Abstract

Abstract

Abstract. A nation is judged by its culture. Culture itself can take the form of ideologies, ideas, or even a tea drink listed in this article. Tea as a beverage invented by China remains a tradition that continues to be passed on to his children and grandchildren in Indonesia or ethnic Chinese. The culture that has been hundreds of years still exists among the Glodok Chinese ethnicity of West Java. One of them is the tradition of Teh Pai at wedding processions in honor of elders, which is still carried on today. Although respondents' understanding of the tea drinking tradition is not comprehensive, such as only knowing the Tea Pai tradition and not using its original name. However, respondents' meaning of the philosophy in the tradition is still optimally understood, and still has the spirit to be passed on to posterity. The findings were generated from documentary study methods, field observations, and interviews with 6 respondents, and were presented in an in-depth interpretation. Keywords: tea traditions; ethnic Chinese; Glodok Abstrak. Abstract

Indonesian language has very different characters from Mandarin, such as writing, Indonesian uses the alphabet, and Mandarin uses a character called hànzì. This can make it very difficult for students to learn Mandarin. This difficulty will have an impact on decreasing learning motivation which leads to a decrease in the value of mastering Mandarin of a learner. So in order to shrink the gap between Indonesian language and Mandarin, a cultural approach is used by borrowing one of the uniqueness of Mandarin, namely hànzì. Hànzì which if analyzed its components actually has a deep philosophical meaning. The analysis will reveal how the entire Chinese society in the past, which will more or less be the same as the culture in Indonesia because it is still in one outline of eastern culture. With these cultural similarities, it will be able to touch the hearts of learners, and provide an additional motivational boost in learning Mandarin. In addition, after this understanding is found, memorizing a hànzì will also be easier because the learner can imagine a real-life meaning in the world. More than just a stroke that meets each other which is finally agreed to become a letter called hànzì. After presenting the deep meaning of a hànzì, there was a positive response from the live question and answer dialogue. The increasing enthusiasm of students is also expected to be an effort to optimize Mandarin mastery at SMK 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya.

Abstract

Teaching Mandarin in an area where the cultural context can be described as isolated is a challenge in itself. Instead of teaching how to speak directly, prioritize the heart-to-heart approach. Whoever knows how to touch them personally, automatically comes into contact with people who have the same culture. The purpose of this study is to explain that Mandarin education in peripheral areas is better prioritized by cultural approaches. with the basis of research to have more impact on love for Mandarin first, in order to have more motivation to learn and high confidence when learning Mandarin. The findings when the treatment of Mandarin teaching was carried out which emphasized the cultural approach and broke the cliché order of mainstream Mandarin teaching, resulted in children in the periphery being more receptive because of the excitement in the class they got. So, the conclusion is that to be a Mandarin teacher in the countryside, teacher must be a person with the same tribal background to understand the customs. Look for ideas and then work to create creative media. Finally, it provides language ability, not language theory.

Abstract

Translated literature should basically be created from the maximum effort to be able to translate equivalently from the source language to the target language. However, it cannot be denied that the different characteristics between languages can still be made compatible. Hence the emergence of an understanding or study of translational shifts. As happened in the Indonesian translation song from Mandarin with the theme song about loving nature. As a result, 14 data were collected that proved to have a translational shift towards cultization from 12 song lyrics studied. The method used to analyze is descriptive qualitative combined with cognitive linguistic approach. The method of analysis is expected to provide an in-depth interpretation so as to present a comprehensive research. One of the evidences of the translational shift towards idolatry is the translation of the word “慈母” which means “mother's love” or “mother” into “Illahi” which is also a synonym of “God”, which is then elaborated with approaching possibilities. In the end, the purpose of this research is to prove that there has been a translational shift in the song lyrics, but also to provide an understanding that translated literature still has its own beauty, and also this research is expected to contribute to the study of translational shifts, especially in Mandarin literature.
