Abstract

Linear Algebra is a mathematics subject needed to be mastered well by mathematics education students. Mathematics student-teachers need to master it well as it is one of the basic of mathematics school. However, students’ achievement as the learning outcomes of understanding Linear Algebra is not maximized well due to limitations in exploring and elaborating the concepts in it. Therefore, the response/tutorial program is regarded as one of the solutions that can be used to maximize student understanding. Through the response/tutorial program, students can explore concepts and issues related more depth. Thus, this study aims to look at the effect on the response/tutorial program of students’ achievement in learning Linear Algebra of FIP UPH Mathematics Education. The findings showed that there is a significant effect on the application of response/tutorial program toward the learning outcomes of students of Mathematics Education at FIP UPH. Keywords: tutorial program, student’s achievement

Abstract

Mathematics lessons are taught to equip students to have various thinking abilities. One of the most important thinking skills in mathematics is the ability to think creatively or it is called creativity. In fact, the creativity abilities of grade VII students at a Christian school in Toraja are still lacking in terms of indicators of mathematical creativity. One of the competencies that must be possessed by a teacher to be able to encourage the development of mathematical creativity of students is pedagogical competence. Therefore, the purpose this paper is to explain the implementation of teacher pedagogical competences during online learning to develop students' mathematical creativity. The research results describe the problems of mathematical creativity found in schools and how the implementation of teacher pedagogical competence as a solution to develop students' mathematical creativity. This qualitative research used observation method to collect the data of two classes with forty students as the population and twenty students are taken as the sample. The conclusion is that pedagogical competence can help the development of students' mathematical creativity, but the development has not occurred evenly because there are obstacles during online learning. So, Christian teachers still need to make efforts so that students can develop creative abilities as a means of knowing God more deeply. Suggestions given are that Christian teachers continue to apply interactive methods on an ongoing basis, deepen their insights into problem solving materials and problems, and try other approaches that consider other mathematical abilities such as mathematical reasoning or connections.

Abstract

Most students think that the hardest subject to understand is math. It happened when the student did not get the meaning of doing math. It was made worse by the covid situation, students more and did not get any value. Even though the government had provided curriculum and lesson method options to be held in class, still it can be maximized to create meaningful math lessons. Therefore, this research focuses on the application of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) method based on a prototype curriculum to make math lessons more meaningful. The research method that will be used is descriptive qualitative. Students must get meaningful math lessons to find the greatness of God by doing math in their daily lives. Finally, students also glorify God. The research result is, PjBL based on the prototype curriculum method can help make learning mathematics more meaningful. The writer suggests for schools, hold training on using PjBL based on the curriculum prototype method, for teachers to apply this method in abstract topics, and for the next researcher to research the application of the PjBL method based on another curriculum.
