Abstract

The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Society 5.0 are driving the transformation of science education towards the development of 21st-century competencies, including socioscientific skills. However, the abstraction of concepts and limitations in representing complex phenomena pose challenges in chemistry learning. Immersive technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) offer solutions through the creation of interactive and personalized learning environments. This study aims to: (1) implement AR and AI-based Smart Digital Laboratory (Smart-DIL) media on environmental pollution material; (2) analyse its impact on student engagement and enthusiasm for learning; and (3) explore the development of environmental awareness and socioscientific skills through an eco-enzyme project. This qualitative research with an instrumental case study design involved 22 students from class XI IPA SMA Kristen Sonder who were selected purposively. Data collection was carried out through participant observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. The data was analysed interactively following the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The implementation of Smart-DIL created a dynamic and immersive learning environment. A significant increase in engagement and enthusiasm for learning was observed, as demonstrated by intensive interaction with AR objects and critical discussions. This application also acts as a catalyst in fostering environmental awareness and socio-scientific skills, which are manifested in the full engagement of students during the practice of making eco-enzymes. The AR and AI-based Smart Digital Laboratory is effective in transforming chemistry learning into contextual and competency-based learning. The integration of this technology in the Merdeka Curriculum not only increases learning engagement but also fosters students' socio-scientific skills and digital literacy.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Lopana dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas panen kelapa dan minimnya kesadaran keselamatan kerja pada Kelompok Tani TUIS di Desa Lopana, Sulawesi Utara. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif berbasis community development dengan desain single-group pre–post test, meliputi tahap sosialisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Sebanyak 20 peserta mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan dengan fokus pada penggunaan teknologi tepat guna panjat kelapa, penerapan SOP keselamatan kerja, serta strategi digital marketing melalui media sosial dan Google Bisnisku. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan rata-rata pengetahuan peserta sebesar 50% yang tergolong sedang, sedangkan post-test meningkat menjadi 67%, atau naik 34% relatif terhadap nilai awal. Peningkatan terbesar terjadi pada aspek digital marketing (dari 35% menjadi 57%), diikuti teknologi panjat kelapa (56% menjadi 71%), dan SOP keselamatan kerja (57% menjadi 70%). Selain peningkatan pengetahuan, observasi lapangan memperlihatkan bahwa alat panjat kelapa mampu mengurangi waktu panen sekaligus meningkatkan keselamatan kerja, bahkan bagi petani berusia lanjut. Peserta juga mulai mempraktikkan pemasaran digital, meskipun adopsinya masih lebih kuat pada generasi muda. Kesimpulan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan berbasis praktik terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan teknis, kesadaran kerja aman, dan literasi digital petani kelapa. Rekomendasi diarahkan pada perlunya pendampingan berkelanjutan, penyediaan sarana tambahan, serta strategi adopsi teknologi yang adaptif terhadap perbedaan usia dan latar pendidikan, sehingga program ini dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain.

Abstract

Wanita memiliki risiko terkena kanker payudara dan kanker serviks. Kader kesehatan memiliki peranan penting dalam mengedukasi setiap wanita disekitarnya untuk mampu melakukan skrining faktor risiko dan deteksi dini kanker secara mandiri dengan menggunakan media aplikasi android. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada 27 Juli 2024 di Puskesmas Tateli, Sulawesi Utara. Peserta adalah kader kesehatan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tateli yang berjumlah 44 orang. Tahap pelaksanaan kegiatan ini meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, pendampingan dan evaluasi, dan keberlanjutan program. Media utama yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah aplikasi Android VWOMCARE. Aplikasi tersebut dilengkapi dengan berbagai fitur, termasuk materi edukasi yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh kader kesehatan, alat untuk melakukan skrining faktor risiko dan deteksi dini kanker pada wanita, serta panduan tindak lanjut yang perlu dilakukan apabila ditemukan tanda dan gejala yang mengarah pada penyakit kanker.Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan dengan memberikan kuesioner untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan peserta sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan peserta sangat senang dan antusias mengikuti pelatihan ini. Tingkat pengetahuan peserta tentang kanker payudara sebelum pelatihan mayoritas pada kategori cukup 79,54% dan setelah pelatihan mayoritas pada kategori baik 79,54%. Tingkat pengetahuan peserta tentang kanker serviks sebelum pelatihan mayoritas pada kategori cukup 77,27% dan setelah pelatihan mayoritas pada kategori baik 86,37%. Pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Android terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas kader kesehatan sebagai agen edukasi dan pelaksana skrining faktor risiko dan deteksi dini kanker berbasis masyarakat. Pemanfaatan teknologi digital seperti aplikasi VWOMCARE mempermudah akses informasi kesehatan dan dapat mempercepat skrining faktor risiko dan deteksi dini kasus kanker pada wanita.

Abstract

The persistent difficulty in connecting abstract chemistry concepts with real-world socio-scientific issues highlights the need for well-designed digital learning innovations. This study aimed to develop and evaluate an Augmented Reality–based Smart Digital Interactive Learning Media (Smart-DIL) to support senior high school students’ socio-scientific reasoning and 21st-century skills. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, utilising the ADDIE model, which encompasses the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The evaluation stage involved a limited product try-out in authentic classroom settings to examine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed media. Data were collected from 72 eleventh-grade science students using the Socio-Scientific Reasoning Test (SSRT), the 21st Century Skills Scale (21CSS), classroom observations, interviews, and analysis of digital learning artifacts. Expert judgment and user response questionnaires were used to assess product feasibility and usability. The results indicate that Smart-Dil demonstrates high validity and practicality, as reflected in expert validation scores and positive responses from teachers and students. Evaluation evidence further shows that the implementation of Smart-Dil is associated with meaningful improvements in students’ socio-scientific reasoning, particularly in analyzing scientific evidence and constructing evidence-based arguments. In addition, positive developments were observed across all dimensions of 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. These findings support the integration of Augmented Reality technology within a socio-scientific pedagogical framework, as conceptualized in the proposed TPACK–SSI model. The study concludes that Smart-Dil represents a feasible, practical, and effective learning media product that can help bridge abstract chemistry concepts with authentic societal contexts. The results provide important implications for the development of future digital learning media grounded in Research and Development approaches.
