Abstract

Kecamatan Bonepantai merupakan salah satu kawasan pengembangan perikanan (KPP 4). Kecamatan Bonepantai memiliki 8 desa nelayan, salah satunya Desa Bilungala.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of the Problem Based Learning model to improve students' critical thinking skills on the human digestive system material of class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Moutong. The study used a pre-experimental design method with a one group pretest-posttest design approach involving 25 students of class XI IPA2. The research instruments included critical thinking tests (pretest and posttest), learning implementation sheets, student activity sheets, and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the learning implementation reached an average of 94% with the category (very good), student activity 94% (very good), and student response 91% (very positive). The average pretest score of 42.2 increased to 79.2 in the posttest with an N-Gain value of 0.59 (moderate category). Significant improvements occurred in the indicators of providing simple explanations and organizing strategies or actions, increasing from 34.4% and 32% to 92%, respectively. These results indicate that the implementation of the PBL model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in the human digestive system.

Abstract

The avocado (Persea americana), a recognized superfood and valuable horticultural commodity, exhibits significant morphological diversity due to long-term adaptation to various habitats, enhancing biodiversity. This study analyzed the diversity and genetic relationships of cultivated avocados in Gorontalo Regency. Using the Descriptors for Avocado (Persea spp.), 25 qualitative morphological traits were characterized, and a phenetic analysis of 17 accessions was conducted using UPGMA with Jaccard’s Coefficient. Accessions were collected from six villages across four sub-districts: Dulamayo Barat, Dumati, Hepuhulawa, Kayubulan, Kayumerah, and Tridarma. Results revealed substantial diversity in traits such as tree shape, and the morphology of stems, leaves, fruits, and seeds. Phenetic analysis grouped the accessions into two clades: Clade A, comprising 15 accessions in two clusters (similarity index: 64.7-29.0%), and Clade B, containing two accessions in one cluster (similarity index: 64.7%). Clades A and B exhibited a distant relationship, with a similarity index of 23.6%. Conserving the diverse avocado germplasm is essential for safeguarding genetic resources and supporting breeding programs to develop superior varieties in Gorontalo

Abstract

The decline in seed quality due to storage beyond the shelf life is a major problem in rice cultivation. One effort that can be made to improve seed viability is through invigoration techniques using natural ingredients, such as bean sprout extract (Phaseolus radiatus), which contains growth hormones. This study aims to analyze the effect of bean sprout extract on the viability of Ciherang rice seeds that have exceeded their shelf life and to determine the best treatment. The study was conducted from August to November 2024 at the Biology Laboratory of the UPTD Seed Center, Supervision and Certification of Agricultural Seeds of Gorontalo Province. The study used a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD) with bean sprout age (3, 5, and 7 days after sowing) and bean sprout extract concentration (20 g/L, 40 g/L, and 60 g/L) as factors, with four replications. The parameters observed included germination rate, maximum growth potential, and sprout length. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and DMRT post-hoc test at a 5% level. The results showed that bean sprout extract had a significant effect on all observed parameters. The treatment of 5-day-old bean sprouts with a concentration of 20 g/L gave the best results with a germination rate of 95.5%, maximum growth potential of 98.5%, and the highest sprout length. Sprout extract has the potential to be used as a natural alternative to improve the quality of rice seeds that have passed their storage period.
