Abstract

Abstract Saving represents residual income after consumption and contributes to economic growth through investment. This study aims to analyze the savings preferences of West Java residents, one of Indonesia’s most populous provinces. Data were derived from the 2018 SUSENAS, published in 2019, reflecting conditions before the Covid-19 pandemic. A savings ownership model was developed to capture preferences, with key determinants including expenditure, education, marital status, gender, age, place of residence (urban/rural), and district/city controls. The findings indicate that all variables significantly affect savings ownership. Expenditure, age, and the male dummy show negative coefficients, while education, marital status, and residence in urban areas display positive effects. Despite these influences, the proportion of savings holders in banking institutions remains relatively low in West Java. The study highlights the relevance of government policies, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, where channelling cash assistance through banks proved to be an appropriate and effective strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge of oral and dental health and patient compliance in undergoing repeated treatment at one of the Joint Dental Practices in Sumedang. The research method used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The research sample consisted of 30 respondents randomly selected from patients undergoing repeated treatment. Data collection was carried out through an online questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, consisting of knowledge and compliance instruments. Data analysis used the chi-square test. The results showed a statistically significant relationship between knowledge of oral and dental health and patient compliance (p=0.031). A total of 46.67% of respondents were compliant, 40% were fairly compliant, and 13.33% were non-compliant. The majority of respondents had good knowledge (40%) and were dominated by women (70%), aged 18-30 years (56.67%), and had higher education (73.33%). The conclusion of this study is that good knowledge of oral and dental health plays an important role in increasing patient compliance with repeated treatment. Research recommendations include strengthening patient education and effective communication approaches by dental health workers.

Abstract

Anemia is a global health problem commonly experienced by adolescent girls, with serious implications for reproductive health and future pregnancies. This study aims to describe adolescent girls' knowledge about Iron Supplement Tablets (TTD) in preventing anemia and reproductive health. This descriptive-analytic study was conducted at SMAN 15 Bekasi City with a sample of 50 female students selected by purposive random sampling. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. Results showed that all respondents (100%) knew the definition of anemia, 94% knew that the main cause of anemia is lack of iron intake, and 100% knew anemia symptoms such as difficulty concentrating and frequent drowsiness. 100% knew iron-rich foods, and 96% agreed to consume iron supplements during menstruation. However, only 46% knew all the long-term impacts of anemia. Conclusion: Adolescent girls' knowledge about anemia and TTD is good, but understanding of long-term impacts still needs to be improved through more intensive education.

Abstract

Decentralization creates a need to discuss education inequality on a smaller scale to formulate a better development policy. This study aims to give insights on how education inequality can vary across districts depending on the characteristics attributed to the said region. By calculating education Gini indices, we found that regencies and agricultural districts tend to experience worse education inequality than municipalities and non-agricultural districts. Adding to that, using panel data regressions, we also found that the data shows the opposite of education Kuznets curves, contradicting some of the previous studies. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the importance of measuring education inequality in a smaller scale to improve the accuracy of development policies.
