Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between zakat empowerment programs and the balance of financial and socioemotional wealth (SEW) in family-owned businesses. Using survey data from 178 Muslim-owned family businesses across three countries, this study examines how strategic zakat distribution influences business decision-making and performance. Study findings reveal that businesses with formalized zakat empowerment programs demonstrate higher levels of SEW preservation while maintaining comparable financial performance to those with traditional zakat practices. Path analysis indicates that strategic zakat distribution positively mediates the relationship between family values and business sustainability. Furthermore, cluster analysis identifies three distinct approaches to balancing financial and socioemotional wealth through zakat: community-focused, business-integrated, and tradition-oriented. This study contributes to SEW theory and Islamic business ethics by offering empirical evidence on how religious financial obligations can be strategically leveraged to support both socioemotional and financial goals in family firms.

Abstract

Purpose: This study addresses the limited evidence on the simultaneous relationships among career anxiety, career self-efficacy, and work readiness by testing an integrated mediation model based on Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT).Research Methodology: A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 374 final-year undergraduate students from accredited Indonesian universities selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured online questionnaire and analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) in SmartPLS 4.0 including measurement model evaluation and bootstrapping for hypothesis testing. Results: Career anxiety did not significantly influence work readiness directly (? = 0.092, p = 0.056). However, career anxiety significantly affected career self-efficacy (? = 0.536, p < 0.001), while career self-efficacy positively influenced work readiness (? = 0.677, p < 0.001). Bootstrapping results further demonstrated that career self-efficacy fully mediated the relationship between career anxiety and work readiness. Conclusions: Career self-efficacy represents the primary psychological mechanism through which career anxiety influences students’ readiness for employment. Strengthening students’ career self-efficacy can reduce the adverse effects of career anxiety and improve their transition into the labor market.Limitations: This study is limited by its cross-sectional design, reliance on self-reported data, and focus on final-year university students in Indonesia.Contributions: This study extends Social Cognitive Career Theory by integrating career anxiety, career self-efficacy, and work readiness within a mediation framework, offering practical implications for enhancing graduate employability in higher education.

Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF WORK DISCIPLINE AND WORK MOTIVATION ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE AT HOTEL JEEP STATION INDONESIA RESORT MEGAMENDUNG BOGOR This study aims to analyze and determine the influence of Work Discipline (X₁) and Work Environment (X₂) on Employee Performance (Y) at PT. Permata Jaya Kargo, Cengkareng Office, West Jakarta. The persistent high level of employee tardiness and suboptimal work environment conditions are the reasons for this research. Employee performance is a crucial aspect in supporting company operational effectiveness, particularly in the shipping and logistics industry, which demands punctuality, productivity, and service quality. The research method used was a quantitative method with an associative approach. The population in this study was all 85 employees of PT. Permata Jaya Kargo, Cengkareng Office, West Jakarta. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with a saturated sampling method, so that all members of the population were included in the study sample. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques used included classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, coefficient of determination (R²) tests, and partial (t-test) and simultaneous (F-test) hypothesis testing. The research results, based on descriptive analysis, indicate that the variables Work Discipline, Work Environment, and Employee Performance are in the good category. The t-test results indicate that Work Discipline has a partial positive and significant effect on Employee Performance, with a calculated t-value of 6.692, greater than the t-table value of 1.989, and a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. Similarly, Work Environment has a positive and significant effect on Employee Performance, with a calculated t-value of 3.545, greater than the t-table value of 1.989, and a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. The F-test results indicate that Work Discipline and Work Environment simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on Employee Performance. The Adjusted R-square value indicates that Work Discipline and Work Environment are able to explain variations in Employee Performance, while the remainder is explained by other variables outside the research model. The conclusion of this study confirms that improving work discipline accompanied by the creation of a comfortable, safe, and conducive work environment can optimally improve employee performance, thereby supporting operational effectiveness and achieving company goals.

Abstract

Poverty remains a structural problem faced by many developing countries, including Indonesia. This condition not only limits the fulfillment of basic needs but also contributes to social inequality, low human resource quality, and potential social conflict. In the perspective of Islamic economics, zakat and waqf are strategic instruments for wealth redistribution and community economic empowerment. However, in practice, the utilization of these instruments is still largely consumptive and has not optimally created long-term economic independence. This international community service program aims to strengthen youth entrepreneurial capacity through a zakat–waqf-based economic approach. The program was implemented through online seminars, entrepreneurship training, focused group discussions, and mentoring for the development of zakat-waqf-based business models. The study applied a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method to understand the dynamics of youth empowerment within Islamic social finance. The results show that the program successfully increased participants’ understanding of Islamic economic instruments, strengthened social entrepreneurship mindsets among youth, and encouraged the development of business ideas that integrate social impact and sustainability. The program also contributed to strengthening social solidarity and promoting inclusive economic empowerment. Therefore, integrating youth entrepreneurship with productive zakat and waqf management can serve as an alternative strategy for poverty alleviation and sustainable economic development.

Abstract

The research and application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the halal industry were mapped through the adoption of the PRISMA-guided Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to derive a Shariah-compliant research agenda for Halal Industry 4.0. This was achieved by searching Scopus (TITLE–ABS–KEY) for relevant publications from 2000 to March 2025. The records obtained were screened using predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria followed by the analysis of the selected articles through descriptive bibliometrics, inductive thematic coding, and keyword co-occurrence mapping (VOSviewer). The screening showed that 23 out of the 95 records initially identified met the eligibility criteria and were published from 2017 to March 2025 as a reflection of the recency and rapid growth of the AI–halal research field. The analysis also showed that AI such as computer vision/OCR, spectroscopy-data analytics, and AI–blockchain/Internet of Things (IoT) architectures was most frequently used for halal authentication and traceability, efficiency and decision support in certification and supply chains, data-driven applications in halal tourism, fintech, and consumer analytics. However, the evidence remains fragmented due to limited real-world validation, inconsistent reporting of data provenance and model transparency, as well as an underdeveloped conceptual bridge between AI governance and Shariah/maqasid al-sharı‘ah requirements. Future research should prioritise explainable and auditable AI for halal assurance, interoperable standards for cross-border digital certification, and practical small and medium scale enterprise (SME) adoption pathways through shared infrastructure and regulatory sandboxes.
