Abstract

Solid waste disposed from land that enters the oceans through rivers that do not go through TPA and TPS facilities, is not officially managed, resulting in an uncontrolled and unmanaged. Efforts to reduce the volume of waste in several places are closely related to community behavior, an effort to raise awareness and increase understanding is needed to encourage behavioral change that is carried out in stages, either through promotion or dissemination or continuous campaigning. This study aims to determine the decisions of residents who live on the edge of the Ciadane river regarding their daily habit of disposing of garbage. The method used is a survey to the research location and data collection through interviews with a questionnaire guide. Questionnaires will be deployed to represent settlements around the river and villages that are traversed by the cisadane river. The research sample was taken randomly / representing residents who lived on the riverbank as many as 120 respondents to represent the upstream, middle and downstream areas. Identifying factors that influence the decision to dispose of waste into the river were analyzed using ordinal logistic regression. The results of the ordinal logistic regression test showed partial simultaneous selection of TPS availability factors, TPS conditions, the role of community leaders and the impact of river waste showed a significant positive effect on the factors that influence the behavior of throwing garbage into the Cisadane river.

Abstract

The beach is a location of the largest marine debris discovery because of the dynamics of the oceanography which is in direct contact with the land. Not a few beaches are close to the river and are vulnerable to being affected by domestic or household waste that comes from river flows. Palabuhanratu Bay is one of the tourist areas affected by waste input from various community activities on the land. Thus, it is necessary to discuss the identification and analysis of marine debris pollution in Palabuhanratu Bay, especially those from the Cimandiri River. The purpose of this study was to identify the distribution of waste types based on full moon and new moon conditions in Palabuhanratu Bay, Sukabumi, West Java. Sampling of marine debris data uses the line transect method and then garbage collection is carried out when the waste has accumulated. The collected waste is then cleaned, sorted and collected by category and then recorded on the marine debris sampling sheet. The types of waste observed included seven categories. The results showed that the waste generation during the full moon was 927 items, while in the new moon was 2,099 items. The density of waste at the research site was 1.85 items/m² (full moon) and 4.20 items/m² (new moon). The types of waste that are mostly found during the full moon and new moon are plastic waste in the amount of 16.87 to 47.08% and other types of waste (wood) is 38.75 to 73.29%.

Abstract

The waters of Jakarta Bay are one of the waters that are influenced by several fresh water flows that enter from the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings. Sediment that enters the waters of Jakarta Bay is produced by the activities of the people who live in the Jakarta area and its surroundings. This study aims to analyze the sedimentation and distribution of suspended solids in the Jakarta Bay estuary using an observational approach and spatial analysis. This study uses the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) interpolation method. The dominant distribution of sediment in Jakarta Bay is sand with a size ranging from 0.25 to 0.125 mm. TSS (Total Suspended Solids) levels in 11 estuaries in Jakarta Bay ranged from 21 to 150 mg/L in first period and 11 ˗ 259 mg/L in second period. Sedimentation rates that occurred in 11 Jakarta Bay estuaries ranged from 11.12 g/cm2/day to 619.5 g/cm2/day in period one and 10.96 g/cm2/day to 1232.06 g/cm2/day in the second period which is located in Muara Cilincing in both periods. There is a suitable relationship between the TSS value and the sedimentation rate. Estuary TSS values and sedimentation rates are influenced by seasons and anthropogenic activities that occur in the estuary such as reclamation.
