The research instruments are observations, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the problems faced by students when learning Arabic using film are films that are less interesting in terms of animation and graphics, inadequate subtitles, dialogues that are too fast, and mufrodat that are difficult to memorize. In addition, their learning motivation is still low in learning Arabic so that there are still many students who are not fluent in reading Arabic sentences, which causes their listening skills or maharotul istima' to be still relatively low.

Abstract

This study analyzes the temporal representation of verbs (fi'il) in Surah al-Baqarah and how the meaning of time is understood and translated into Indonesian. Using qualitative-descriptive methods and data from the mushaf of the Qur'an and the official translation of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, this study examines fi’il māḍī and muḍāri' morphosyntaxically, semantically, and pragmatically. The results show that temporal representations in the Qur'an are not linear and literal as in traditional Arabic grammar, but rather contextual and dynamic. Fi’il māḍī and muḍāri' have a flexibility of the meaning of time that depends on the context of syntax, qarīnah, and rhetorical functions in discourse. On the translation side, the Indonesian version generally adjusts the verb tense literally, but shifts in meaning often occur due to differences in language structure. Therefore, understanding the meaning of Qur'anic verbs requires an integrative approach between linguistic analysis and translation strategies. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of teaching nahwu al-Qur'an that combines grammatical aspects with pragmatic contexts and discourse to produce a deeper and more accurate understanding of the text.

Abstract

The improvement of motivation in learning Arabic by applying the principle of man jadda wajada is a strategic and relevant step. This principle not only motivates students to study earnestly but also shapes a positive mindset oriented toward success. The aim of this study is to observe the differences in learning motivation before and after the application of the man jadda wajada motivational phrase. Research Method: The research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test framework, utilizing a questionnaire that had undergone validity and reliability testing. The study was conducted with 33 respondents, using total sampling, and was carried out from August to December 2024. Research Results: The difference in learning motivation scores, with a positive shift (post-intervention scores higher than pre-intervention scores), was recorded in 26 students from the moderate motivation category, showing a significant change to 25 students in the high motivation category. The computed rank differences showed that the positive shift in the high motivation category was more dominant, with the average positive rank score higher than the negative rank score. Wilcoxon test analysis showed a significant difference between learning motivation scores before and after the man jadda wa jadda motivational intervention, with a Wilcoxon test result of p = 0.000 (α = 0.05).
