Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of religious understanding, social welfare and community cultural values on the sacredness of Astana Dua in Kampung Pasir Kaur, Weninggalih Village, Sindangkerta District, West Bandung Regency. The research method uses a quantitative approach with inferential statistical analysis. The research results prove that each independent variable (x1, x2 and x3) either partially or jointly has an influence on the dependent variable (Y). Strictly speaking, this study can accept and prove the hypothesis which states that, together the variables X1, X2 and X3 have a very strong influence on the Astana Dua Sacrality with a correlation coefficient of 0.941 and the significance of the ANOVA test (F test) is at a value of 0.000. The coefficient of determination together is 88.50%, and the remaining 11.50% is the influence of factors other than religious understanding, social welfare and cultural values that require further research. the implications for community education in Kampung Pasir Kaur are profound. Educational initiatives must be thoughtfully designed to balance religious, economic, and cultural learning, promoting a well-rounded understanding that respects and upholds the community’s traditional values and sacred sites. This integrated approach can serve as a model for other communities facing similar challenges, providing a blueprint for education that supports cultural preservation while fostering socioeconomic and spiritual growth.

Abstract

This study explores the integration and sustainability of local values in character education within the context of Community Learning Centers (CLCs) in Indonesia, focusing on PKBM Melati Batujajar. Employing a case study approach within a qualitative research framework, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, participant observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal the critical role of local values such as "gotong royong" (mutual cooperation), "musyawarah" (deliberation), "kepedulian" (care for others), and "tanggung jawab" (responsibility) in fostering empathy, collaboration, and accountability among learners. These values are integrated into CLC curricula through storytelling, role-playing, collaborative projects, and experiential learning, effectively contextualizing education within the learners' cultural environment. However, challenges such as the lack of standardized curricula, resource constraints, and the influence of globalization pose barriers to sustainability. To address these, the study recommends localized curricula, targeted facilitator training, and community-driven initiatives augmented by digital tools to harmonize tradition with modernity. By bridging the gap between local cultural heritage and contemporary pedagogical practices, this research contributes to the broader discourse on culturally responsive education and provides actionable strategies for preserving local values in non-formal education settings.

Abstract

This article explores the contributions of Bank Sampah (Waste Bank) to economic empowerment and community participation in waste management, based on a systematic review of literature published between 2014 and 2024. The review highlights how Bank Sampah initiatives serve as effective tools for generating supplementary income for low-income households, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering local economic development through waste recycling. In addition to their economic impact, Bank Sampah programs contribute significantly to community engagement by encouraging residents to take an active role in waste segregation and environmental stewardship. The review identifies the challenges that affect the sustainability of these programs, including financial dependency, infrastructure limitations, and cultural barriers. Despite these challenges, the Bank Sampah model has demonstrated considerable potential in enhancing social capital, empowering marginalized groups, and promoting environmental awareness. The findings underscore the need for policy support, robust community education, and strategic partnerships to ensure the long-term viability and scalability of Bank Sampah programs. This review provides valuable insights into how waste management initiatives can contribute to sustainable socio-economic development and environmental sustainability at the community level.
