Abstract

The political geography of North Sulawesi provides insights into the local political dynamics with specific geographic considerations. This research employs a quantitative method, focusing on voter rationality, social identity, social cognition, social change, and political alternatives. Findings indicate that Generation Z students choose candidates based on vision, mission, performance, and digital information. Despite positive perceptions of performance, there is a discrepancy with the level of interest. Voter rationality is more focused on individual assessment than party loyalty. Social identity, including ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity, plays a role in political decision-making. Social media serves as the primary source of information, but voters actively seek verification from other sources. Mental processes and social cognition influence the interpretation of political information, and awareness of choosing in line with values, interests, expectations, and believed changes. Although voters have convictions, there is potential uncertainty in their choices. This study provides insights into political geography, voter behavior, and the socio-political context in North Sulawesi, supporting a deeper understanding of local political dynamics and student preferences.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of damage to mangrove forests, the causes of damage to mangrove forests, and to find out how the role of the government and society in maintaining and preserving mangrove forests in Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku Regency. The results showed that the damaged condition of the mangrove forest ecosystem, specifically in Kei Besar sub-district, was already in a critical condition (damaged), where most of the mangrove trees were dead/dry due to frequent felling, resulting in a decrease in numbers. This factor is caused by the low awareness of the people who use mangroves as firewood and ignore the function of mangroves as ecosystems that support the coastal environment and fish shelters and fishing grounds must be far from the coast. The role of the government is considered low and there are no rules in the use and preservation of mangroves in Kei Besar District, Southeast Maluku Regency. Therefore, public awareness and even the role of the sub-district government is needed in dealing with the damage to the mangrove forest ecosystem in Kei Besar on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the strategies employed by geography teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Airmadidi to enhance students' intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. A qualitative methodology was utilized, incorporating literature review, observations, interviews, and documentation for data collection. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students respond positively to the strategies implemented by teachers, such as paying attention to the teacher, engaging with the material presented, and demonstrating active participation in learning activities. These strategies contribute to positive student behaviors, including helping peers, effective time management, active engagement in the learning process, achieving good academic results, and striving for success. However, several factors hinder the efforts of teachers to enhance student motivation in geography learning. These factors include individual motives, lack of uniformity in teaching methods, limited media usage, inadequate environmental conditions, insufficient parental attention, and low motivation levels among students. To overcome these barriers, teachers can create a conducive learning environment, intensify interactions with students, employ enjoyable learning traps, and establish a supportive atmosphere for learning.
