Abstract

This study examines the pedagogical role of Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) in traditional music learning among students of the Music, Dance, and Drama Education Study Program at the University of Palangka Raya. The research aims to analyze the functions of digital media, the role of DAW in the learning process, student interactions, creative exploration, and the integration of traditional music into digital environments. A qualitative case study approach was employed involving 21 students enrolled in the Central Kalimantan Traditional Music course. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation of student arrangement projects, FL Studio project files, audio recordings, and field notes. Data were analyzed using an interactive model and thematic analysis. The findings reveal that FL Studio functioned as a medium for musical exploration, production, and evaluation by enabling students to repeatedly revise and refine their musical arrangements. The learning process was characterized by active collaboration, peer assistance, lecturer guidance, and reflective practice, indicating the presence of scaffolding and collaborative knowledge construction. Students demonstrated creative exploration through experimentation with rhythm, melody, layering, and instrumentation while adapting traditional musical elements into digital formats. The integration of traditional instruments such as Panting Dayak, Rebana, and Gong Dayak into digital arrangements further demonstrated the potential of DAW-based learning to support cultural preservation and revitalization. The study concludes that DAW functions not only as a music production tool but also as a pedagogical environment that facilitates creativity, learner autonomy, collaborative learning, and cultural sustainability in higher education traditional music learning contexts.

Abstract

This study examines how perspective and nirmana principles are integrated in imaginative drawings produced by Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students in visual arts learning. Previous discussions of students’ drawings in art education have often treated perspective as a technical matter and nirmana as a list of visual elements. This study addresses that limitation by positioning both concepts as an integrated visual literacy framework for reading spatial construction, compositional order, and pedagogical readiness among prospective elementary school teachers. A descriptive qualitative design was employed using visual artwork analysis, classroom observation, documentation, and literature study. Ten student artworks were selected through criterion-based purposive sampling because they represented diverse themes, visual complexity, and varied applications of perspective and nirmana. The analysis sheet was developed from perspective indicators, nirmana principles, and stages of art criticism, then strengthened through expert judgment and inter-rater discussion. The findings reveal three patterns of visual construction: narrative-spatial, decorative-dense, and thematic-symbolic. Students demonstrated strength in visual imagination, local themes, color exploration, rhythm, and thematic unity; however, they still showed weaknesses in horizon awareness, vanishing point consistency, scale relations, proportional accuracy, focal point, and visual hierarchy. The study proposes a Perspective-Nirmana Integration model as a conceptual contribution for analyzing imaginative drawings in visual arts learning. Pedagogically, the findings imply that PGSD visual arts instruction should connect imaginative exploration with systematic exercises in spatial representation, composition, visual hierarchy, and reflective critique.

Abstract

This community service program focuses on the issues of low competency among teachers at SDN 7 Pahandut in utilizing digital technology for dance education, as well as the limited availability of interactive learning materials. This initiative aims to integrate digital media into the teaching of Central Kalimantan Dayak creative dance through training, mentoring, and classroom implementation. The solutions provided include outreach on the use of digital media, training in the creation of learning materials such as dance movement tutorial videos, learning modules, and accompanying music, as well as their application in the learning process. The implementation method uses a participatory approach through the stages of needs identification, design, media development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in teachers’ digital competencies, as indicated by a rise in pre-test to post-test scores of approximately 31 points (from 52.6 to 83.6). Additionally, the project produced outputs such as digital-based dance learning modules, video tutorials of various dance movements, and videos of Dayak creative dance that can be used sustainably. This program also increased student engagement in learning. Thus, this activity effectively improved the quality of technology-based arts education and has the potential to be replicated in other elementary schools.
