Abstract

Reading interest is an intrinsic motivation that encourages students to actively engage in reading activities with a sense of enjoyment and autonomy. This study was motivated by the low reading interest among fourth-grade elementary students, often caused by reading materials dominated by plain text without visual support. Visual literacy offers an innovative approach by utilizing media such as picture books, educational comics, infographics, and videos to attract attention and enhance students’ comprehension. This research aims to analyze the implementation strategy of visual literacy to improve reading interest among fourth-grade students. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model conducted in two cycles. The findings indicate that visual media fosters interactive and meaningful learning experiences, leading to a significant increase in students’ reading interest. These results are expected to contribute to strengthening a culture of literacy in elementary schools

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine how well the use of augmented reality (AR) learning tools helps fifth-grade elementary school students understand mathematical concepts related to fractions.. The research was motivated by students' limited comprehension of the abstract nature of fractions and the lack of engaging educational tools capable of presenting the material in a meaningful and interactive way. Augmented reality is believed to improve student engagement and offer more appealing visual representations by integrating virtual elements into the real-world environment. A total of 30 students I participated in this study, which used a quasi-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest method. Information was collected through pre-tests, post-tests, written notes, and observations. We used SPSS software to analyze the data. The results showed that students' grades improved significantly, with the average increasing from 54.80 in the pretest to 91.83 in the posttest. The normality test indicated that while pretest scores were approximately normally distributed, the posttest scores followed a normal distribution. A one-sample t-test showed a statistically significant effect of AR media usage, with a p-value of 0.000 and t-values substantially higher than the critical value (pretest: 32.439; posttest: 112.071). These results suggest that AR-based instructional media are effective in supporting elementary students’ understanding of fraction concepts. Overall, the study confirms the positive impact of augmented reality in mathematics learning for fifth-grade students.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) technology in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning, specifically focusing on local wisdom material, to enhance the learning interest of fourth-grade students at SD 4 Srobyong. Conventional teaching methods often face challenges in fostering student enthusiasm for abstract or culturally specific material. AR, with its ability to integrate the real world with virtual elements interactively, offers significant potential to overcome these problems. The subjects of this study were fourth-grade students at SD 4 Srobyong. Data were collected through observation, a learning interest questionnaire, and interviews. The results indicate that the implementation of AR in IPAS learning, particularly for local wisdom topics, creates a more immersive and engaging learning experience, which significantly correlates with an increase in students' learning interest. It was found that students participated more actively in learning activities, demonstrated higher curiosity, and had a better understanding of concepts related to their local heritage.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the reading literacy of grade 1 students of SD Negeri 2 Ngasem through the use of flashcards. The background of the study is based on the low interest in reading and literacy outcomes of students, which is caused by less varied learning methods and the lack of attractive learning media. This study used a multi-cycle approach with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation of student activities, reading literacy tests before and after the intervention, and documentation of the learning process. The results showed an increase in the average reading literacy score from 74.77 in the pre-cycle to 75.55 in cycle 1, with the percentage of learning completeness increasing from 77.77% to 83.33%. The use of flashcards proved effective in improving students' motivation, participation, and reading literacy outcomes. This study recommends the use of interactive and innovative learning media such as flashcards, to improve reading literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in understanding the concept of fractions through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The background of this study focuses on students' still low abilities in: (1) analyzing mathematical problems; (2) planning solution strategies; (3) drawing logical conclusions when working on fraction problems. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) design model Kemmis & McTaggart which was implemented at SD Negeri 2 Tahunan during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research subjects consisted of 23 fourth-grade students who were selected purposively based on the results of the initial diagnosis. Data collection techniques were carried out by triangulation through: (1) formative evaluation tests; (2) participatory observation sheets; (3) learning video documentation; and (4) field notes. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively with a comparative descriptive approach. The results showed that the application of the PBL model was proven to be effective in improving: (1) students' critical thinking skills on average from 39.13 (low category) to 92.61 (very good category); (2) classical completeness from 8.7% to 91.3%; and (3) learning activities became more meaningful. Statistical analysis of paired sample t-test showed a significant difference (t=19.09; p<0.05) between before and after treatment. Other important findings include: (1) an increase in students' questioning skills by 78%; (2) an increase in the ability to provide arguments by 82%; (3) an increase in problem-solving skills by 85%. In addition, there was an increase in the following aspects: (1) group cooperation; (2) self-confidence; and (3) active involvement in class discussions.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the understanding of macapat songs by applying the Jigsaw cooperative learning approach. Although macapat songs have high moral and intellectual values, students often dislike them because they are considered complex and irrelevant. This study used the McTaggart model consisting of two cycles, combined with the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. Data were collected through various techniques, including observation, tests, interviews, and note-taking, and then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that students' understanding of the meaning of macapat songs increased significantly when the Jigsaw model was applied. The learning completion rate increased from 56% to 100%, while the average student score also increased from 72.33 in the pre-cycle to 86.6 in the first cycle. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the Jigsaw approach in improving student understanding. In addition, this method also succeeded in encouraging active student participation, increasing their confidence in class discussions, and fostering respect for the rich local culture. Thus, teaching local Javanese language through the Jigsaw cooperative learning paradigm can be considered an interesting and effective alternative approach. This approach not only helps students understand the material better but also strengthens their social and cultural skills. This research provides an important contribution to the development of more innovative and relevant teaching methods in the context of regional language learning, and encourages teachers to implement strategies that can increase students' interest and understanding of the valuable and diverse local culture. Through the application of this method, it is hoped that students will gain a greater appreciation for their cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning motivation of fourth-grade students of SDN 3 Jambu in Javanese language subjects, especially in Javanese script material, through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model combined with the use of flash cards. The background of this study is the low learning motivation of students as seen from the lack of active participation, low enthusiasm during learning, and lack of interest in the Javanese script material. These conditions have an impact on the achievement of unsatisfactory learning outcomes and an unpleasant learning atmosphere. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 20 fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out using observations of student activities, interviews with teachers and students, documentation of learning activities, and evaluation tests to measure learning outcomes at the end of each cycle. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student learning motivation after the implementation of the TGT learning model assisted by flash cards. This can be seen from the increasing activeness of students in groups, their enthusiasm in participating in educational games, and the results of learning evaluations that show a positive trend from cycle I to cycle II. The TGT model, which is based on cooperation and healthy competition, creates a more lively and enjoyable learning atmosphere and stimulates active student involvement. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament learning model supported by flashcard media is effective in increasing student motivation and learning outcomes in the Javanese Language subject, Javanese Script material.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep pembagian pada siswa kelas 3 SD melalui metode tusuk sate berbasis media realia plastisin. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari kesulitan siswa dalam memahami konsep pembagian secara abstrak dan kecenderungan guru menggunakan metode tradisional yang kurang interaktif. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus yang terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 3 SDN 9 Jambu sebanyak 31 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode tusuk sate dengan plastisin secara signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman siswa. Nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat dari 62 (pra-siklus) menjadi 74 (siklus I) dan 79 (siklus II). Selain itu, siswa menjadi lebih aktif, antusias, dan percaya diri dalam pembelajaran matematika. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa metode tusuk sate berbasis media realia plastisin efektif dalam membantu siswa memahami konsep pembagian secara konkret dan menyenangkan.

