Abstract

Gout arthritis pain is caused by a buildup of excess uric acid levels in the joints. Non-pharmacological interventions that can be applied are a combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil steam aromatherapy. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of a combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil vapor therapy on the intensity of Gout Arthritis pain. The research design uses Pre-Experimental (One group pre-post test design). The sample size is 24 respondents using purposive sampling. The results showed that before the intervention, almost all respondents (87.5%) had moderate criteria for Gout Arthritis pain intensity. Then after the intervention, the intensity of Gout Arthritis pain in the majority of respondents (54.2%) was in the mild criteria. Analysis with the Wilcoxon test (p-value 0.001 <α 0.05) showed that the combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil steam aromatherapy had an effect on the intensity of gout arthritis pain. The combination of warm ginger compresses and eucalyptus oil vapor therapy can reduce the pain of Gout Arthritis patients due to increased feelings of relaxation and decreased muscle tension and vascular vasodilation due to the release of endorphins. It is recommended that gout sufferers do this non-pharmacological therapy to reduce pain levels.

Abstract

Abstract Epistaxis is one of the emergencies in the field of ENT (ear nose throat), that is most often found in the community, including in the school environment. Students need to know the initial management of epistaxis so they can handle it well. The aim of this service activity is to provide management education for the initial treatment of epistaxis through simulation. The method for implementing this activity is through education and simulation involving 25 students who are members of the PMR SMK Cahnda Bhirawa Pare. The service activities were carried out in 3 sessions, namely: counseling about epistaxis, counseling on how to provide first aid for epistaxis and a simulation of how to provide first aid to individuals experiencing epistaxis. The result of this community service activity was that there was an increase in students' knowledge and ability in providing first aid to individuals experiencing epistaxis, namely from almost all (44%) in the poor category (before the activity) to almost all (92%) in the good category. Education using a simulation approach can increase students' understanding of first aid management for epistaxis cases so they are able to provide first aid appropriately. The education method using a simulation approach can be used as a medium for conveying information in the management of initial treatment of epistaxis in students who are in the adolescent group. Abstract

The potential eruption disaster on Mount Kelud needs to be considered at all times considering its impact on various things including the occurrence of health problems. In addition to physical health problems, such as respiratory disorders, vision, and physical injuries, which can befall residents, especially on the slopes of Kelud, mental health problems are also not uncommon among residents affected by volcanic eruptions. One group that is vulnerable to mental health problems is the elderly, children, and pregnant women. Therefore, prevention efforts are needed so that these groups do not experience various mental health problems such as acute stress reactions, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other exacerbations that arise as a direct result of disasters and other health problems. This is very likely to happen considering that one of the characteristics of disasters is that they are sudden, difficult to predict with certainty, have a large impact of damage, risk of death, cover a large area, and threaten the capacity of the local community. One of the efforts to minimize the impact of these disasters on the emergence of mental health problems is the empowerment of health cadres to increase community capacity in overcoming mental health problems in local vulnerable groups. The empowerment of cadres in this activity is carried out through educational activities about the risk of mental health problems that occur in the elderly, pregnant women, and children. Abstract  In addition, stress management techniques were also delivered through lectures demonstrations, and video screenings on stress management. This activity was attended by 40 elderly cadres, toddler cadres mental health cadres, and representatives of village officials. Participants followed the activity enthusiastically, by being actively involved in discussions and questions and answers related to how to make efforts to deal with mental health problems in the elderly, children, adolescents, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and the community in general. Participants also claimed to be satisfied and wanted to be actively involved in this activity in the future, especially in carrying out the duties and functions of cadres in recognizing mental health problems, mobilizing the community, making referrals, and documenting their performance. This activity can be recommended to increase the capacity of cadres to overcome mental health problems caused by disasters.

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure that occurs continuously can damage blood vessels and complications in the kidneys. One of the hypertension management to lower blood pressure can be done with exercise. The combination of Buerger Allen exercise and walking exercise is a form of exercise method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the combination of Buerger Allen exercise and walking exercise on blood pressure in hypertension patients in Sumberbendo Village, Pucanglaban District. The research design was pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest without control approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, 36 respondents were obtained from 115 populations. The dependent variable in this study was blood pressure. The instrument in this study used a blood pressure observation sheet. Statistical analysis used the Paired T-Test with α 0.05. The results of the study before being given the intervention of a combination of Buerger Allen exercise and walking exercise, most (61.1%) respondents experienced stage 1 hypertension, and after the intervention, most (72.2%) respondents experienced pre-hypertension. The results of statistical analysis obtained systolic blood pressure p-value = 0.001, diastolic blood pressure p-value = 0.001 (≤ α 0.05), so there is an effect of the combination of Buerger exercises and walking exercises can lower blood pressure. The combination of Buerger Allen exercises and walking exercises has a mechanism to help muscle pump (pumping blood into blood vessels) and vasodilation of blood vessels which will make blood circulation smooth and peripheral retention decreases so that systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreases. The combination of Buerger Allen exercises and walking exercises can be used as one of the hypertension management with physical activity to lower blood pressure.

Abstract

Burns are a form of tissue damage caused by contact with a heat or cold source. Indonesia is rich in herbal plants, including binahong leaves and chinese petai leaves which contain compounds for the angiogenesis process and collagen formation in the wound healing process. This study aims to determine the comparative effectiveness of binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia) and petai cina leaves (Leucaena leucocephala) in the healing process of Grade II burns in white rats. This type of quasi-experimental research uses a post-test only design approach. The sample consisted of 18 white mice which were divided into the binahong leaf intervention group and the petai cina leaf intervention group. The sampling technique uses random sampling. The independent variable in this study was wound treatment using binahong leaves, while the dependent variable was the healing process for grade II burns. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney Test with α=0.05, it was found that ρ=0.001 ≤ α(0.05) showed that there was an effect of using binahong leaves on the healing process of grade II burns with a difference of 2 days, it was faster to use binahong leaves because binahong leaves contains saponin and flavonoid compounds which can accelerate wound healing. The wound healing process using binahong leaves took an average of 11 days, while the wound healing process using the petai cina leaf group took an average of 13 days. Binahong leaves can be used as an alternative in wound care. Families can plant this plant as a family medicinal plant which can be used as herbal medicine.
