (ODL), where limited interaction and tutor-centred instruction may weaken confidence and autonomy. This study examines how progressively scaffolded learning designs improve self-efficacy by comparing a Conventional Tutorial, a Flipped Classroom with Design Thinking (FCDT), and an AI-enhanced FCDT-AI model. Using a within-subjects repeated-measures design, 26 undergraduate ODL students recruited through purposive sampling experienced all three conditions in a counterbalanced sequence. Self-efficacy was measured with a validated 34-item scale, complemented by reflection logs. Quantitative analysis (Greenhouse–Geisser–adjusted repeated-measures ANOVA) showed a significant, monotonic increase in self-efficacy from the Conventional Tutorial to FCDT and FCDT-AI (p < .001). Mean scores rose from 77.79 to 80.99 and 85.05, respectively, with decreasing coefficients of variation indicating more stable confidence under higher scaffolding. Qualitative findings reinforced this progression: students described tutor dependence and uncertainty under the Conventional Tutorial, greater autonomy and structured mastery under FCDT, and the strongest, most consistent confidence under FCDT-AI due to AI-supported guidance. These results demonstrate that structured flipped design-thinking models, strengthened by generative AI scaffolding, can substantially enhance self-efficacy in ODL contexts. Future studies should investigate long-term effects across larger and more diverse learner populations.
