Abstract

The research was carried out to know the role played by teacher assistants in inclusive schools. The research method used for this study is a systematic review by capturing articles related to the research topic published between 2009-2019 through the electronic search engine Taylor and Francis Online. The initial search found 24 articles and then selected based on exclusive criteria, in which there were ten articles identified using thematic data analysis techniques. The results found that role of a teacher assistant is role pedagogic and non-pedagogic. Pedagogic roles include learning, giving assignments, helping students complete assignments, performing assignments, making IEP (individualized educational program), assessing and managing student behavior while non-pedagogic roles include emotional support, consulting, facilitating teachers, students, and parents. The results also show the importance of teacher assistants having competencies according to their educational background and building collaborative learning between classroom teachers and teacher assistants in the classroom. Limitations and recommendations for future research are discussed in this paper.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the facilitators and barriers that influence teaching to foster students' creativity in higher education and how the implementation made by the university encourages creativity in students. This study used the systematic literature review method with PRISMA procedure based on the following criteria: The literature was published in Taylor and Francis and ProQuest from 1997 to 2022 and written in English. Literature extraction and synthesis were carried out from 19 articles and then analyzed using content analysis. Results showed more factors, namely teacher beliefs, positive attitudes of teachers toward creativity, collaboration in learning, group discussions, providing training, lecturers teaching method to instill a growth mindset, providing assessments according to actual situations, and the use of technology that encourages lecturers to foster creativity rather than the barriers. In addition, the implementation made by universities for fostering creativity includes training programs and using various technology-based creative applications adapted to the characteristics of the major disciplines.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing peer attitudes towards students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), seen from the role of moral identity, empathy, age, and gender. This study uses a quantitative approach with a non-experimental method of cross-sectional design. The respondents were 288 Indonesian students aged 18-25(M = 19.67 years, SD = 1.23), with 62.9% female and 37.1% male. The instrument used was a questionnaire distributed via social media, and the data was analyzed by correlation analysis, ANOVA, and SEM. The results showed that age did not correlate with attitudes towards college students with SEND. There is no difference between male and female students. Moral identity was negatively associated with negative attitudes towards college students with SEND, both in total, affective, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions. The dimensions of fantasy, perspective-taking, and empathic concern can mediate the relationship between the two. The results of the study provide implications for increasing positive peer attitudes towards college students with SEND by encouraging the development of moral identity and empathy.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the types of special needs that benefit from Data-Based Decision Making (DBDM), the stages of its implementation, and the challenges teachers face in executing DBDM effectively. This research used a qualitative approach, with a systematic literature review method using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis), systematically analyzing relevant articles from the Sage Journal and Wiley Online database scopus indexed published between 2013-2023. A total of 54 articles were initially identified, and through a thorough screening process, 5 articles were included for in-depth review. The data analysis technique for this research used a content analysis approach. The implementation of Data-Based Decision Making (DBDM) supports special needs students facing academic (e.g., reading and writing difficulties) as well as emotional or behavioral challenges. While Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM) and Mastery Measures with clear decision rules are often used for academic difficulties, DBDM for behavioral issues is more complex due to the diversity of behaviors and required tools. Teachers are encouraged to apply DBDM, provided they develop skills in assessment selection, data processing, and analysis to adjust interventions effectively. Successful DBDM requires strong support from various school stakeholders. The review highlights the need for specialized training for teachers to enhance their competence in applying DBDM for diverse special needs students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of parental involvement on career decision-making in collectivist cultures. This study employed a systematic literature review method adapted from PRISMA framework guidelines. Qualitative data collection techniques were employed, followed by thematic analysis for data interpretation. The article was searched using six online databases: Scopus, Sage Journals, SpringerLink, ProQuest, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect. A total of 14 articles were obtained, focusing on high school and undergraduate students in Asian countries such as China, Indonesia, and South Korea. The data analysis technique for this research used a thematic analysis approach. As a result, parental involvement, through emotional support, guidance, and direct participation, significantly enhances career decision self-efficacy but may also limit autonomy due to cultural expectations. Furthermore, these results also show that students’ gender and parenting style were found to significantly influence career decision-making. The findings emphasize understanding cultural dynamics to guide educators, counselors, and policymakers in supporting students' career development. Further research is recommended to explore qualitative and mixed-method approaches to better capture the subjective and contextual experiences of students and parents in collectivist cultures. Additionally, examining comparisons between collectivist and individualist cultures could provide valuable insights into how different cultural frameworks influence career decision-making processes.
