Abstract

Parenting education is a very important activity that should be implemented in early childhood education institutions. This activity is an opportunity for teachers to provide enthusiasm and foster awareness of parents to be involved in children's education. This research is a qualitative research with a case study approach carried out at RA Tiara Chandra Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study is to find out how parenting education was carried out in this school and how was the benefits to the develop parents’ awareness to succeed of the program of developing moral values of children. The results of the study showed that parenting education was carried out routinely in the form of training in living values education and monthly parenting to provide refreshment and evaluate programs that have been implemented. There were three groups of activities that had been carried out, namely education, involvement, and empowerment of parents. Parental involvement in developing children's moral values had a significant impact on children's awareness to live up to moral values in their daily life.Keywords: parenting education, moral values, early childhood

Kegiatan ini menjadi kesempatan bagi para guru untuk memberikan semangat dan menumbuhkan kesadaran orang tua untuk terlibat dalam pendidikan anak. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studikasus yang dilaksanakan di RATiara Chandra Yogyakarta. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana parenting education dilaksanakan di sekolah ini dan sejauh mana manfaatnya terhadap munculnya kesadaran orang tua dalam mensukseskan program penanaman nilai moral pada anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parenting education dilaksanakan secara rutin dalam bentuk pelatihan living values education dan parenting bulanan untuk memberikan penyegaran dan mengevaluasi program- program yang telah didilaksanakan. Terdapat tiga kelompok kegiatan yang telah dilakukan, yaitupendidikan, pelibatan, dan pemberdayaan orang tua. Keterlibatan orang tua terhadap penanaman nilai moral anak memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap kesadaran anak untuk menghidupkan nilai moral dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kata Kunci: parenting education, nilai moral, anak usia dini

Abstract

LIVING VALUES EDUCATION APPROACH IN DEVELOPING CHILDREN’S CHARACTER AT RA TIARA CHANDRA YOGYAKARTA. This study aims to find out how the Living Values Education (LVE) approach in instilling the character values of children in RA Tiara Chandra Yogyakarta. The research used qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques carried out through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data analysis technique are through data reduction, data display, and verification. The results showed that RA Tiara Chandra has used the LVE approach for the past three years, starting with the training given to teachers and staff as role models for children, then involving parents and the community around the school area. Training of adults was the first step to guide children in developing character values. This step was quite effective and had a positive impact on the development of children's character values in RA Tiara Chandra Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to assess the effectiveness of Montessori pedagogy in nurturing independent learning in early childhood education, specifically at PAUD Montessori Futura Indonesia. Utilizing a descriptive case study approach, the study examines daily routines, learning activities, and the role of educators in fostering independence. The findings indicate that children consistently engage in independent behaviors, such as choosing activities autonomously and requiring minimal teacher intervention. Educators are instrumental in crafting activities that bolster independent learning, and the learning facilities are strategically organized to facilitate this objective. The practice of age grouping within the institution further enriches the learning environment by instilling a sense of responsibility among older children. These outcomes have considerable implications for both research and practice in early childhood education, suggesting that Montessori pedagogy can effectively promote independent learning. However, the study is confined to a single educational setting and does not explore the Montessori approach's long-term effects or adaptability in diverse socio-cultural contexts. Future research is recommended to investigate these areas for a more holistic understanding of the efficacy of Montessori pedagogy in promoting independent learning.

Abstract

The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic has had a very significant impact on people's lives, including the implementation of early childhood education. This service was initiated because of the condition of the people who were very confused with a learning system that was very different from the normal conditions that had been carried out so far, so there was a need for assistance, both for teachers at school and for parents who were at home because the learning system used the learning system from house. The method used consists of several stages, namely: initial survey/observation, visiting residents' homes to socialize activities, implementing community service, consultation and learning at school and at home, and evaluation. The results of the service show that teachers in early childhood institutions are greatly assisted by the presence of students who carry out community service by assisting in the implementation of learning, socialization of healthy living during a pandemic, and assistance to parents to ensure that the implementation of learning at home runs smoothly as expected by the teacher.

