Abstract

This research examines the English-speaking needs of students in the English Department at the University of Muhammadiyah Maumere. Collecting and analyzing data on needs helps the lecturer identify gaps between what has been done and what remains to be done. A needs analysis can help establish and implement language policy with significant implications. In this case, the analysis includes students' speaking levels and investigates students’ wants and needs in speaking English. The participants of this research were students majoring in English Education and Literature Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Maumere. This research used a qualitative research design. To find a comprehensive perception of each student, focus group discussion (FGD) is used. The results showed that the existing shortcomings found that student's level of English speaking skills was very low, and students often were afraid to speak because they were worried about making mistakes. Students need presents that students must learn to be brave to speak English at the level of daily communication.  In addition, students’  desire found that students will use English speaking skills for job demands, they prefer pair or group projects in a teaching-learning process, and students prefer lecturers as facilitators and guides to improve speaking skills because they believe that poor speaking skills will have a negative impact on academic performance.

Abstract

Bumigora University developed a web-based library information and data processing system, while the contents of the development of the system were only limited to a single information system in which only admin operators handled the system without any direct interaction with library users, while in the analysis and development of the library system only limited to acquisition and return transactions with a system without involving library human resources, but there are problems that are still often encountered in the management of a library at Bumigora University, there is no guarantee of book safety in the library and the work system of library human resources is not yet optimal. Based on this, a Wireless RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Technology device is needed. This technology supports the identification of book library reshelving, book libraries, book returns with self-service which is expected to provide more accurate information, improve future library services in addition to complementing security aspects. The purpose of this study is to describe the opportunities for Wireless RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to be applied in the Bumigora University library. This study uses an explanatory theory that must be built by researchers based on general data in observations that must be analyzed, explained and interpreted, and uses qualitative methods. The results show that the use of RFID technology in libraries applies both to university libraries, regional libraries, school libraries and others. The use of RFID by Higher Education Libraries will greatly support the following: a. High Speed ​​Inventory System b. Fast Circulation Process The use of RFID will speed up a borrowing and returning circulation process. Therefore, the application of Wireless RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Technology in the Bumigora University library is needed to create a safe and professional library management.

Abstract

Blockchain sebagai teknologi akan mengubah cara transaksi bisnis terjadi dan pihak-pihak mengelola aset melalui internet. Meskipun secara sederhana digambarkan sebagai buku besar yang terdesentralisasi, teknologi ini menghilangkan perantara transaksi, memiliki potensi dalam menyediakan arus barang dan jasa yang efisien dan hemat biaya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perkembangan pelaporan akuntansi di Indonesia menggunakan sistem blockchain berdasarkan dari analisis studi literatur. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan studi literatur untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang implementasi transformasi akuntansi berbasis blockchain. Studi literatur merupakan metode dengan pengumpulan data dengan cara memahami dan mempelajari teori-teori dari berbagai literatur yang berhubungan dengan penelitian tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini adalah penggunaan blockchain dapat mengurangi biaya administrasi pada proses akuntansi tradisional, seperti biaya verifikasi, reconciling, dan pencatatan manual, pada bagian kepatuhan terhadap peraturan pada blockchain terdapat fitur Smart Contracts yang dapat diprogram. Faktor – faktor penggunaan blockchain dalam akuntansi antara lain ketidakpahaman tentang teknologi blockchain, regulasi dan kepatuhan, privasi dan keamanan, biaya implementasi, kesiapan industri dan penerimaan, dan kurangnya kasus penggunaan blockchain yang lebih jelas. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran terkait implementasi blockchain untuk pelaporan akuntansi secara realtime melalui fitur – fitur yang disediakan blockchain dan faktor – faktor yang mengakibatkan rendahnya implementasi blockchain pada pelaporan akuntansi untuk perkembangan bisnis.

Abstract

Seaweed is one of the sources of livelihood for fishermen besides catching fish. seaweed has a high economic value for the welfare of the people of Badaq Hamlet, Kertasari Village, East Lombok. In its development, seaweed farmers have experienced a decline in production in the last few years due to various factors including a shift in people's understanding of seaweed, fluctuating prices, and traditional planting methods. The community assistance program carried out by the community service team in collaboration with the local community through the theme of increasing the added value of seaweed businesses in coastal communities tries to solve the problem. The results of the mentoring program showed changes in the way coastal communities grow seaweed efficiently and more modern, the community recognizes and understands the types of seaweed that are suitable for cultivation in their place.

