Abstract

Suspicion of Salafi as  terrorist and extremist organization increased after 9/11. Many studies have found that the Salafi ideology contains an exclusive and harsh doctrine of Wahhabism. This article examines the Salafi madrasas which was initially exclusive, rigid, conservative, and anti-state symbols, then transformed into a formal Islamic school that is modern and professional in management, as well as integrating the national education curriculum with Islamic curriculum (diniyyah/boarding school) as a strategy to gain state recognition. Although it is not carried out in all Islamic educational institutions it manages, the transformation of the Salafi madrasas is intended to remove the suspicions of the people who consider them terrorist and extremist group. Therefore, this article also explains the Salafi typology which is divided into two based on the movement model, namely the Ideological Salafi (Purification) and the Jihadist Salafi. Through the multicultural education approach that was written by Bikhu Parekh, this research suggests the implications of the ideas of salafism that are disseminated to the multicultural Indonesian society. This research finds that the Salafi campaign in Indonesia has not completely failed. Salafi madrasas have succeeded in transforming through curriculum integration which aims to reject public suspicion that they are terrorist organizations, in fact this strategy actually attracts upper-middle class people to send their children to Salafi madrasas.

Abstract

Kemampuan generasi Muslim membaca Al-Qur’an sangat penting di dalam memahami ajaran Islam. Al-Qur’an adalah pedoman dan petunjuk bagi seorang Muslim tidak cukup untuk dibaca, tetapi juga sangat penting untuk dipahami secara mendalam dan dipraktikkan ajarannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Dengan tujuan agar kemampuan membaca dan memahami ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an semakin baik, maka pembacaan terhadap Kitab Suci tersebut harus dipelajari secara terus menerus dengan berbagai bentuk kegiatan seperti kegiatan belajar Tahsin Al-Qur’an. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk mendampingi anak asuh Panti Asuhan putri ‘Aisyiah kecamatan Dau dalam pembelajaran Al-Qur’an dengan tahsin. Hasil dari kegiatan ini sudah berjalan dengan baik, sebagaimana yang sudah direncanakan pengabdi sebelumnya. Walaupun ada sedikit kendala karena Covid-19 dan pemerintah menerapkan Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat (PPKM) darurat pada Juli 2021, Namun kegiatan tahsin di Panti Asuhan ‘Aisyiyah Putri mendapat respons yang sangat baik dari para santri di panti asuhan tersebut karena hampir setiap kegiatan mereka selalu hadir dan menhikuti kegiatan dengan antusias. Materi makhorijul huruf dan tajwid yang pengabdi ajarkan mencapai 85% sudah dikuasai oleh anak-anak Panti Asuhan Putri ‘Aisyiah.

Abstract

Religious teachings are closely related to the ecological dimension which, after being reinterpreted, eventually led to the term ecotheology. Through previous studies, it was found that one of the religions that contain these values ​​is Islam and Christianity. This study aims to answer the formulation of the problem in the form of how the concept of ecotheology exists in Islam and Christianity and how to compare the concept of ecotheology in the two religions in the study of Soren Kierkegaard's existentialist philosophy. This research is a literature study with a comparative approach. The findings of this study conclude that in both religions there is a strong emphasis on the role of humans as guardians of the environment, the concept of environmental justice, the position of God as giver of responsibility, the existence of collectivity, and spiritual values. in the ecological role of humans. In Islam itself, through the Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah organizations, the collectivity is very visible. The main difference between the two lies in the doctrinal footing and organization of the movement.