Abstract

A leader is essentially a person who has the ability to influence the behavior of others in his work by using power. It is in his activities that the leader has the power to mobilize and influence his subordinates in connection with the tasks to be carried out. The types of principal leadership are generally personal leadership types, Non-personal leadership types, authoritarian leadership types, democratic leadership types, paternalist leadership types, leadership types by talent. The duties of the leader in his leadership include; diving into the needs of the citizens of the school he leads, from which desires can be learned realistic and truly achievable wills, convincing his subordinates of what is their will, which is realistic and which is actually a delusion. A professional leader is a leader who understands his duties and obligations, and can establish a good cooperative relationship with subordinates, so as to create a working atmosphere that makes subordinates feel safe, peaceful, and have a freedom in developing their ideas in order to achieve the common goals that have been set.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines how the tolerant culture of the Senggarang community, rooted in its traditions and values, influences religious tolerance education in early primary education in Tanjungpinang City, Indonesia, by utilizing Bourdieu’s theory of habitus and cultural capital to clarify the impact of cultural practices in multicultural communities on early childhood education oriented towards tolerance. Design/methods/approach – This study employs a qualitative phenomenological approach, utilizing direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis to explore the influence of cultural practices on tolerance education. Field research engaged diverse informants from Senggarang, including elementary school teachers from early elementary education, local community members, and officials familiar with the area's historical and social dynamics, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the community's tolerance-related practices. Findings – The findings reveal that the tolerant cultural practices in Senggarang, deeply rooted in historical and social contexts, significantly influence tolerance education among students. Children aged 6–7 years in early primary education adopt tolerance as part of the behaviors they learn through communal activities such as interfaith holiday celebrations and support for religious events. Cultural values that promote interfaith respect, evident in traditional interactions and mutual cooperation (gotong royong), are internalized by children through family and community engagement. These practices align with Pierre Bourdieu's concepts of habitus and cultural capital, demonstrating how inherited cultural norms and daily practices shape children's dispositions toward tolerance. Educators and the school environment further reinforce these practices by embedding tolerance education through routines and collaborative activities among diverse students. Research implications/limitations – This study provides valuable insights into how community culture influences school-based tolerance education. However, its findings may be less applicable to areas with different social and historical contexts. Future research could further examine the role of cultural capital and habitus in multicultural education contexts across various regions in Indonesia. Practical implications – The study highlights the importance of incorporating local cultural values into education to foster early tolerance, offering a model for using cultural practices as teaching tools in diverse communities. Originality/value – This study highlights how community culture and Bourdieu’s concepts of habitus and cultural capital enrich our understanding of tolerance education in first-grade primary school students (ages 6–7), encouraging further exploration of local cultural values to shape inclusive educational practices in multicultural societies. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali hubungan antara efektivitas bimbingan konseling dengan motivasi santri di pondok pesantren Salafiyah Al-Islamiyah Minhajussa’adah melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kasus dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari santri, pembimbing konseling, dan pengelola pondok pesantren. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bimbingan konseling yang diterapkan di pesantren memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan motivasi santri. Faktor-faktor yang mendukung efektivitas bimbingan konseling antara lain pendekatan personal yang humanis, kehadiran konselor yang responsif terhadap kebutuhan santri, serta penerapan teknik-teknik konseling yang sesuai dengan nilai-nilai pesantren. Selain itu, bimbingan konseling tidak hanya berpengaruh pada peningkatan motivasi belajar, tetapi juga pada aspek motivasi spiritual dan sosial santri. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar pengelolaan bimbingan konseling di pondok pesantren dapat lebih diperkuat, dengan mempertimbangkan karakteristik santri dan kebutuhan mereka dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

Kebijakan study from home selama pandemi COVID-19 menimbulkan masalah baru bagi pendidikan anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan prolematika dan strategi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk anak usia dini selama pandemi COVID-19 di Sangkhom Islam Wittaya School Thailand. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek penelitiannya adalah tiga orang guru Bahasa Inggris yang berasal dari Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permasalahan terdapat pada proses adaptasi pola baru yang mengharuskan guru, siswa, serta orang tua untuk meningkatkan kompetensi di bidang teknologi; keterampilan Bahasa Inggris orang tua yang tidak memadai; dan biaya operasional untuk membeli paket data internet. Sedangkan strategi yang digunakan oleh guru adalah menjalin komunikasi dengan orang tua untuk memberikan informasi terkait rencana pembelajaran, menyiapkan materi dengan menggunakan video maupun lembar kegiatan atau tugas yang mudah dipahami, dan menyiapkan platform pembelajaran online seperti YouTube, line group, dan google classroom.
