Abstract

Abstract

Background: PT. XYZ is a national energy management and distribution company that applies Good Corporate Governance principles to ensure transparent and ethical operations. Despite improved employee compensation, the increasing number of ethical violation complaints over the past three years indicates ongoing challenges in maintaining employees' ethical behavior. Objective: This study examines the effects of compensation and workload on employees' ethical behavior at PT. XYZ using Equity Theory and the Job Demands–Resources Model to explain how compensation fairness and the balance between job demands and organizational resources influence ethical behavior. Methods: This study employs a quantitative method with a causal design, collecting data through Likert scale questionnaires distributed to 124 permanent employees of PT. XYZ. The variables analyzed include compensation and workload as independent variables, and employees' ethical behavior as the dependent variable. Data analysis is conducted using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the partial and simultaneous effects among the variables studied. Results: The SEM-PLS analysis revealed that compensation has a positive and significant effect on employee ethical behavior (path coefficient = 0.655; T-statistic = 15.173; p < 0.05), while workload has a negative and significant effect (path coefficient = -0.480; T-statistic = 10.414; p < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables explain 79% of the variation in employee ethical behavior (R² = 0.790), demonstrating a strong predictive model (SRMR = 0.037). Conclusion: These findings confirm that fair compensation strengthens employee integrity, while excessive workload undermines ethical conduct. Organizations are advised to optimize compensation schemes and restructure workload distribution to cultivate a professional, ethical, and high-performance work environment.

Abstract

Background: The high turnover rate among Generation Z employees poses a major challenge for companies because it affects recruitment, training, and performance costs. In Jakarta, this phenomenon is often associated with dissatisfaction with compensation and workload pressure. Objective: This study aims to describe the conditions of compensation, workload, and turnover intention among Generation Z employees in Jakarta, as well as to analyze the impact of compensation and workload on turnover intention. Methods: This study was conducted with 150 respondents using a cross-sectional quantitative approach, a Likert-scale questionnaire, and purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to verify causal relationships. Results: Compensation and workload simultaneously had a significant positive effect on turnover intention, with R² = 0.878. Compensation was more dominant than workload, as indicated by its higher effect size (F² = 0.222) compared with workload (F² = 0.127). Workload and compensation each had a significant partial effect on turnover intention (t > 1.96; p < 0.05). The high R² value (0.878) is contextually justified, considering that both predictors are central structural determinants of turnover behavior among Generation Z employees, who are sensitive to compensation conditions and workload demands in the Jakarta labor market. The positive direction of the compensation effect (β = +0.540) reflects the reward–aspiration gap, in which higher compensation may increase market expectations and perceived professional recognition, thereby sustaining rather than suppressing exit intentions. Conclusion: Retention strategies for Generation Z employees should focus on improving fair and transparent compensation systems and ensuring proportionate workload management. The practical implications include evaluating compensation structures, task allocation, and working-time management to reduce employees’ intention to leave.

Abstract

The decline in workforce performance at Dodol Picnic Garut has become a strategic issue that has impacted productivity and work quality. Two main factors believed to contribute to this problem are an unsupportive physical work environment and low employee discipline. Therefore, this study focuses on analyzing and testing the extent to which the physical work environment and work discipline influence employee performance. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. A total of 110 respondents participated in this study through saturated sampling techniques. Data collection was conducted through interviews, participatory observation, and the distribution of structured questionnaires, which were then analyzed using SmartPLS software. The results of the study indicate that the physical work environment variable has a significant and strong influence on improving employee performance, with a p-value of 0.000 for male respondents and 0.003 for female respondents, and an effect size (f²) of 0.531, reflecting a high influence. Meanwhile, the work discipline variable showed a significant influence only on the male respondent group (p = 0.019), but not on the female group (p = 0.248).

Abstract

Employee performance is a vital determinant in attaining organizational objectives, influenced by factors such as job motivation, Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), and Transformational Leadership. This study intends to investigate the influence of three factors on the performance of Generation Z employees in Bandung City, where this cohort represents a substantial portion of the workforce. Generation Z, having been raised in the digital age, exhibits unique traits relative to earlier generations, resulting in heightened expectations regarding job flexibility and the significance of their positions. Consequently, comprehending the elements that affect their performance is essential for firms aiming to improve the efficiency and productivity of this emerging workforce. The principal objective of this study is to examine the impact of work motivation, organizational citizenship behavior, and Transformational leadership on the performance of Generation Z employees in Bandung City. The study aims to determine if these three variables significantly affect employee performance, both independently and in combination. By comprehending the interconnections among these characteristics, firms can formulate more precise management strategies to improve Gen Z employee performance. This research seeks to address the paucity of studies regarding the impact of these characteristics on the Gen Z demographic, a topic with few investigation. This study utilizes a quantitative methodology including an explanatory research design. It use multiple linear regression analysis to investigate the impact of independent variables (work motivation, organizational citizenship behavior, and Transformational leadership) on the dependent variable (employee performance). Data will be gathered via surveys administered to 170 respondents, specifically Gen Z employees in Bandung City. Statistical tools, such as SPSS, will be utilized for data analysis, and hypothesis testing will be executed both partially and concurrently. This strategy seeks to elucidate the elements affecting the performance of Gen Z employees in the workplace.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the digital economy has driven a significant increase in gig workers, including online transportation drivers who experience precarious working conditions characterized by income uncertainty and high time pressure. This research aimed to analyze the effects of income uncertainty and time pressure on work-related stress among Gojek drivers in Bandung. This study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The research sample consisted of 140 Gojek drivers in Bandung City selected using an accidental sampling technique. Primary data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire, while secondary data were obtained from company reports, official publications, and previous studies. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS. The results indicated that all measurement indicators met the required validity and reliability criteria. Income uncertainty had a positive and significant effect on work-related stress, with a path coefficient of 0.424, a t-statistic of 6.206, and a p-value of 0.000. Time pressure also had a positive and significant effect on work-related stress, with a path coefficient of 0.335, a t-statistic of 4.363, and a p-value of 0.000. Simultaneously, income uncertainty and time pressure explained 36.8% of the variance in work-related stress. These findings indicate that income instability and occupational pressure are significant factors contributing to increased work-related stress among Gojek drivers. This research implies that digital platforms need to consider incentive policies, work system improvements, and measures to protect the psychological well-being of driver-partners.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve AI literacy among young people in Bandung, Indonesia through the framework of the Twelve Strategic Competencies of Generative AI, implemented in collaboration with the Averroes Community involving senior high school and university students aged 15–22 years. Using a participatory, in-class training approach that combined interactive lectures, hands-on practice, case studies, and group discussions, program effectiveness was evaluated through pre-test and post-test instruments, satisfaction surveys, and descriptive statistical analysis using paired sample t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results showed a statistically significant improvement in participants' AI literacy after the training (p = 0.003, large effect size), with high satisfaction scores across all evaluated aspects, including material clarity, practical applicability, and facility quality. The integration of technical, ethical, and adaptive competencies enabled participants to move beyond passive AI use toward more critical and responsible engagement, though limitations in sample size and training duration suggest that future iterations would benefit from expanded participation, advanced topic coverage, and integration with soft skills and career readiness training.
