Abstract

Abstract : The purpose of this research is to describe how cross cultural understanding concept based of JF Standard on Japanese text book Marugoto A1: Activity and how to apply it in class activity. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with qualitative content analysis as method. The main data source is the textbook of Marugoto A1: Activity. The analysis was done by analyzing the teaching material using interactive data analysis technique. The analysis result show that activities containing the concept of cross-cultural understanding based on JF Standards is Japanese culture are presented in learning materials while other cultures are presented in class activities where students are asked to related Japanese Culture that they have learned and understood with students cultures. Marugoto also prioritizes receptive, productive and interactive systems in learning Japanese Language based on JF Standard through Can-do points that must be achieved in class activities.Key Words: Textbook Analysis; JF Standard; Cross-cultural Understanding

Abstract

Abstract: In the pragmatics, meaning or purpose that appear in a speech called implicatures. Implicatures that appear of two or more people who is conversing with each other called conversational implicature. The purpose of this research is to describe the implicatures of conversations in the Hidamari No Kanojo novel. Besides that, it also aimed to explain the purpose of the communicative acts on it. Theory that used were Grice (1975) to find out kind of implicatures conversational according to flouting of maxim in the coorperative principle and Brown (1980) about communicative acts. This research is a qualitative descriptive method to decribing the data in the Hidamari No Kanojo novel. The results of this study were (1) found general conversational implicatures as much as 12 data, the special conversational implicatures as many as 8 data (2) mean of conversational implicatures by the speakers explained through the communicative acts which is classified into 15 types according to their intended purpose.Key Words: Implicatures, Coorperative Principle, Communicative Acts, Novel, Pragmatics.

Abstract

Abstract: The research discussed about kakujoshi ni in Japanese sentences. The aim of this research is to know kakujoshi ni in Japanese language have an ability become proportion case marker and modal case marker according to Cook and Fillmore. The object of this research is Japanese sentence which have kakujoshi ni and verb. This research is a qualitative research which used descriptive method. As the result of this research, it is found that kakujoshi ni there are four of proportion case marker in Japanese language such as Agentive, Dative, Locative, Time and five of modal case marker in Japanese language such as Outer Benefactive, Outer Locative, Source of Modal case, Goal of Modal case, Time of Modal case, Result of Modal case. Beside that, this research find kakujoshi ni can be possible join to Active verb, Procces verb, and Stative verb.Key Word : Kakujoshi ni, Japanese Sentences

Abstract

Abstarct: This study described the types and abbreviation processes of Japanese loanwords (gairaigo). The background of this study is the origin form of the loanwords (gairaigo) that has shortened by Japanese people are difficult to understand for foreigners. The shortened loanwords (gairaigo) in the sentences of online data corpus Kotonoha (http://www.kotonoha.gr.jp) was chosen as the data of this study. The theory used in this study are the types of abbreviation theory by Kridalaksana (2007) and abbreviation processes of Japanese loanwords (gairaigo) by using theory of Labrune (2002) with qualitative descriptive approach. The result of this research are (1) found three types of Japanese loanwords (gairaigo) abbreviation, which is: clipping, acronym, and contraction (2) abbreviation processes of Japanese loanwords (gairaigo), clipping have eight abbreviation processes, acronym have two abbreviation processes, and contraction have one abbreviation process. The shortened word in the clipping form are mostly found because this type is more diverse than the other shortening types.Key Words: loanwords, abbreviation, clipping, acronym, contraction

Abstract

Abstract: The background of this study was firstly emerged from the data found by the researcher that the student’s ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) was still lack. The lack of ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) influences the student’s Japanese language mastery level. The aim of this study is to find out the difference of student’s ability in writing Japanese essays (Sakubun) after implementing Mind Mapping method. The research method of this study was quasi experiment with one group before after or pretest and post-test group design. The sample technique used was total random sampling. The study was done by conducting pretest to know the student’s prior ability, then giving treatments in the experiment class, and the last giving post-test to know the student’s ability. Based on the data analysis, the result was sig 14,36 > 5,04. It means that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that Mind Mapping method is effective in learning of Japanese essays (Sakubun) on the third-level students of Japanese Education Department Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education Riau University.Keywords: Sakubun, writing skill, Mind Mapping Method

