Abstract

Reducing maternal mortality is one of the targets for achieving global health Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The cause of maternal death is still a major problem. The breadth of the territory and the variety of demographic, economic, social, and cultural conditions of the Indonesian people are important to investigate regarding the causes of maternal death in the community. The purpose of this study was to find out the causes of maternal death in one of the districts in the province which is in the eastern part of Indonesia.  a retrospective observational study was conducted on 23 cases of maternal death. Data collection has been carried out using the three-delay model approach. the majority of maternal deaths were caused by two delays, 1) being late in deciding to seek care at a health facility due to lack of awareness of complications (78.%), low-income families (74%), and the culture of visiting traditional healers to help with deliveries (57%), and 2 ) were late reaching health facilities due to cost and availability of transportation (52%), poor road conditions (43%), and travel time > 1 hour (39%). awareness of mothers and families about the dangers of perinatal complications is an important point that must be addressed early so as not to affect delays in making decisions to seek care at health facilities, which ultimately results in delays in reaching health facilities, and delays in receiving treatment from health workers.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Stunting adalah kondisi gagal pertumbuhan pada anak usia di bawah lima tahun (balita) akibat kekurangan gizi kronis. Stunting ditandai dengan tinggi badan anak yang lebih pendek dari standar usianya. Deteksi dini stunting merupakan hal yang penting dilakukan, karena stunting dapat memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap kesehatan dan kesejahteraan anak. Kader posyandu merupakan tenaga kesehatan yang berperan penting dalam deteksi dini stunting. Deteksi dini stunting dapat dilakukan dengan cara mengukur pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak secara rutin. Deteksi dini bisa dilakukan melalui pemantauan tumbuh kembang setiap bulan. Selain itu kader posyandu dapat memberikan penyuluhan dan edukasi tentang stunting kepada masyarakat, mengajarkan pengolahan bahan pangan lokal untuk PMT dan mengajarkan pijat bayi kepada orangtua bayi/balita untuk stimulasi tumbuh kembang. Tujuan memberdayakan Masyarakat (kader dan orangtua bayi/balita) untuk mencegah stunting melalui 3P (Penyuluhan kesehatan, pemanfaatan bahan pangan lokal dan pijat bayi). Metode Penelitian Penyuluhan kesehatan, pelatihan pemanfaatan bahan pangan lokal dan pelatihan pijat bayi pada kader posyandu. Kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat dapat dilakukan dengan baik yang ditandai dengan antusiasme peserta mengikuti kegiatan, kader dan orangtua dapat mempraktikkan cara pembuatan PMT Modisco modifikasi dengan bahan pangan lokal serta dapat mempraktikkan kembali pijat bayi untuk stimulasi tumbuh kembang. Pemberdayaan masyarakat (kader dan orangtua) melalui program 3P sudah terlaksana dengan baik sesuai dengan waktu yang telah ditetapkan dan diharapkan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif untuk mencegah stunting. Kata Kunci: Stunting, Penyuluhan, Pangan Lokal, Pijat Bayi  ABSTRACT Stunting is a condition of growth failure in children under five years of age (toddlers) due to chronic malnutrition. Stunting is characterized by a child's height being shorter than the age standard. Early detection of stunting is important because stunting can have a significant impact on children's health and welfare. Posyandu cadres are health workers who play an important role in the early detection of stunting. Early detection of stunting can be done by regularly measuring a child's growth and development. Early detection can be done by monitoring growth and development every month. Apart from that, posyandu cadres can provide counselling and education about stunting to the community, teach local food processing for providing additional food and teach baby massage to parents of babies/toddlers to stimulate growth and development. Purpose to empower the community (cadres and parents of babies/toddlers) to prevent stunting through health education, use of local food ingredients and baby massage. Health education, training on the use of local food ingredients and baby massage training for posyandu cadres. Community service activities can be carried out well as indicated by the enthusiasm of the participants in participating in the activities, cadres and parents can spread the method of making Modisco modifications using local food ingredients and can retransmit baby massage to stimulate growth and development. Community empowerment (cadres and parents) through the 3P program has been implemented well in accordance with the stipulated time and is expected to be used as an alternative to prevent stunting. Keywords: Stunting, Counselling, Local Food, Baby Massage

Abstract

ABSTRAK Angka stunting di Indonesia terus menunjukkan penurunan signifikan, dari 27,7% pada tahun 2019 menjadi 19,8% pada tahun 2024, namun masih terdapat kesenjangan antarwilayah dengan prevalensi tinggi di beberapa provinsi. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah rendahnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan orang tua serta kader posyandu dalam pemenuhan gizi anak, khususnya dalam pengolahan bahan pangan lokal untuk Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT). Pelatihan dan pendampingan pemanfaatan bahan pangan lokal menjadi strategi efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut sekaligus mendorong kemandirian pangan keluarga. Melalui optimalisasi potensi pangan lokal yang melimpah, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat peran masyarakat dalam upaya pencegahan dan penanganan stunting secara berkelanjutan di Indonesia. Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan orang tua serta kader posyandu dalam mengolah bahan pangan lokal menjadi PMT pemulihan bagi anak stunting serta mendukung pemenuhan gizi balita secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan, serta berkontribusi dalam menurunkan prevalensi stuntingdi tingkat keluarga dan masyarakat. Kegiatan dalam bentuk pelatihan, pendampingan dan lomba kreasi cipta menu bahan pangan lokal untuk anak stunting. Hasil: kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan pemberian PMT 90 hari menunjukkan hasil 4 balita berat badan normal, 2 balita berisiko gizi lebih dan 2 balita dengan gizi kurang. 1 Balita dengan penyakit infeksi telah dilakukan rujukan ke RS. Pelatihan dan pendampingan pemanfaatan bahan pangan lokal efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kemandirian orang tua serta kader dalam pembuatan PMT bergizi seimbang bagi anak stunting. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi nyata terhadap perbaikan status gizi anak dan percepatan penurunan angka stunting di masyarakat. Kata Kunci: Pelatihan, Pendampingan, Kader, Orangtua, PMT, Bahan Pangan Lokal, Stunting.  ABSTRACT The stunting rate in Indonesia continues to show a significant decline, from 27.7% in 2019 to 19.8% in 2024. However, disparities remain between regions, with high prevalence in several provinces. One contributing factor is the low knowledge and skills of parents and integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres in meeting children's nutritional needs, particularly in processing local food ingredients for supplementary feeding (PMT). Training and mentoring in the use of local food ingredients is an effective strategy to improve these skills while encouraging family food self-sufficiency. By optimizing the abundant potential of local food, this activity is expected to strengthen the role of communities in sustainable stunting prevention and management efforts in Indonesia. Increasing the knowledge and skills of parents and integrated health post (posyandu) cadres in processing local food ingredients into recovery PMT for stunted children and supporting the fulfillment of toddler nutrition independently and sustainably, as well as contributing to reducing the prevalence of stunting at the family and community level. Activities in the form of training, mentoring and competitions to create local food menus for stunted children. 90-day PMT training and mentoring activities showed results for 4 toddlers with normal weight, 2 toddlers at risk of overnutrition, and 2 toddlers with malnutrition. One toddler with an infectious disease was referred to the hospital. Training and mentoring on the use of local food ingredients effectively increases the knowledge, skills, and independence of parents and cadres in preparing nutritionally balanced PMT for stunted children. This activity significantly contributes to improving children's nutritional status and accelerating the reduction of stunting rates in the community. Keywords: Training, Mentoring, Cadres, Parents, PMT, Local Food Ingredients, Stunting.
