Abstract

The phenomenon of online learning has grown at a rapid pace over the years. Despite its benefits, online learning also comes with certain drawbacks, such as a shortage of access to reliable network connectivity, digital literacy, and socializing. The current study aims to explore the perceptions of parents regarding the challenges of distance learning faced by their children in Indonesia. Questionnaires via google forms and interviews were used to diagnose the parents’ responses to handicaps that existed during distance learning. The participants comprised 30 parents whose children joined online schooling. The findings revealed that parents experienced various kinds of obstacles in their efforts to help their children learn remotely such as (1) personal barriers (2) technical barriers (3) logistical barriers, and (4) financial barriers. The trend toward online learning is projected to continue and grow in the coming years with more dialogical, synchronic, pluralist, open, and accessible to various groups.

Abstract

The study of verbal interactions between teachers and students in English foreign language classes focuses on understanding the dynamics and communication patterns that occur during the language teaching and learning process. The current study reveals the issues about investigating types of verbal interaction realized by an English teacher and students in the classroom and also investigating its impact on students’ speaking achievement. Forty-three students of the grade VII-3 of MTS Negeri 3 Medan and one English teacher participated in this study. The data was probed through classroom observation, recording the teaching classroom interaction. The finding exposed that firstly, teacher talk was dominantly practiced English in the teaching classroom interaction rather than students’ talk. Secondly, the types of verbal interaction that occurred in the teaching classroom interaction by which realized by an English teacher were: 1. Asking Questions interaction 33%, 2. At lecturing classroom interaction 9%, 3. Giving Direction interaction 11%. The total percentages of all types of scores are about 53%. The types of verbal interaction that were applied by the students as follows; 1. The students’ talk responses 23%,2. The students’ talk initiation10% by which accumulated about 33%. They were 14 percent of students not giving any feedback (Silence). The speaking score at final test showed that 34.88% or 15 students who were able in verbal interaction between teacher and students. Consequently, this scholarly paper also provides advice on English teacher to highlight effective teaching practices and provide insight into how language learning can be enhanced through meaningful and engaging interactions. HIGHLIGHTS: Teachers most often use six different approaches: accepting feelings, praising and encouraging, using students' ideas, posing questions, lecturing, and providing instructions. The English teacher is advised to expand the intensity of students verbal interactions in learning English with the teacher and among students in the classroom. Abstract

Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi tentang sumber daya alam melalui penerapan Pendekatan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) berbantuan media PASDA (Papan Sumber Daya Alam) di kelas V SDN 060857. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dalam tiga siklus: perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Siswa kelas V SDN 060857 merupakan subyek dalam penelitian sebanyak 13 siswa, terdiri dari 8 laki-laki dan 5 perempuan, data diperoleh melalui tes, dan pengamatan. Berbagai hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa penggunaan pendekatan CRT berbantuan media PASDA membuat hasil belajar siswa akan meningkat secara bertahap. Nilai KKM pada yang ditetapkan adalah 75. Pada siklus I nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh 58,46%. Pada siklus II, nilai rata-rata meningkat menjadi 72,3%, tapi siswa belum mencapai nilai KKM. Namun, setelah dilakukan perbaikan pada siklus III, nilai rata-rata memperoleh kenaikan cukup signifikan menjadi 88,46%, sehingga banyak didapati siswa yang mencapai bahkan melebihi KKM. Aktivitas siswa untuk memahami materi sumber daya alam juga lebih aktif. Oleh sebab itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran Culturally Responsive Teaching berbantuan media PASDA efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Karena berpikir adalah aktivitas alamiah dari orang-orang yang cerdas, maka pembelajaran sebagian besar terdiri dari aktivitas berpikir. Pendidikan sangat penting untuk menjamin kemakmuran dan kelangsungan hidup suatu negara. Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan mencakup pelajaran tentang hak dan tanggung jawab; pelajaran ini sangat penting ketika mengajar di tingkat sekolah dasar. Hasil temuan penelitian di SB Kamus Gombok Utara menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pembelajaran yang saat ini digunakan masih mengandalkan teknik pembelajaran tradisional seperti ceramah, tanya jawab, dan penugasan. Dalam konteks di mana proses belajar mengajar cenderung berpusat pada instruktur dan mengakibatkan berkurangnya keterlibatan siswa, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dengan menerapkan paradigma pembelajaran example non example. Tujuan utamanya adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dan mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa. Fokus utama dari upaya ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang hak dan tanggung jawab mereka dalam mata pelajaran PKN di kelas IV SD Negeri 1 Gombok Utara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran example non example memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap pemahaman siswa tentang hak dan kewajibannya. Nilai signifikansi hitung sebesar 0,009, yang melebihi nilai kritis t tabel sebesar 1,943, menunjukkan efektivitas pendekatan pembelajaran ini dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang hak dan kewajibannya. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini mengonfirmasi bahwa pemanfaatan model pembelajaran example non example dapat memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap pemahaman siswa tentang hak dan kewajibannya dalam mata pelajaran PKN pada siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 1 Gombok Utara. Sebagai akibatnya, penelitian ini berhasil mencapai tujuannya dan memperkuat validitas model pembelajaran yang digunakan.