Abstract

Abstract : This study identified the form of request expression, communication flow, and communication strategies which were used by the third grade students of Japanese Language Education Study Program University of Riau by doing roleplay as an instrument. This study used qualitative descriptive method. The data were obtained by using Simak Bebas Libat Cakap Technique and Record Technique. The theories used in this study are the Theory of Request Expressions in Japanese which is in the Minna no Nihongo Shokkyu I and II (1998), the Theory of  Request Expressions in Japanese which was initiated by Kaiser (2000), the Theory of Communication Flow by Shirou (2008), and the Theory of Communication Strategies by Yule (2006). The result of this study indicates 20 data of student’s conversation which contain the form of request expression and communication strategies. The most used form of request expressions are ~te moraemasenka and ~te kudasai. The used communication flow that likely to used is the students say foreword (maeoki) and directly stated reason (riyuu) without express apology (shazai). After that the students add a backup plan (daian). While in communicataion strategy, the most used communication strategy is negative politeness strategy. Keywords : Communication Strategies, Request Expressions, Communication Flow, Roleplay

Abstract

Abstarct: In this study described the meaning of the word kuubi (neck) which contains the meaning of figurative (metaphors and metonymys). Figurative meaning is a word or group of word that is not the true meaning, but to makes something up. In the figurative meaning there are various types of majas, one of them are metaphors and metonymys. Metaphor is a change of meaning of the equality of properties between two objects, while metonymy is a figuration which uses the feature or label and object to replace particular object. This research is a qualitative research with intralingual method. The theory used in this research is the theory of metaphor by Lakoff (1980) and Keraf (2006) and the theory of metonymy by Ullman (1997). The result of this research is found the meaning of word kubi (neck) which contains figurative mean as much as 12 data. 6 data including metaphor and 6 data including metonymy. The results of this study indicated that Japanese choose to use the word kubi (neck) in a sentences that contains figurative meaning which its mean related with the function of neck and associated with life and work.Keywords : Figurative Meanings, Kubi (Neck), Metaphor, Metonyms

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to determine student learning outcomes before and after using KWL method and to find out the influence of KWL method on students’s ability in reading comprehension Japanese text (Dokkai) by the third level students of Japanese Education Department Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education Riau University. This research used quasi experimental research with one group pretest - posttest design. The object of this research are 16 third level students of Japanese Education Department Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education Riau University Academic Year 2016/2017. Data collection was performed by giving test (pretest and post test). The given test was 3 essay and 6 questions shaped is matching vocabulary, essay to find out the students’s ability in reading comprehension (pretest and post test). On average pretest results obtained by the students was 50,31 and at posttest increased by 5,61 into 55,92. Then the pretest and posttest results processed using statistical test by paired sampling t-test  using software of SPSS Version 19 to get the value of the significant of the application KWL method.      Based on statistical calculations for the t-test using SPSS for Windows software version 19 with paired sample test found significant numbers 0,039 lower than 0.05 ( 0.039 < 0.05 ). It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, so there is a significant impact with the application of KWL method on the learning of Japanese reading comprehension (dokkai) by the third level students of Japanese Education Department Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Education Riau University.  Thus, it can be concluded that KWL method was effective in reading comprehension japanese text (dokkai). Key words: dokkai, method, KWL

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed to describe the code switching used on a conversation in 5 Ji Kara 9 Ji Made drama. The purpose of this research is to determine the type of code and the causes of code switching. The object of research in the form of 5 Ji Kara 9 Made drama. This research is a qualitative descriptive method. The results of this research were (1) There are 14 data using code switching in dialogue conversations, 10 data included into the type of code switching situational and 4 data is included into the type of code metaphorical (2) the causes of the code switching caused by the speaker, the person said and hearer as: changing the situation from the formal into informal, to benefit themselves, to reinforce their opinions and to demonstrate the ability of a foreign language to the listener. Each of code used by each speaker through the communication to explain what has been achieved from the speech uttered by each speaker where the speech has its own meaning and purpose.Keywords: sociolinguistics, code switching, drama.