Abstract

This community engagement program, titled "The Art of Composing Research Titles: Simplifying Ideas, Maximizing Meaning," was designed to enhance the ability of students in the Management Program at Bumigora University to formulate effective, relevant, and academically appealing research titles. Employing the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the program involved 20 students and consisted of preparatory surveys, theoretical sessions, and hands-on training. Key topics included the characteristics of strong research titles, title formulation techniques for qualitative and quantitative methods, and practical revision of participants' initial drafts. Post-training evaluations indicated significant improvements, with 90% of participants successfully revising their titles to be more focused and concise. Additionally, 88% reported increased confidence in presenting their research ideas. The program's outcomes demonstrate its effectiveness in addressing students' challenges in title formulation while fostering critical and creative thinking. This initiative emphasizes the importance of structured and interactive learning processes in academic skill development.

Abstract

The rapid development of the financial sector has given rise to strategic issues such as fintech, crypto assets, green finance, ESG, and the impact of global trade wars, which require serious attention from academics, particularly students in economics and management. However, many students still face difficulties in formulating relevant research titles and writing scientific articles in accordance with academic standards. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of Management Study Program students at Universitas Bumigora in understanding contemporary financial issues and integrating them into academic writing. The activity was conducted using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through three stages: preparation, training implementation, and post-training. A total of 30 students participated in the training, which covered the introduction of financial issues, techniques for formulating research titles, and scientific writing practice. The results of the activity show an improvement in students' understanding of modern financial topics and their ability to formulate research titles and write more systematic academic paragraphs. This program is expected to encourage students to produce more relevant, high-quality, and contextually appropriate scientific work in response to current developments.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance English grammar learning among high school students by utilizing songs as an educational tool. The study addresses the issues of low motivation and the challenges students face in learning English grammar, often attributed to monotonous and non-contextual teaching methods. Conducted at SMAN 1 Gerung, West Lombok Regency, this community service activity involved a team of lecturers from Bumigora University. The methodology comprised planning, implementation, and evaluation phases. During the implementation stage, learning materials were presented using PowerPoint, followed by creating song lyrics from the studied sentences. Evaluations revealed improved student understanding of basic grammar, a more enjoyable learning environment, and increased motivation. These findings suggest that incorporating songs into grammar instruction can enhance learning effectiveness and boost student motivation.

Abstract

The EViews program training aims to enhance the quality of scientific work by management students at Bumigora University through mastering statistical data analysis. This community service activity is structured, including preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The preparation phase involves identifying participants' needs, developing the curriculum, and preparing training materials. During implementation, participants receive a basic understanding of statistical theory, demonstrations on using EViews, and hands-on practice with relevant case studies. Evaluation is conducted to assess participants' knowledge and skills through tests, project assessments, and feedback collection. The evaluation results indicate that the training successfully improved participants' ability to use EViews for data analysis, positively impacting the quality of their scientific work. Feedback from participants also suggests that the training is relevant to their academic needs and highly beneficial in overcoming challenges in statistical data processing. In conclusion, this EViews training effectively enhances students' competence in statistical data analysis and is expected to be implemented continuously to support students' academic and research activities in the future.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pelatihan dan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah dapat meningkatkan pemahaman serta penerapan dari penggunaan laporan keuangan sebagai dasar informasi dalam pengambilan keputusan ekonomis sehari-hari dalam rumah tangga keluarga khususnya pada siswi Madrasah Aliyah Tarbiyatul Mustafid. Materi pelatihan terdiri dari materi terkait konsep dasar akuntansi serta contoh praktek penggunaan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dengan memanfaatkan aplikasi excel dalam penyusunan laporan keuangan yang berfokus pada laporan keuangan laba rugi. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada hari Ahad, tanggal 17 November tahun 2024 di Gedung Madrasah Aliyah Tarbiyatul Mustaifd Batu Rimpang, Desa Badrain, Kecamatan Narmada, Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa peserta memiliki literasi akuntansi dasar, baik dari siklus akuntansi yaitu Pencatatan Transaksi ke dalam ayat Jurnal, kemudian memposting ke dalam Buku Besar, penyusunan Neraca Saldo, Penyesuaian, Kertas Kerja, hingga penyususnan Laporan Keuangan dengan menggunakan aplikasi excel. Serta, hasil dari proses penyusunan laporan keuangan dapat dijadikan bahan informasi yang berguna bagi para peserta dalam proses pengambilan keputusan ekonomis dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dalam keluarga.
