Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work flexibility, financial compensation, and employee empowerment on job satisfaction at PT Propan Raya ICC Palembang. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon occurring within the company, where employees are beginning to demand more than just competitive salaries they also seek flexible working arrangements, fair compensation, and opportunities to be empowered in their roles. Based on interviews with several employees, it was found that rigid working systems, perceived unfair compensation, and limited autonomy negatively impact job satisfaction. This research adopts a quantitative approach using a survey method, with questionnaires distributed to 85 respondents, representing the total population used as the study sample. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that both partially and simultaneously, the three independent variables work flexibility, financial compensation, and employee empowerment have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. These findings support Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, which states that job satisfaction is achieved when employees’ needs from basic to self-actualization are fulfilled. This research is expected to serve as a reference for PT Propan Raya ICC Palembang in formulating more adaptive, fair, and empowering work policies to enhance employee satisfaction and loyalty. Keywords: Work Flexibility, Financial Compensation, Employee Empowerment, Job Satisfaction.

Abstract

Stroke is still a major health problem in the world. Ischemic stroke accounts for 87% of all acute stroke occurrences. In 2013, the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Stroke Association (ASA), published a Guideline for the Early Management of Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke. The managements consist of the use of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA), endovascular treatment, etc. Unlike acute ischemic stroke, until now, no guidelines have been provided about the management of chronic ischemic stroke that approved universally. The result of the study with the title of "Intra Arterial Heparin Flushing Increases Manual Muscle Test – Medical Research Councils (MMT-MRC) Score in Chronic Ischemic Stroke Patient” is very interesting, because it is a new attempt to treat patients with chronic ischemic stroke. The purpose of this article is to review the study mentioned above, in accordance with the applied scientific principles and is based on the standard literatures and guidelines. Our review is limited only to the discussion of the study results. From this discussion can be proved the existing references that support and/or refuse the study results. Based on the discussions and conclusions of this study, there were no references to support that IAHF can improve motor functions (muscles) in patients with chronic ischemic stroke.

Abstract

Introduction: Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) is a neurological syndrome with an acute or subacute onset characterized by reversible cerebrovascular dysregulation. Hypertension is the primary risk factor for PRES, however other conditions such as hyperaldosteronism accompany and precipitate PRES. Case Report: This case illustrates a 32-year-old man without prior medical history with loss of consciousness and seizures 1 day prior to admission with blurry vision and vomiting 2 weeks prior that progressed gradually. Brain MRI revealed vasogenic edema of bilateral occipital lobes. The patient was assessed for hypertensive retinopathy and suspected primary hyperaldosteronism. Management with anti-hypertensives, anti-epileptic medications, electrolyte correction and supportive therapy was given, and the patient improved gradually and was discharged 10 days later without any complications. Discussion: No diagnostic criteria is available for PRES, however brain MRI is the crucial to establish a diagnosis of PRES. The resolution of symptoms with blood pressure regulation is another validation of the diagnosis of PRES. Ruling out differentials is prudent to ensure appropriate therapy. Management of PRES encompasses blood pressure regulation, anti-epileptic medications, treating other causes such as drug exposure and metabolic disorders. Previous reports PRES due to secondary hypertension attributed to primary hyperaldosteronism have been reported, although evidence about this causality is limited, nonetheless must be explored and treated as a cause of the hypertension triggering PRES. Conclusion : PRES is a neurological syndrome that is reversible, with hypertension as the primary risk factor that could be secondary due to disorders like primary hyperaldosteronism, that could ultimately trigger PRES.