Abstract

Problems with students' attitudes and moral decadence are increasingly common, making it necessary to optimize character education from an early age. One way that can be done is to implement the Pancasila Student Profile values. This research analyzes the implementation of the internalization of Pancasila Student Profile values ​​among students at SD Al Islam Pengkol, Jepara, using a descriptive qualitative approach. The main objective is to describe various strategies for internalizing Pancasila values ​​in the context of Islamic education. Data obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation analysis, shows that the values ​​of Pancasila—including the dimensions of Faith, Global Diversity, Mutual Cooperation, Independence, Critical Reasoning, and Creativity—can be internalized well in the school. Although there are obstacles from student background and parental understanding, schools have taken innovative steps to overcome this problem, such as teacher training and strengthening communication with parents. These findings indicate that the integration of Pancasila values ​​with an Islamic perspective makes a significant contribution to the formation of student character, creating individuals who are moral, responsible and able to contribute positively to society. It is hoped that this research can become a reference for the practice of character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

The Teaching Campus Program is an implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) and aims to assign students to support teaching and learning activities at elementary schools, one of which is SD Negeri 3 Tunahan. In its implementation, students are involved and responsible for helping schools in the fields of literacy, numeracy, and technological adaptation. The focus of this research is on the role of Teaching Campus Students on technology adaptation, especially the Canva application for teachers at SD Negeri 3 Tunahan. The purpose of this research is to find out about the role of Teaching Campus Students on the adaptation of Canva technology to teachers at SD Negeri 3 Tunahan and the impact on teachers after assistance from teaching campus students. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. As for data analysis techniques, the steps include data collection, reducing data, presenting data, drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the assistance of the Canva application to teachers has a significant impact such as teachers becoming more confident and interested in developing skills in utilizing technology, for example the Canva application when carrying out performance.
