Abstract

This study investigates the effect of board diversity, specifically gender, age, and nationality, on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) scores in non-financial publicly listed companies in Indonesia from 2019 to 2023. Using Resource Dependence Theory, the study also examines whether profitability and cash flow moderate these relationships. A fixed effects panel regression was applied to 28 firms, resulting in 140 firm-year observations. The results show that gender diversity significantly improves ESG performance, while age diversity has an adverse effect. Nationality diversity alone has no significant impact. Nationality diversity does not substantially influence ESG performance on its own. However, Cash flow and profitability strengthen the effect of ND on ESG. Meanwhile, financial performance indicators alone do not significantly enhance ESG outcomes. These findings suggest that financial capacity allows firms to leverage diverse boards for sustainability goals better. The study offers practical insights for managers and regulators to align board composition with ESG strategies and encourages further research on other forms of board diversity.

Abstract

Abstract- The number of Generation Z individuals who invest in high-risk financial instruments is increasing. This trend is interesting because high-risk investments commonly tend to attract older and more experienced investor. This study aims to analyze the impact of financial literacy and financial interest on investment decisions of Generation Z in high-risk assets, with risk tolerance as a moderating factor. Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is used to formulate the hypotheses. This study used quantitative method and the data is collected by distributing the questionnaires to the respondents. The sample of this study is 401 Generation Z individuals in Surabaya who are over 17 years old and thus legally able to invest according to Indonesian regulations. We conduct logistic regression analysis to test the hypotheses. The findings reveal that financial literacy does not affect investment decisions in high-risk assets, whereas financial interest has a positive effect. Furthermore, risk tolerance does not moderate the relationship between financial literacy and investment decisions. However, a high level of risk tolerance strengthens the positive effect of financial interest on investment decisions in high-risk assets. This research contributes new insight for investment companies and government to boost financial interest through engaging activities like gamified financial tools and interactive workshops. Abstract

Remote work has existed for quite some time, but has gained popularity with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as all activities had to be conducted from home. The research gap lies in the scarcity of empirical evidence on how organizational culture and work fatigue mediate the relationship between Work From Home (WFH) and work-life balance (WLB), especially in the Indonesian context. This study examined whether organizational culture and work fatigue mediate the impact of WFH on WLB among Indonesian workers. The research aimed to understand how work-life balance is affected by organizational culture and work fatigue among Indonesian remote workers. Using purposive sampling, the research gathered data from 112 respondents and analyzed them with Smart PLS. The findings indicate that the direct relationship between WFH and WLB, as well as work fatigue is not significant. Similarly, the mediating effect of organizational culture and work fatigue on the relationship between work-from-home and work-life balance were not significant. Furthermore, the link between organizational culture and work-life balance is not significant. A significant relationship is observed only between work fatigue and WLB, and between WFH and organizational culture. This research is crucial because while remote work offers flexibility, it also poses challenges such as fatigue and blurred boundaries that may jeopardize employees' well-being. Understanding these dynamics helps organizations in developing supportive cultures and strategies to enhance employee WLB in the post-pandemic digital-first era.

Abstract

SMEs are the backbone of Indonesia’s economy, yet they continue to face structural and sustainability challenges. As such, the purpose of this study is to examine how responsive and proactive market orientations impact SMEs’ environmental and financial performance through the mediation of product and process innovation capabilities, and the moderation of market turbulence, grounded in Dynamic Capabilities Theory. This quantitative research used purposive sampling to collect data from 115 SME owners and managers across various industries in Java Island. The data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling to test the hypotheses. The results showed that a proactive market orientation has a significant impact on financial performance through process innovation capabilities and environmental performance. Contrarily, market turbulence did not moderate the relationship between innovation capabilities and financial performance. This research highlights the importance of proactive market orientation and process innovation capabilities to improve SME sustainability and performance. Based on this study’s findings, SMEs should invest in strengthening their proactive market orientation and process innovation capabilities to achieve sustainability and gain a lasting competitive advantage in the industry.