Abstract

This study aims to explore information related to the teaching pattern of religious tolerance, especially at the traditional Raju ceremony of the Mbawa Village community, Donggo District, Bima Regency. Mbawa residents are a diverse entity, both from religious and ethnic backgrounds.  There are three different religions believed by the local community, namely Islam (78%),  Catholicism (20%),  and Protestantism (2%); and there are three ethnicities they profess namely Donggo, Flores, and Ambon. This article uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive analytical approach that aims to explain field data systematically and accurately, especially regarding the pattern of teaching religious tolerance values at the Raju traditional ceremony of the Mbawa community. This article uses Yusuf Al-Qaradawi's thesis in his thought which emphasizes the importance of teaching the values of religious tolerance for a pluralistic society. According to him, the teaching of the value of religious tolerance needs to be given to the community intensively, without discrimination towards certain religions or ethnicities. This study also wants to explain the traditions and cultural heritage of the Mbawa people through Emile Durkheim's thoughts on the role of socio-culture in bonding the relationship between religious communities. Durkheim said that to unite a plural community there needs to be a social role in the unity of rituals and common beliefs held by all citizens.  This study concluded that the awareness of the Mbawa community to disseminate the values of tolerance in Raju traditional ceremonies through teaching patterns within families, educational institutions, and village and tribal government structures, succeeded in knitting positive relations between religious communities. Through the ceremony, residents also have a common awareness to coexist peacefully and nonviolently.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki berbagai perbedaan baik dari suku, ras, dan agama. Pada satu sisi keberagamaan tersebut bisa mendatangkan keberkahan, Tetapi pada sisi yang lain dapat memunculkan bencana jika terjadi persinggungan antar golongan yang berbeda.  Pendidikan multikultural dapat menjadi cara pandang untuk melihat realitas majemuk yang merupakan respons terhadap perkembangan keragaman populasi tersebut melalui sekolah. Sekolah melalui Pendidikan Agama Islam dapat menjadi tempat penanaman nilai – nilai toleransi. SMP Taman Harapan Malang memiliki berbagaiiimacam pesertaiididik dari beragamiiagama, latar belakang seperti agama Islam, Kristen, dan Budha. Dari adanya beragam agama, Sekolah tersebut mengadakan progam “Rabu Ibadah” sebagai upaya dalam pembentukan sikap toleransi beragama peserta didik. Program “Rabu Ibadah” bertujuan untuk membentuk sikap toleransi para peserta didik agar menghormati perbedaan keyakinan yang diperoleh peserta didik yang lain. Metodeiipenelitian yang digunakaniidalam penelitian ini adalah pendekataniikualitatifiidengan penyajianidata, observasi, iwawancara dan kajian pustaka. Penelitianiiiniiisecara khusus ingin mengkaji srategi SMP Taman Harapan Malang dalam mengupayahkan pemebentukan sikap toleransi beragama peserta didiknya. Riset ini menyimpulkan bahwa pembentukan sikap toleransi beragama di SMP Taman Harapan Malang diwujudkan dalam dua hal yaitu: sekolah memfasilitasi beberapa guru agama (Islam, Kristen, dan Budha), serta sekolah menyediakan program Rabu Ibadah , di mana  setiap rabu pagi para siswa diwajibkan ritual keagamaannya masing-masing di sekolah.

Abstract

Abstract: Pesantren as a traditional Islamic educational institution still has a vital role in preserving the literacy tradition, especially in writing Pegon Arabic. Arab Pegon is the result of the acculturation of Arab intangible culture with Javanese culture through a writing system. Following the customs of the Muslim community in Java, where Arab culture is present, Pegon Arabic writing is written in various languages such as Javanese, Sundanese, Madura, and other regional languages in Indonesia. This reality gave birth to a literacy tradition that continues to grow. However, not many pesantren use Pegon Arabic script writing in Indonesian. The tradition of Pegon Arabic literacy in Islamic boarding schools in Java generally uses the local language, but the practice of writing Pegon Arabic script in the Singosari Islamic Boarding School uses Indonesian. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of Pesantren Ilmu Al-Qur’an Singosari in the preservation of the tradition of Arabic Pegon writing in Indonesian. This study uses qualitative research methods which include the collection of documentation, interviews, and observations. The findings of the study show that the Pesantren Ilmu Al-Qur’an Singosari is accustomed to the practice of Pegon Arabic writing in almost all religious literacy activities. This habit has been proven to be able to increase students’ interest and understanding of Pegon Arabic writing. This article concludes that pesantren play a strategic role in preserving the heritage of the Pegon Arabic writing tradition. In addition, it is important to teach Pegon Arabic writing literacy in Indonesian to students to attract their interest in studying Islamic books by classical scholars. Abstract