Abstract

This research study aims to investigate and analyse why English department students of FKIP UMSU are not standard enough in pronouncing the double “O” letters based on the standard of IPA (International Pronunciation Association). Pronunciation, according to Webster’s New World College Dictionary, 3rd Edition says, 1. The act or manner in pronouncing syllables, words, and phrases with regard to the production of sounds and the placing of stress, intonation etc, 2. a). Any of accepted or standard ways of pronouncing a word, etc, b). the transcription is symbol of such a way of pronouncing a word. Based on this information we can say that the pronunciations among languages are not always similar. The word /p-u-t/ as a verb in English means to drop something in a certain place while the word /p-u-t/ as a noun in Gayonese, means someone’s butt or ass. They both have the same pronunciation, but they carry different meanings. Let alone in English, say for example, the word /w-i-n-d/, even the spelling and the pronunciation is the same but they may have different words functions meanings. The noun /w-i-n-d/ means as air in motion, while the verb /w-i-n-d/ means to turn or make revolve. This research is focusing on the pronunciation of the “O-O” letters. In fact, not all “O-O” letters in English are pronounced similarly. The words; book, good, look, cook are pronounced similar, that is by using /u/, while the words: mood, moon, shoot, food, too, booth have different pronunciations, long /u:/ is applied. Then, the words; blood, flood is pronounced as /a/, door, floor, poor, is pronounced as /o/.The question is how standard can those English department students in semester III of FKIP UMSU pronounce those double “O-O” letters ? How many presents can they pronounce these double “O” letters correctly? And what causes them?

Abstract

Numeration is the ability to apply the concept of numbers and mathematical operations in everyday life. Such research is a qualitative descriptive method with case studies. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. Many students still do not understand arithmetic. things. This is because students are less trained in various things in the form of arithmetic. It could also be one of the causes of the low numeracy skills of Grade 4 students at the Guidance Center of Kampung Bharu Malaysia. Students need to understand multiplication learning because it is needed in everyday life. As a teacher, it is therefore important to apply what you have learned to numbering at a minimum: one day and one hour to add up the number of students. This being an important reason for teachers to innovate learning to count means being a facilitator and observer, from teacher to student. user, developer, and maker; The teacher's innovation process in the three stages of learning to count through: introductory concepts, transitions/stages and symbol stages; and the impact of teacher innovation. The multiplication box learning method to increase logical-mathematical intelligence in the sense of logical thinking, can add storage, can categorize, can add numbers, can learn to act, to become a problem solver, to understand cause and effect and to be able to do it to increase accuracy. (1) this environment includes aspects such as: interesting, fun and increases student creativity (2) The quality of quantitative media in learning Visual Figures is "very good" with an average of 3.3. (3) Student test scores using supporting media to solve open-ended questions after learning the number of degrees related to numbers increased by 128.2% and students participated more actively in the learning process.

