Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) infection is one of the primaryinfectious diseases in many developing countries; even there are minor cases in some developed countries. TB infection spread through the air and ismore probable when using improper disinfectant on medical and laboratory equipment which related to TB research. The appropriate disinfectants which are commonly usedin laboratory equipment can reduce the risk of transmission of TB disease. Alcoholic compoundsare one of the common disinfectants with a broad spectrum activity towardsmicrobes, viruses, and fungus. We employed molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation to support virtual screening and ligand-receptor complex binding observation in searching for an appropriate mycobactericidal agent.Based on the analysis of molecular docking and molecular dynamics, pentadecanol has potency as a mycobactericidal agent with PanK as itsspecific receptor. The Gibbs free energy (∆G) for the interaction of pentadecanol with PanKhas been found to be -5.5 kcal/mol. Molecular dynamics analysis at 300K and 1 atm for 5 ns showed a little change in the confirmation of the binding site, whilepentadecanolwas still being bound by its binding siteon PanK.

Abstract

Curcumin, the major compound of Curcuma longa L, has been proven to have the toxicity effect on prostate cancer cell. This research was aimed to study the affinity and interaction of curcumin and its analogs as compettitive inhibitor to androgen hormon before working in vitro/in vivo research. Curcumin and its analogs were transformed into 3D structure, then docked to androgen receptor (3B67). The data of Gibbs energy (?G) value showed stability interaction between ligand and androgen receptor residues. The docking results showed that curcumin and its analogs have potential as inhibitor on androgen receptor. Based on results ?G score, analog 4 (1,7-bis-(3,4-dihydroxy-phenyl)-hepta-1,6-diene-3,5-dione) has highest potential as the inhibitor for androgen receptor.

Abstract

Diabetes is one of the emergency diseases worldwide due to the large case each year. Therefore, searching the potential treatment become crucial to treating the disease. In this research, homology modeling and molecular docking were employed to analyze the active compounds of Makassar fruit (Brucea javanica) as antidiabetic. Alpha glucosidase (AG) is used as a target, and the ligands are javanicin and javanicisode B, both active molecules of Brucea javanica. According to molecular docking results, all ligands have the potential to bind to the receptor because of their negative energy scores. Also, javanicin has higher binding energy (-8.0 kcal/mol) than the control (-5.7 kcal/mol). Furthermore, hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions allow these two active chemicals to attach to an important location on AG. Thus, our finding implied that two active compounds of Brucea Javanica could be inhibitors for the receptor, and javanicin may become a promising drug against diabetes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of tourism on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in five provinces in Indonesia identified as super-priority destinations: North Sumatra, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and North Sulawesi. This study includes three independent variables: number of tourists, number of tourist attractions, and room occupancy rate, which are analyzed partially and simultaneously. This research uses quantitative methods, with secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) covering the period 2018 to 2023. The analytical approach used was panel data regression with Eviews 12 software, and the Common Effect Model (CEM) was selected based on the results of the Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange multiplier tests. The findings of this study reveal that the three variables have a favorable and substantial impact on tourism sector GRDP. The three factors can collectively explain 65.04% of the variation in GRDP. The findings highlight the importance of increasing the number of tourists, improving tourist attractions, and optimizing accommodation occupancy rates in driving regional economic growth. Consequently, the findings of this study are intended to help local governments develop successful and long-term tourism programs.

Abstract

Mamuju Regency, located in West Sulawesi, is a region highly vulnerable to various types of natural disasters, including earthquakes, floods, and landslides. However, following the earthquakes in January and June 2021, the use of Manakarra Stadium as a gathering point for evacuees revealed significant social issues due to the poorly organized placement of facilities. In this context, Manakarra Stadium is being proposed as an integrated disaster evacuation facility, serving not only as a sports venue but also as a center for protection and recovery for the community. This study aims to design Manakarra Stadium as an effective and efficient evacuation facility in the context of disaster risk reduction. Utilizing a data-driven approach and community needs analysis, the proposed design is expected to make a significant contribution to enhancing disaster resilience in the region. The design of this evacuation facility at Manakarra Stadium could serve as a model for both government and community disaster responses in the aftermath of future events.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and develop a K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN)-based classification model using various distance calculation methods, namely Euclidean, Manhattan, Minkowski, and Hamming Distance. To improve the model’s accuracy, the results from each distance method are combined using a weighted average technique. The datasets used are the Iris and Breast Cancer datasets obtained from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. Preprocessing is carried out using normalization with StandardScaler to ensure uniform feature scaling. The model is tested using cross-validation techniques and evaluated using accuracy metrics and a confusion matrix to assess classification performance. Based on the experimental results, the use of multiple distance methods combined with a weighted average approach yields improved accuracy compared to the conventional KNN method that relies on a single distance calculation. The findings of this study indicate that the combination of distance methods in KNN can enhance model performance in classification tasks. This study is expected to contribute to the development of a more adaptive KNN algorithm tailored to diverse data characteristics.
