Abstract

This activity aims to provide education on waste and its potential dangers, while also conducting training on how to process household organic waste into compost. The activity was held in Sendangadi Village, Mlati, with 40 participants. It was a workshop where a speaker delivered a specific topic, followed by a discussion based on the presentation. In this training, participants were asked to bring organic waste, such as leftover green vegetables and fruit scraps from their household kitchens, to be used as materials for composting. The activity emphasized the importance of active community involvement in waste management, community-based composting methods, and the economic potential of compost as an alternative business opportunity. As a result of the activity, the community gained valuable knowledge about waste management. Additionally, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive from both village officials and participating residents. The participants demonstrated high enthusiasm and interest in applying the knowledge gained, particularly in practicing composting at home using organic waste as raw material a practical solution to reduce waste in their environment.

Abstract

Mathematical numeracy is a fundamental skill that students need to develop. Social media platforms like TikTok have the potential to support students in enhancing their mathematical numeracy skills. This study examines the effect of using TikTok on students' mathematical numeracy skills through a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design. The research sample consisted of 30 class XI science students from Senior High School of Muhammadiyah Mlati, Yogyakarta, selected using a nonprobability sampling technique. The learning process integrated TikTok as a supplementary learning medium, and learning outcomes were assessed using pretests and posttests with validated instruments. Data collection involved a questionnaire (10 items) regarding learning experiences with TikTok and a numeracy test (5 items). Simple linear regression analysis, conducted with SPSS-25, confirmed normal data distribution and a linear relationship between TikTok use and numeracy skills. The regression analysis yielded a significance value of 0.015 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of TikTok on students’ mathematical numeracy skills. The R Square value of 0.195 suggests that TikTok accounts for 19.5% of the improvement in numeracy skills, with the remaining 80.5% attributed to other factors. The n-Gain test result of 0.63 classifies the numeracy skill enhancement as moderate. These findings highlight TikTok’s effectiveness as an alternative learning medium for improving mathematical numeracy skills. This study implies that TikTok can be integrated into the teaching process as a supplementary tool to effectively enhance students’ mathematical numeracy skills.

Abstract

The objective of this training activity is to enhance the skills and understanding of the community regarding digital marketing. The training consists of three phases: pre-activity, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. It includes relevant materials, practical exercises, and evaluation tests, and was attended by 30 participants from the general public and MSME practitioners in Sleman Regency, held on July 26-27, 2024. The results show that 97% of participants passed the test, while 3% did not pass due to absence during the exam. The highest score achieved in the digital marketing training was 97.5 (by one participant), the lowest was 70 (by two participants), and the average evaluation score for each participant was 80.94. Overall, the training was successfully conducted and met the expected objectives.

Abstract

The current focus among educators is on assessments that promote higher-order thinking skills, enabling students to develop critical, analytical, and systematic thinking, especially in problem-solving, communication, and collaboration. Nonetheless, some teachers still struggle to create questions that effectively target these skills. This service initiative aims to educate 18 instructors from Muhammadiyah Mlati High School on crafting questions that address advanced cognitive abilities. Using a variety of methods, including lectures, interactive Q&A sessions, group discussions, and presentations, the results indicate that the training participants have successfully grasped the basic principles of designing questions for Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in education. After participating in four sessions, they have shown competence in categorizing and structuring questions that span Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), Medium Order Thinking Skills (MOTS), and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).

Abstract

This research aims to increase interest in learning mathematics in class XI students at SMA Muhammadiyah Mlati in the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year by implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This research uses a classroom action research method with a qualitative approach, involving 30 students as research subjects. Data collection methods include observation, questionnaires, and tests. Observations were made to understand students' learning interests, while questionnaires and tests were used to assess mastery of the Matrix material and the effectiveness of learning using the CTL model. Data analysis includes observation analysis, questionnaire analysis, and learning evaluation. This research shows the results of an increase after implementing the CTL model in Matrix learning in class XI MIPA. By implementing the CTL model, students' interest in learning increased, as evidenced by the results of observations which showed an increase in scores from the initial stage, cycle I, to cycle II, with a score reaching 3.62 which was categorized as very high. Students' ability to understand Matrix material also increased to reach an average score of 78.27 in cycle II.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the need for teaching materials that are suitable for use in the 21st century, such as utilizing technology in using teaching materials for classroom learning. The use of teaching materials such as worksheets at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta has implemented a scientific approach but has not been combined with the use of technology. The use of technology in learning is very diverse and can be realized in various supporting applications, one of which is flipbooks. Therefore, it is necessary to use scientific worksheets using the flipbook application. This research designs scientifically based flip worksheets for the subject Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables that are valid and practical at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta. Research and Development Methods using the ADDIE model will help achieve the objectives of this research accurately. With the support of instruments such as subject matter experts, media experts, and input from class VIII students, the development of flip worksheets produced very valid results in terms of content and media, with percentages of 94.23% and 90.00% respectively. Meanwhile, for the practical aspect, students gave a percentage of 72.60%, categorizing flip worksheets that were designed as practical.
