Abstract

This study analyzes the readiness of Sumedang Regency in organizing international sport tourism events such as Tour de Singkarak. Sumedang has supporting geographical and cultural potential, but it needs in-depth studies related to infrastructure, government support, and community and private sector participation. The methods used are literature studies and in-depth interviews with the Head of Disparbudpora and the local community. The results of the study show that Sumedang has potential routes for cycling in the Jatigede, Kampung Toga, and Gunung Tampomas areas. However, supporting infrastructure such as roads, public facilities, and accommodation still need to be improved. This event has the potential to improve the local economy through the culinary and accommodation sectors, but sponsorship support still needs to be strengthened. The community welcomed this event, with the hope of improving facilities and training. Environmental sustainability is also a major concern, especially in waste management. In conclusion, Sumedang has great potential as a host for sports tourism events, but requires infrastructure improvements, promotional strategies, and further collaboration between the government, community, and private sector in order to optimize the potential for sports tourism and improve the regional economy.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of early childhood athletes at the elementary school level has a strategic role in forming a sustainable foundation of skills, character, and sports achievements. This study aims to analyze the supporting capacity of sports facilities and infrastructure as well as the role of non-physical reinforcement in developing the achievements of athletes participating in the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) at the elementary school level. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design carried out in five State Elementary Schools in Rancakalong District, Sumedang Regency. The study participants consisted of student athletes, Physical Education teachers, and principals who were selected purposively based on their involvement in the development of athletes. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically through the stages of data reduction, categorization, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the availability of sports facilities and infrastructure is not even and has not fully supported technical development in several sports. However, limited facilities are not the main factor that hinders achievement. Non-physical reinforcement that is consistently provided through motivation, technical guidance, appreciation, school policies, and parental support plays a dominant role in maintaining athlete motivation, training consistency, and confidence. Thus, facilities and infrastructure function as supporting factors, while psychological, social, and managerial strengthening is the main factor in improving athletes' achievements in elementary school. This research contributes to strengthening the school-based athlete coaching model in the context of limited facilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential for fisheries tourism development in the Jatigede Reservoir, Sumedang Regency, using a qualitative descriptive research method with an analytical framework of Marketability, Sustainability, Participation, and Disaster Mitigation (MSP-DM). Jatigede has a unique submerged forest ecosystem, unlike other dams, which serves as a habitat for large predatory fish such as Hampala and Channa, creating specific technical challenges for the national sportfishing community. Data collection was conducted through participant observation, document review, and in-depth interviews with managers, fishing communities, local communities, and the Indonesian Fishermen's Association (APRI). The findings reveal a paradox between economic exploitation and conservation; where massive digital promotion has made Jatigede a "new giant" of national fisheries but also puts pressure on the sustainability dimension. Efforts to limit the number of rafts often conflict with the drive for economic profitability of local communities. The study concludes that Jatigede's enormous potential can only be optimized if there is synchronization between regulations on the number of fishing gear and safety standards based on integrated risk management. Community participation has successfully transformed the village's economic structure through the service sector, but disaster mitigation remains reactive rather than preventative. Furthermore, Jatigede's vast potential can only be maximized if regulations on fishing gear quantities and safety standards are synchronized based on integrated risk management.
