Abstract

This article has a focus on describing the effectiveness of the training and assistance in preparing class action research proposals for science teachers in Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. This training activity took place at SMPN 10 Barabai, which was attended by 36 science / science teachers in Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. The effectiveness of training and mentoring can be seen from the achievements of teachers as seen from the pretest and posttest. The results of the pretest and posttest were tested whether there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest values using the paired sample t-test. If the paired sample t-test results indicate significant differences between the pretest and posttest values, then proceed with the N-gain test. The effectiveness of the conclusion is the training and assistance in preparing class action research proposals for science teachers in the Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency in the high category. Thus, it is recommended that further training be carried out related to writing class action research reports. This kind of training is also needed for teachers in other regions, as well as in other subjects.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills (CTS). This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects consisted of 31 students of Class XI MIPA in one of the high schools in the city of Banjarmasin. The instrument is in the form of 6 CTS test items that measure 2 sub-indicators, namely drawing conclusions from the results of investigating and evaluating (formulating alternative solutions). Descriptive data analysis by describing CTS on the two sub-indicators. The results showed that the CTS of students at this time were still in the low category, which was marked from the percentage of 2 CTS sub-indicators namely drawing conclusions from the results of investigating and evaluating (formulating alternative solutions) which was still low under 10%. Further research needs to be done on CTS which is allegedly capable of being trained through an inquiry model based worksheets.

Abstract

The lack of training in higher-order cognitive thinking skills in physics makes most students of class XI MIPA in a high school in Marabahan unable to solve problems that require the ability to analyze (C4) and evaluate (C5) well. This study was intended to describe the effectiveness of using the web-integrated CinQASE learning model to train higher-order thinking skills in the C4 and C5 domains. This study used the pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The efficacy of the web-integrated CinQASE learning model to train higher-order thinking skills is calculated with the eta-squared effect size for a paired sample t-test. In contrast, the description of students' achievement in higher-order thinking is viewed from the percentage of the average score of the student learning outcomes test on items that have C4 and C5 domains. The results showed that using the model had moderate effectiveness (η2 = 0.94) and helped train students’ ability to think at a higher level, as shown by an increase in students’ achievement in higher-level thinking in the good category. Thereby, the use of the web-integrated CinQASE learning model can supply considerable benefits in training students’ higher-order thinking skills. These results also write down a practical need for teachers and schools to implement learning approaches that use the potential of technology to enhance learners’ higher-order thinking skills in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using comic teaching materials in physics learning, focusing on the topic of effort and energy. The background of this research is based on the need to improve the quality of physics learning and improve student learning outcomes. In Indonesia's education context, efforts continue to be made to improve STEM-based education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) to keep up with the development of the 21st century. In the context of this research, comic teaching materials are used as a new alternative to overcome problems in physics learning. This research was conducted in one of the public high schools in Banjarmasin and used the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data were collected through student learning outcomes tests before and after using comic teaching materials. The results showed that this comic teaching material significantly increased student learning outcomes. Student scores increased from a low of 0.00 to 43.00 and a high of 18.50 to 80.50. This increase in learning outcomes test is included in the medium category. This research contributes to developing comic teaching materials as an effective and innovative learning media in physics learning. It is expected that the results of this study can be a reference for educators and curriculum developers in improving the quality of physics learning in Indonesia. In addition, this research also encourages further development and utilization of creative media in education to increase student motivation and interest in learning.

Abstract

Science literacy assessment is critical because it helps measure people's understanding of scientific concepts and ensures the effectiveness of science education. This study aimed to identify the quality of the instrument based on item response theory in assessing high school physics science literacy. This instrument is found in particle dynamics material. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. The location of data collection was in three schools in Banjarmasin City. The sample was obtained by cluster random sampling. The validity of the Rasch program was obtained from the results of the fit order items compared to the MNSQ and ZSTD value criteria. The validity test and discriminatory power analysis results showed that three invalid questions had to be discarded. The results showed that the developed science literacy instrument had a level of difficulty in the middle, so the instrument was suitable for both high-ability and low-ability students. This study implies that this assessment can help students relate physics concepts to local culture, increasing the relevance of learning and producing students who are not only academically competent but also have social and cultural awareness.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the achievement of students' spiritual attitudes in developing electronic teaching materials on thermodynamics with Al-Qur'anic verses. The type of research used is development research with students at one of the Islamic-based schools in Banjarmasin class XI in the 2023/2024 academic year. The research instrument used is the spiritual attitude observation sheet instrument. The research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that using electronic teaching materials on thermodynamics with Al-Qur'an verses improved spiritual attitudes from a value of 2.14 to 3.14 with a good category. Using teaching materials for thermodynamics with Al-Qur'an verses can improve the spiritual attitude of students, with details of 1 out of 29 students getting a very good category spiritual attitude score. 21 out of 29 students showed good category spiritual attitudes. 7 out of 29 students showed a fairly good spiritual attitude. The final achievement of students' spiritual attitudes of 3.14 in the good category was declared good based on the results of the observation sheet of students' spiritual attitudes.

Abstract

The lack of experimental methods in physics learning causes students in one of the public high schools in Banjarmasin City to have low scores for science process skills (SPS). The teacher's results also corroborate this needs analysis, which shows the need to implement learning that supports the development of SPS. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the SPS profile of students through the implementation of the POGIL model. The research method is categorized as quantitative research using a pre-experimental design. Data collection techniques regarding the SPS profile of students were carried out using the SPS observation sheet instrument by observers. The data analysis technique used was descriptive quantitative. The average achievement results for each SPS indicator are as follows: formulating problems 98.61; formulating hypotheses 93.52; identifying variables 57.41; conducting experiments 82.41; analyzing data 91.20; and drawing conclusions 74.54. Based on the results of this study, implementing the POGIL model is effective in training students' SPS. Overall, the study showed that the approach used improved learners' SPS and facilitated active and collaborative learning. This is highly relevant for educators and curriculum developers designing more effective learning experiences in science. Future research is expected to emphasize the SPS indicators and better organize students to play a more active role in learning activities.
