Abstract

The development of early childhood athletes at the elementary school level has a strategic role in forming a sustainable foundation of skills, character, and sports achievements. This study aims to analyze the supporting capacity of sports facilities and infrastructure as well as the role of non-physical reinforcement in developing the achievements of athletes participating in the National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) at the elementary school level. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design carried out in five State Elementary Schools in Rancakalong District, Sumedang Regency. The study participants consisted of student athletes, Physical Education teachers, and principals who were selected purposively based on their involvement in the development of athletes. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed thematically through the stages of data reduction, categorization, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the availability of sports facilities and infrastructure is not even and has not fully supported technical development in several sports. However, limited facilities are not the main factor that hinders achievement. Non-physical reinforcement that is consistently provided through motivation, technical guidance, appreciation, school policies, and parental support plays a dominant role in maintaining athlete motivation, training consistency, and confidence. Thus, facilities and infrastructure function as supporting factors, while psychological, social, and managerial strengthening is the main factor in improving athletes' achievements in elementary school. This research contributes to strengthening the school-based athlete coaching model in the context of limited facilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential for fisheries tourism development in the Jatigede Reservoir, Sumedang Regency, using a qualitative descriptive research method with an analytical framework of Marketability, Sustainability, Participation, and Disaster Mitigation (MSP-DM). Jatigede has a unique submerged forest ecosystem, unlike other dams, which serves as a habitat for large predatory fish such as Hampala and Channa, creating specific technical challenges for the national sportfishing community. Data collection was conducted through participant observation, document review, and in-depth interviews with managers, fishing communities, local communities, and the Indonesian Fishermen's Association (APRI). The findings reveal a paradox between economic exploitation and conservation; where massive digital promotion has made Jatigede a "new giant" of national fisheries but also puts pressure on the sustainability dimension. Efforts to limit the number of rafts often conflict with the drive for economic profitability of local communities. The study concludes that Jatigede's enormous potential can only be optimized if there is synchronization between regulations on the number of fishing gear and safety standards based on integrated risk management. Community participation has successfully transformed the village's economic structure through the service sector, but disaster mitigation remains reactive rather than preventative. Furthermore, Jatigede's vast potential can only be maximized if regulations on fishing gear quantities and safety standards are synchronized based on integrated risk management.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the subjective experiences, phenomenological meanings, and motives for the involvement of the people of Bandung City in the sport of padel. Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, this study involved 50 informants consisting of 20 active players, 10 coaches, 10 field managers, and 10 non-participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, passive participatory observation, and digital documentation studies, then analyzed using NVivo software through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding stages. The study found four main findings: (1) The construction of meaning of padel is formed through four dimensions health, recreation, social space, and urban lifestyle identity; (2) Players lived experience is built through a process of social introduction, regular playing routines, community interaction, and internalization of padel as a lifestyle; (3) Involvement is driven by because motive (social homophily and FOMO) that transitions into in-order-to motive (networking, health, personal branding); (4) There are massive symbolic consumption practices and social distinctions that create upper-middle-class exclusivity. It is concluded that padel in Bandung City is not merely a temporal sports trend, but rather an arena of lifestyle commodification that reproduces the social boundaries of urban communities. Abstract

This research is motivated by the low shooting accuracy of futsal players, which is generally caused by suboptimal mastery of basic techniques, poor movement coordination, and the lack of structured and sustainable training programs. In futsal, shooting accuracy is a crucial indicator that directly influences the success of scoring goals. Therefore, a systematic training method is needed to improve this ability. This study aims to determine the effect of structured training on improving shooting accuracy among UPI Sumedang futsal UKM players. The method used was a quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest experimental design. The sample consisted of 15 players who actively participated in futsal UKM activities. Data were collected through shooting accuracy tests conducted before (pretest) and after (posttest) the implementation of a structured training program. Data analysis was carried out using statistical tests to determine the differences in results before and after treatment. The results showed a significant improvement in shooting accuracy after the implementation of structured training. This improvement was indicated by the difference in the average scores between pretest and posttest, supported by statistical test results showing a significant effect. These findings indicate that systematic, targeted, and repetitive training effectively improves basic shooting techniques. Furthermore, the improvement was influenced by a combination of technical training, target-based methods, drill exercises, and physical components such as leg muscle explosiveness and eye-leg coordination.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of circuit training on freestyle swimming leg speed in athletes aged 8–12 years. Foot speed is one of the important factors that affect swimming performance, so effective training methods are needed to improve it. This study used an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study sample amounted to 30 athletes who were divided into experimental groups and control groups. The experimental group was given treatment in the form of circuit training exercises, while the control group underwent routine exercises. Data collection was carried out using a freestyle leg speed test of 25 meters measured in units of time (seconds). The results showed that both groups experienced improvement, but the improvement in the experimental group was higher than in the control group. The average time in the experimental group decreased from 39.53 seconds to 32.33 seconds, while in the control group decreased from 41.00 seconds to 39.47 seconds. The results of statistical analysis showed a significant difference between the two groups. These findings show that circuit training is  more effective than regular exercise in increasing freestyle leg speed. The novelty of this study lies in the application  of circuit training as a structured ground training method to increase foot speed in early age athletes. This study provides empirical evidence on the effectiveness of dryland circuit training in enhancing lower-limb propulsion performance in young swimmers.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the factors influencing elementary students’ interest in football learning in Jalancagak District. A qualitative case study design was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of students’ experiences and perceptions toward football learning. Participants consisted of elementary students and physical education teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis assisted by NVivo 12 software. The findings revealed that students’ interest in football learning was shaped by both internal and external factors. Internal factors included personal motivation and aspirations to become professional football players, while external factors involved family support, teacher roles, learning methods, facilities, and media exposure. Engaging practice-based learning, supportive teachers, and positive family encouragement significantly enhanced students’ enthusiasm and participation in football learning. However, limited facilities and inadequate infrastructure were identified as challenges affecting learning effectiveness. This study contributes to the literature by providing a contextual and qualitative understanding of how students construct interest in football learning within elementary school settings. The findings suggest the importance of adaptive learning strategies, supportive school environments, and improved facilities to foster students’ engagement in physical education.

Abstract

The low freestyle swimming speed in elementary school students is influenced by less than optimal leg muscle strength, explosive power, and leg movement coordination. In addition, the training methods used are still less varied so that the most effective method in increasing freestyle swimming speed is not yet known. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Jump Rope and plyometric training on increasing freestyle swimming speed. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of 15 students who were divided into a Jump Rope group, a plyometric group, and a control group. The data collection technique used a freestyle swimming speed test through a pretest and posttest. Data analysis was carried out using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using One Way ANOVA. The results showed that all groups experienced an increase in freestyle swimming speed. The Jump Rope and plyometric groups showed a greater increase than the control group, with a higher average increase. However, the results of the ANOVA test showed no significant difference between the treatment groups. In conclusion, both Jump Rope and plyometric training are equally effective in increasing freestyle swimming speed, but there is no significant difference in effectiveness between the two.
