Abstract

Midwives are one of the main health workers as the spearhead of health development in an effort to accelerate the reduction of MMR and IMR. For this reason, midwives who are skilled in conducting clinical procedures are needed with analytical, critical and precise skills in the management of care for women. This can be generated through quality midwife education providers, which are determined by the availability of human resources (lecturers), the quality of infrastructure, classroom learning curricula, laboratory and clinical practice and the condition of the practice area. The learning method is one of the supporting methods for the successful achievement of graduate competencies. This study aims to analyze the effect of the implementation of the blended learning method on the learning outcomes of block 5A midwifery students.Professional Ethics and Health Law in Midwifery Undergraduate Study Program, FK Unand. Design pThis research is a quasi experiment with a control group design research design. The research subjects were given treatment, namely the blended learning method. The analysis used to test the hypothesis is to seedifferences in the mean (average) of data for the treatment group (this year) and the control group (last year) fordetermine whether there is an effect of the implementation of the blended learning method on the learning outcomes of block 5A students. This study applies online learning methods in Block 5A. Respondents who were given treatment in this study were BP18 students, and control respondents were BP17 students who had implemented Block 5A learning in the previous year without using online methods. The results of the unpaired t test with the level of significance (α) are <0.05, which results in a probability value (p) of 0.000, which means that there is an effect of the implementation of the blended learning method on the learning outcomes of Block 5A students. In conclusion, blended learning has a positive impact on increasing the value and motivation of student learning in Block 5A

Abstract

Achievement of the learning objectives of a student with the method of learning problem based learning (PBL), can be influenced by the results of extracting their peer information in small groups because the information obtained by students will be discussed to perfect the knowledge gained. This study applies a small group discussion (SGD) and tutorial in the PBL method. The results of the study, there was an increase in the value of students before and after treatment with a value of p = 0,000, and there was a difference in the grades of students in 2017 and 2016, where the grades of students in 2017 were better than in 2016, with p = 0.001. The results of the interview that students prefer the SGD method over discussion in large classes, students feel better understand the discussion material, each group member is more active and gives their opinions according to the theory of the book or journal that has been studied, lecturer attention to each student is greater, so students are very enthusiastic in studying the material and discussing it. PBL method with SGD is very effective to be applied in learning to increase the activeness, interactive, learning motivation, and critical thinking of students.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), which is still high and far from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target, encourages midwives to increase promotive and preventive efforts in providing midwifery care and reproductive health. One of the efforts of midwives is to provide midwifery care based on Continuity of Care (CoC). Midwifery care covers the entire life cycle, from preconception, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, newborns, neonates, toddlers, adolescent preschoolers, and childbearing ages to the elderly. This sustainable care is expected to be able to explore the problems that exist in individuals and to overcome these problems by empowering husbands, families and communities. This activity aims to increase the number of better health degrees for women of childbearing age in every phase they go through, physically and psychologically/mentally, in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. The method was carried out by interviewing groups of women in the preconception period, groups of pregnant women, postpartum mothers, mothers who have babies and toddlers, and women of childbearing age. It involved Independent Practice Midwives in the Cities of Padang, Padang Panjang and Pariaman by providing communication, information, education, and counselling. Each group has increased knowledge of physical and psychological needs in every phase of their life and sufficient involvement of husband or family in pregnancy, postpartum and newborn phases. It is necessary to increase community empowerment in every phase to achieve health status in every cycle of a woman's life.

A descriptive design was utilized in this study. The population was active Bachelor of Midwifery students, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, in 2022, using a sample of 191 respondents with purposive sampling. Indicators of students' satisfaction with academic services included reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles. Data was collected using a ten-item questionnaire developed by the researchers with a Likert scale (1-4). This study was conducted in October 2022 using an online form. The respondents' level of achievement was in the fairly satisfactory category. The empathy indicator had the highest average TCR value among other indicators and was within the satisfied category. This research may give insight into providing opportunities for faculty management, especially study programs, to overcome weaknesses in the offered services and ensure better academic service quality. Abstract

Case-based learning is commonly used in various settings, including the medical field. This study aims to determine the effect of case-based learning video on learning motivation among midwifery students. This was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test approach. This study was conducted at the Bachelor of midwifery study program, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University from August to October 2021. Forty-nine student midwives were selected through total sampling technique. Demographic information and motivation data were collected using the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Descriptive statistics, ANOVA/Kruskal-Wallis test, and Paired T-Test/Wilcoxon Rank-sum test were applied to analyze the data. A p-value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. This study reported no significant differences between age and the MSLQ value components. Nonetheless, significant differences were found between parents' income with intrinsic motivation (p equals 0.012), task value (p equals 0.044), and self-efficacy (p equals 0.02). Furthermore, there was a significant difference between intrinsic motivation and residence (p equals 0.012) among the other value components. The mean scores for all value components of motivation increased after the case-based learning video intervention. Two value components (task value and efficacy) showed a significant difference (p-value 0.026 and 0.000). In conclusion, case-based learning video effectively improved motivation among students. Such finding is essential to developing suitable learning method for students.
