Abstract

This qualitative study explores the efforts of the Sumenep District government in developing community-based ecotourism, focusing on the potential of marine tourism and small islands on Madura Island. Despite the commitment to promoting ecotourism through branding initiatives such as the tagline “Sumenep: The Soul of Madura” and the slogan “Golden Triangle Islands” highlighting Gili Iyang, Gili Labak, and Gili Genting several challenges hinder progress. These include unequal tourist distribution among the islands, inadequate infrastructure and accommodation, poor coordination in tourism management, and inefficient resource utilization. The research aims to describe and analyze governmental efforts, identify potential ecotourism types, uncover obstacles preventing optimal development, and propose a development model for community-based ecotourism. Findings indicate that significant gaps in infrastructure and management must be addressed to leverage the islands' ecotourism potential effectively. The study concludes that a comprehensive strategy, including robust regulatory frameworks, is essential to ensure sustainable and protected ecotourism in the Golden Triangle Islands, ultimately benefiting local communities and preserving natural resources.

Abstract

Public Service Motivation (PSM) plays an important role as the foundation of intrinsic values for public officials, influencing performance, integrity, service quality, and the effectiveness of organizations performance. The growing body of research on Public Service Motivation (PSM) in public organizations has attracted increasing interest from both practitioners and academics in the fields of public administration and governmental bureaucracy. This study aims to investigate scientific literature related to PSM indexed in the Scopus database using a bibliometric analysis approach. The bibliometric data were analyzed with the help of VOSviewer software. A total of 119 articles published between 1999 and 2023 were selected for inclusion in this review. PSM has been examined from various perspectives. Public Personnel Management is the journal that most frequently publishes studies on PSM in public organizations. Andersen, L.B. and Aarhus Universitet are identified as the most prolific author and institution, respectively, contributing to the field. Furthermore, the United States is the most prominent contributing country in PSM research. The VOSviewer analysis revealed five dominant thematic clusters within the literature on PSM in public organizations. Two themes that remain underexplored are work engagement and burnout. Therefore, future research could place greater emphasis on these areas, as well as on related themes such as turnover and organizational culture.

Abstract

This community service aims to assist the village government of Ambeng-ambeng Watangrejo in Duduksampeyan Sub-District, Gresik Regency in registering and monitoring immigrants and conducting independent home isolation as a result of implementing the Widespread Social Restrictions Policy (PSBB) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The village government and the 19th level COVID task force are facing hurdles in collecting data and monitoring the isolated population. So there is a need for an online village information system that can record and monitor the population. The community is served through socialization methods and by assisting village officials and the Covid-19 task force in implementing the village information system. A community service outcome is a village information system that the village government can use to provide services to the community.