This research explains about the rise of Muhammadiyah’s Islamic da’wah in the contemporary era. In particular, this study aims to describe the transformation of Muhammadiyah’s Islamic da’wah through social media and its response to Islamic moderation in Indonesia. The transformation of online da’wah was absolute, because it was based on the spread of ideology and narration of religious extremism that had been spreading on social media in the last two decades. This research used qualitative approach by strengthening the argumentation building on the research topic through descriptive analysis based on extracting data in the field. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews and documentation from various Muhammadiyah online da’wah sites. This research found a new and very important thesis issue, Muhammadiyah experienced a positive trend in strengthening Islamic da’wah strategies on social media. The rise was marked by an increase in the number of new online da’wah portals affiliated with Muhammadiyah. The various da’wah sites seemed innovative and creative in content and professional from the management side, as well as voicing the narrative of Islamic moderation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Surau Godang in the process of forming community religious literacy which is integrated with the local wisdom values of the residents of Jorong, Kociak City, West Sumatra. Various religious literacy taught to children, youth, and parents is carried out in various forms, such as memorization of the Qur'an, regular religious submissions, silek (silat), youth seminars, and others. This article also analyzes the effectiveness of Islamic science learning methods in shaping the morals of the community and what challenges and opportunities are faced by the Surau Godang in forming the morals of Minangkabau youth. This research was conducted using a case study approach in Jorong Koto Kocyak, West Sumatra. Meanwhile, the data collection technique uses interview, observation, and documentation methods. The results of the study concluded several religious literacy activities that support the moral formation of Muslims, including routine recitation attended by elderly groups, as well as Qur'an memorization activities, pencak silat (silek), and religious group discussions for children and youth.

Abstract

This study focuses on the leadership aspect of Muhammadiyah by emphasizing the thoughts and contributions of Haidar Nashir as the Central Board of Muhammadiyah. Therefore, this study relies on written sources, especially those written by Haidar Nashir. Religious moderation is a prominent theme in Indonesia at the end of the second decade of the 2000s. Not only is it the idea of ​​a thinker or intellectual, but it has even become one of the strategic development policies in Indonesia as stated in the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJM) prepared by the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning/ National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas), based on Presidential Regulation No. 18 of 2020. The Ministry of Religion, as the technical ministry in charge of religious life, has published several documents related to religious moderation. As one of the moderate Islamic religious organizations and movements, Muhammadiyah is an interesting subject of study to examine its links and continuity with the idea of ​​religious moderation. Rather than as a normative study in the field of law that uses legislation as primary material, this study seeks to reveal the substantive aspects of the religious moderation policy linked to Muhammadiyah's efforts to strengthen and institutionalize religious moderation in Muhammadiyah. The results of this study will later show that the appearance of Muhammadiyah as a moderate Islamic ideology, organization, and movement cannot be separated from the figure of the Muhammadiyah leader, who has a strong, moderate character.

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are the ability to find new ways, strategies, and ideas in solving problems. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is an influence of the discovery learning model using TikTok media on students' creative thinking skills in Islamic cultural history material. The method in this research is the class action method (CAR). The subjects in this study were students of class XI SMAMSA. strengthening students' creative thinking skills in the PAI learning process has increased. This can be seen from the percentage of the pre-cycle stage, which was 46%, which increased to 50% in cycle 1, then in cycle 2 creative thinking skills increased by 15%, namely 65%. By looking at the percentages of the pre-cycle, cycle 1, and cycle 2 stages, it can be said that strengthening the creative thinking skills of Class XI IPA SMAMSA Malang students in PAI learning through discovery learning can be said to be successful.
