Abstract

The Mina Jaya fish farming group in Banyumas Regency faces significant challenges in freshwater fish farming, primarily due to poor water quality caused by household waste contamination. This issue leads to high fish mortality rates, especially for mujaer, catfish, and tilapia, significantly reducing harvest yields and economic returns. To address these problems, this community service program introduced Internet of Things (IoT) technology for real-time water quality monitoring. The program also included training on IoT usage and post-harvest management, specifically the production of fish floss (abon), to enhance the value of fish products. IoT implementation proved effective in reducing fish mortality, improving water conditions, and increasing operational efficiency. Furthermore, the post-harvest training enabled the group to diversify their products and increase income. These results demonstrate the potential of combining modern technology and community empowerment to overcome aquaculture challenges and improve productivity. The program recommends expanding IoT usage, continuing post-harvest product diversification, and fostering sustainable collaboration to maximize long-term benefits.

Abstract

Immunity and growth were problems in main focus in fish farming bussiness. The use of herbal ingredients in feed can be a solution. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of adding herbal supplements to feed in increasing the growth of Tilapia. The method used was a field experiment bya selecting tilapia in pond (8x3 m2). Adding natural supplements to feed begins with making herbal concoctions, then supplementing them with 50 mL/Kg feed..Fish were given feed at 3%/body weight for 1 month. The absolute growth in lenght and weight were 7.09±1.38 cm and 136.05±27.48 g. The feed conversation ratio was around 1.28, the feed efficiency was around 77.7% and the survival rate reached 100%. Herbal concoctions can increase immunity and optimal growth. .

Abstract

The probiotic innovation training programme based on market waste implemented at the Krido Yuwono Mina Padi Technopark Group aims to increase tilapia productivity and farming efficiency through the use of organic waste as raw material for probiotics. This training involves participants in the production of probiotics through the fermentation of market waste using lactic acid bacteria starters. The evaluation results show an increase in tilapia productivity of around 15-20% with better feed efficiency and a reduction in ammonia levels in pond water, which was previously a major problem in maintaining fish health. The community involved in this programme also increased their confidence in managing tilapia farming efficiently and received new knowledge that can reduce operational costs. This programme has achieved significant social and economic impacts and is expected to develop into a sustainable community empowerment model in the field of aquaculture and support more environmentally friendly waste management.

Abstract

Algae are eukaryotic organisms with chlorophyll. Green algae contain chlorophyll, allowing them to photosynthesize directly and provide shrimp ponds with food. This study is entitled Fluctuations of Green Algae and Effects on the Growth of Pacific White Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) in CV. Cemarasewu Sumber Rejeki, Cilacap. This observational study Oct–Dec 2022 monitored a pond in Cilacap. Water green algae and Pacific White Shrimp samples were taken every seven days age 64–120 days. Algae density was calculated hemocytometer, while shrimp growth parameters MBW, ADG, FCR, SR and water quality temperature, pH, DO, salinity, nutrients were measured. Data were analyzed descriptively to observe the relationship between algae fluctuations and shrimp growth. The results of the study showed that green algae experienced fluctuations during the Pacific White Shrimp cultivation period. The presence of green algae can have a good effect on the growth rate of Pacific White Shrimp. The growth rate of Pacific White Shrimp in the research pond was classified as good. The results obtained by ADG in plot B13 0.39%, B14 0.45% and B15 0.38%. MBW in plot B13 30.75 g, B14 31.68 and B15 32.05 g. FCR in plot B13 1.42, B14 1.45 and B15 1.39 and SR in plot B13 66.7%, B14 71.5% and B15 70.7%.

Abstract

Pathogenic bacteria are one of the main challenges in the cultivation of Pangasianodon hypophthalmus because they can cause organ damage and even death. The utilisation of natural ingredients such as Archidendron pauciflorum peel extract is one alternative to improve fish health in an environmentally friendly manner. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding Archidendron pauciflorum peel extract in feed on haematological parameters of Pangasianodon hypophthalmus. A total of 160 test fish were divided into four treatments with extract doses of 0% (control), 0.01%, 0.02%, and 0.03%, for 21 days. Parameters observed included total erythrocytes, haemoglobin levels, and haematocrit values. The results showed that Archidendron pauciflorum peel extract significantly increased haemoglobin levels and haematocrit values (P<0.05), especially at the 0.03% dose, compared to the control. Total erythrocytes showed a decrease on day 21 in all extract treatments, presumably due to the content of bioactive compounds (tannins, flavonoids, and saponins) in high doses. Bioactive compounds in Archidendron pauciflorum peel extract such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins are known to play a role in improving haematological parameters, but their use needs to pay attention to the appropriate dose so as not to cause negative effects.
