Abstract

The integrative approach in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Learning is a paradigmatic response to the challenges of disintegration of knowledge, educational dualism, and the reduction of spirituality that are still emerging in modern educational practices. This research aims to comprehensively examine the philosophical, conceptual, and implementive foundations of the integrative approach in PAI learning, as well as formulate operational models that are relevant to the needs of 21st century learning. This research uses a literature method with themetical-critical analysis of various classical and contemporary Islamic literature, national education policies, and empirical research related to the integration of knowledge. The results of the study show that the integrative paradigm rests on the epistemology of monotheism which views religious science and general science as a complementary unit, not a dichotom. The implementation of an integrative approach in PAI learning results in three main forms: concept integration, value integration, and pedagogical action integration. All three have been proven to increase the relevance of learning, depth of understanding, and internalization of Islamic values through contextual and holistic learning. This study concludes that an integrative approach is not just a methodological choice, but a strategic need to build an adaptive, moderate, and spiritual character strengthening Islamic education ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract Fiqh of worship is commonly taught through conventional approaches such as lectures and memorization. As a result, students often understand the textual aspects of worship but lack practical skills and deep internalization of religious values. This article analyzes the implementation of game-based learning as an innovative model suitable for digital native learners in teaching fiqh of worship. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing books, journals, previous research, and the author’s reflection on classroom practice. The findings show that game-based learning increases students’ motivation, active participation, conceptual understanding, and worship practice skills. Furthermore, this article proposes a model of game-based learning implementation in teaching ablution, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The study implies the importance of teachers’ digital literacy, ability in educational game design, and integration of spiritual values within game activities so that fiqh learning becomes more contextual, enjoyable, and meaningful. Abstract

The integration of social media into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning represents a form of pedagogical adaptation to the development of 21st-century digital technology. Social media function not only as communication tools but also as platforms for collaborative learning among students that support the deep learning approach and the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aims to examine how social media such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Instagram are utilized to build reflective interaction, strengthen metacognition, and foster students’ critical thinking skills within the context of PAI learning. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method through observations of social media–based learning activities among senior high school students. The findings indicate that well-directed use of social media can enhance spiritual communication, broaden learning engagement, and cultivate collaboration and empathy among students. Therefore, the integration of social media can function as a learning ecosystem that enriches the practice of Islamic education in the digital era. Abstract

This study examines and compares the practice of multiculturalism in Indonesia and Malaysia by situating it within their respective historical trajectories, policy frameworks, and implementation patterns in social and educational contexts. The research employs a qualitative library research design, drawing on relevant scholarly literature in the social sciences, religious studies, and the humanities. Data were analyzed using content analysis and a comparative approach, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicate that multicultural practices in Indonesia and Malaysia exhibit both similarities and differences shaped by each country's historical, cultural, and political contexts. In Indonesia, multiculturalism is grounded in the national motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, whereas in Malaysia it is articulated through the principle of unity embodied in the Rukun Negara. At the policy level, Indonesia constitutionally recognizes diversity through inclusive measures, such as the public recognition of religious holidays and support for the preservation of local cultures. In contrast, Malaysia adopts a National Cultural Policy, which some groups have criticized for its limited sensitivity to cultural diversity. Linguistically, Indonesian functions as a unifying national language across diverse ethnic groups, while Malaysia recognizes Malay, English, and Chinese as official languages, reflecting its multicultural composition and educational arrangements. In terms of religion, Indonesia formally acknowledges and protects multiple religions and the rights of religious minorities. In contrast, Malaysia grants Islam a privileged position as the state's official religion.
