Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk membongkar stereotip terhadap perempuan yang terdapat dalam novel yang berkaitan dengan fenomena sosial melalui pemaknaan dibalik bahasa. Isu gender sebagai salah satu realitas sosial yang menarik perhatian untuk diteliti. Hal menarik tersebut diungkap melalui perspektif wacana kritis Sara Milss. Metode penelitian menggunakan deskriptif analisis. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini berupa data tertulis yang terdapat dalam novel serta data pendukung berupa hasil studi pustaka penelitian dalam bentuk jurnal dari situs internet. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah telaah pustaka, simak-catat, dan reflektif-introspektif, Instrumen dalam penelitian ini peneliti sebagai instrumen utama. Keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi teori. Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa level teks pada posisi subjek-objek dalam wacana tergambar bahwa posisi subjek ketika perempuan (tokoh Nisa dan Rani) menampilkan dirinya dan eksistensinya dalam teks menghadapi persoalan melawan ketidakadilan dari dominasi patriarki. Posisi subjek dan objek dalam cerita dipertukarkan untuk mencerminkan konflik emosional, moral, dan gender. Posisi penulis cenderung sebagai narator yang memanfaatkan narasi-narasi dari tokoh Nisa dan Rani serta posisi pembaca diarahkan untuk bersimpati pada tokoh perempuan Nisa dan memberikan sanksi sosial kepada tokoh Rani dan Aris.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to uncover the cultural meanings in the text of the Treaty of Tellumpoccoe using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, which includes three levels of analysis: denotation, connotation, and myth. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a semiotic approach. Data were obtained through literature study and text analysis, then interpreted using Barthes' theoretical framework. The results of the study show that in the denotative meaning, the text of the Tellumpoccoe Agreement contains practical rules regarding solidarity, prohibition of interfering in the affairs of other kingdoms, loyalty to promises, commitment to military assistance, and prohibition of seizing property. In the connotative meaning, this text reflects Bugis cultural values, such as sipakatau (humanizing each other), siri (self-respect), assitinajang (equality), pacinna (loyalty), and paccing (honesty). Meanwhile, in the mythical meaning, the Tellumpoccoe text presents the ideology of the sacred unity of the Bugis people which is eternal, strong, and has divine legitimacy through Dewata Seuwae. The conclusion of this study confirms that the Tellumpoccoe Treaty is not merely a political document, but also a representation of Bugis cultural values ​​that shape the collective identity of its people. These values ​​remain relevant today as guidelines for maintaining brotherhood, solidarity, and honor in Bugis culture amidst changing times.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the types of expressive speech acts used by the characters in the film Qodrat (2022) and their function in character development and the storyline. This film was chosen because, in addition to its horror genre, it also contains strong Islamic and spiritual values, making it an interesting object for pragmatic studies. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and a case study design. Primary data were obtained from the dialogues of the characters in Qodrat, while secondary data were obtained from supporting literature. Data collection techniques were carried out using listening and note-taking techniques. The analysis was conducted based on the speech act theory proposed by John Searle and Wijana's opinion on expressive speech acts. The results show that in Qodrat, various types of expressive speech acts are present, such as expressions of congratulations, thanks, apologies, praise, blame, and condolences. The function of these expressive speech acts not only describes the characters' emotional states but also strengthens the narrative meaning and creates a horror and religious atmosphere in the film.