Abstract

Kecerdasan emosional merupakan kemampuan penting yang membantu individu mengelola emosi dan membangun hubungan interpersonal yang sehat. Upaya peningkatan kecerdasan emosional melalui teknik assertive dilakukan untuk membantu siswa kelas 2 dalam mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi yang efektif dan mengurangi konflik sosial di lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan Untuk meningkatkan kecerdasan emosional melalui teknik assertive pada siswa kelas 2 SMA Tarkeeyahtul Ummah School Thailand. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian Eksperimen, dengan desain Pre Eksperimen (pretest - perlakuan- posttest). Hasil pre-test menunjukkan rata-rata subjek penelitian 85,5 memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional yang Low Average (dibawah rata-rata), dan hasil posttest menunjukkan rata-rata subjek penelitian 110 memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional yang Average ( rata-rata).Hasil analisis uji t untuk menguji perbedaan rata-rata data pretest dan posttest dk = 6, α = 0,05 di peroleh t (hitung) = 11, 9598 > t (table)= 1, 94318, disimpulkan ada perbedaan secara signifikan rata-rata skor pretes dengan Rata-rata skor postes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara tingkat kecerdasan emosional siswa sebelum dan sesudah diberikan teknik assertive training. Kesimpulan meningkatnya tingkat kecerdasan emosional siswa kelas 2 SMA Tarkeeyahtul Ummah school Thailand dari kategori Law Average menjadi kategori Average melalui kegiatan layanan teknik assertive.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using podcasting on the srudents speaking ability in Bahasa Indonesia subjects at Sanggar Bimbingan Kampung Bharu Malaysia. The research method used is quantitative pre-experimental with a pretest-posttest one group design. The sampling technique in this study used a purpose sampling technique. The instrument used was a speaking ability observation sheet. Result the research found showed of the hypothesis test obtained a sig value. (2-tailed) 0.000 <0.005 then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so it can be concluded that the use of podcasting has an effect on speaking ability in Bahasa Indonesia subjects of Sanggar Bimbingan Kampung Bharu Malaysia students. Based on the phenomenon that occurred, the use of podcasting is highly recommended to be used in Bahasa Indonesia subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the use of puzzle media can improve students' critical thinking skills in science learning. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques in the study were observation sheets and tests. The subjects in this study were 15 fourth grade students. The results of the study showed that the use of puzzle media in science learning can improve students' critical thinking skills from pre-cycle 50.66%, cycle I 60.66% and cycle II to 81.33%, which means that there is an increase from pre-cycle to cycle I by 10%, while the increase in cycle I to cycle II is 20%. Based on the phenomena that occur, the use of puzzle media in science learning in grade IV becomes more fun and interesting, and student participation increases in the learning process, students who become super active, increase student creativity and increase innovation and improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Media Pembelajaran sangat berperan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Dengan pemanfaatan media siswa akan lebih tertarik dalam belajar serta dapat mengasah pengetahuan mereka demi mencapai tujuan pembelajaran.  Pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dengan penggunaan ICT misalnya mampu nemarik minat siswa untuk lebih mendalami materi yang diajarkan. Terlebih jika guru yang bersangkutan menerapkan pembelajaran yang aktif, inovatif, kreatif, efektif dan menyenangkan (PAIKEM).  Namun sayangnya masih banyak guru yang tidak memperdulikan pemanfaatan ICT serta kegunaannya dalam proses pembelajaran. Beberapa guru yang telah diwawancarai mengaku bahwa tidak menggunakan ICT seperti software Geogebra dikarenakan tidak pandai dalam mengoperasikan software tersebut. Hal inilah yang menjadi latar belakang tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini yakni untuk membantu guru-guru matematika khususnya menggunakan software Geogebra sebagai salah satu media pembelajaran dalam matematika. Kegiatan yang dikemas dengan pelatihan langsung ini telah meningkatkan pengetahuan guru-guru matematika di Yayasan Perguruan Free Methodis Indonesia, serta guru matematika yang diundang dari sekolah lainnya. Fitur-fitur yang terdapat di dalam software Geogebra seperti lingkaran, bangun datar, bangun ruang, persamaan garis dan sebagainya sukses dipahami dan dioperasikan oleh guru-guru tersebut.Â
