Abstract

Introduction: Maternal mortality remains a critical global health challenge, with approximately 287,000 pregnancy-related deaths recorded in 2020 (WHO, 2024). In Indonesia, where maternal healthcare access varies significantly, digital interventions may offer scalable solutions. This quasi-experimental study evaluates the effectiveness of an Android-based prenatal education application in improving knowledge and attitudes among first-time mothers in Cimahi, West Java. By comparing app-based learning with traditional methods, we assess whether mobile technology can help bridge gaps in maternal health education and contribute to safer pregnancy outcomes. Methods: This quasi-experimental study involved 120 first-trimester primigravida women (60 intervention, 60 control) in Cimahi City. The independent variable was the use of an Android-based prenatal education application; dependent variables were maternal knowledge and attitudes. Instruments included a validated 20-item knowledge test and a 10-item attitude Likert scale. Data were analyzed using paired and independent t-tests, as well as SmartPLS path modeling.  Results: In the intervention group, knowledge scores increased from 19.8 ± 2.1 to 34.3 ± 2.0, and attitude scores improved from 8.2 ± 1.2 to 13.3 ± 2.8 (p < 0.001). The control group showed smaller, non-significant changes (knowledge: 19.5 ± 2.2 to 21.5 ± 2.6; attitude: 7.3 ± 1.5 to 8.3 ± 1.6). Post-test differences between groups were statistically significant (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The Android-based prenatal education application significantly enhanced the knowledge and attitudes of first-time pregnant women. These findings support the integration of digital education into routine antenatal care services.

Abstract

Effective clinical communication is a fundamental element in ensuring patient safety. ISBAR3 (Identification, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation, Read-back, Risk) as a structured communication method has the potential to transform the culture of patient safety in nursing practice. This study critically analyzes the implementation of ISBAR3 in the Indonesian nursing literature for the 2018-2023 period through a qualitative methodology based on a literature study. The results of the analysis revealed the multidimensional impact of ISBAR3 on improving the quality of nursing handover, patient satisfaction, and reducing safety incidents. Factors supporting and inhibiting implementation include teamwork, organizational learning, workload, and management support. Implementation optimization requires a comprehensive approach including contextual adaptation, capacity building, system integration, policy support, and continuous evaluation. The transformation of patient safety culture through ISBAR3 represents a fundamental shift from a reactive to a proactive paradigm in Indonesian healthcare.

Abstract

Introduction: Self-efficacy is a key factor influencing diabetes self-management, with higher self-efficacy linked to better adherence to self-care and reduced complications. The Diabetic Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES), a 15-item Likert questionnaire, assesses self-efficacy in diet, exercise, blood glucose monitoring, therapy, and foot care. This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of DMSES for use among patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited 30 adults with diabetes mellitus, with 26 participants completing the questionnaire. The study was conducted in three stages: (1) translation, (2) content validation, and (3) validity and reliability testing. Forward–backward translation was applied to ensure linguistic and cultural accuracy. Content validity was assessed by a panel of five experts who rated item relevance, and the content validity index (CVI) was calculated. Item validity was examined by correlating individual item scores with total scores, while internal consistency reliability was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha. Results: During translation, four items were modified to improve cultural and language clarity. The content validity assessment yielded a CVI of 1.00, indicating excellent agreement among experts. Item analysis demonstrated moderate to strong correlations (r = 0.550–0.867), with all correlation values exceeding the critical r table value (0.388), confirming item validity. The internal consistency reliability test produced a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.934, signifying excellent reliability across all items. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the DMSES demonstrates strong content validity and high reliability, making it a valid and reliable instrument for measuring self-efficacy in patients with diabetes mellitus. These findings support the use of DMSES in future research and clinical practice in Indonesia to assess and strengthen diabetes self-management behaviors.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease that is at risk of causing various complications including microvascular and macrovascular complications. It therefore needs to be controlled through the implementation of diabetes self-management on a regular daily basis. The factor that plays a role in influencing diabetes self-management is self-efficacy, therefore it is necessary to make efforts to increase self-efficacy through an educational program. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to design and validate educational materials to improve self-efficacy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: The method used consists of two phases, namely 1) design; and 2) validation of educational materials. The design of the educational materials followed the recommendations provided by Hoffman while the content followed the guidelines of the Association of Diabetes Educators. Validation was conducted including validation by experts and validation by representatives of the DM patient population using validity instruments. Results: The educational materials compiled consisted of six units, namely self-efficacy; diet (meal planning); exercise; therapy, independent blood sugar monitoring; and foot care. The results of validation by experts obtained an approval rate of 87.65%, while the results of validation from population representatives reached 99.04% approval. Conclusions: The educational materials compiled or designed have met the provisions of valid or feasible to be used as educational materials for type 2 DM patients. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus Self-Efficacy, Education, validation of educational materials

Methods : This study, conducted in Depok, Indonesia, aimed to assess postpartum depression knowledge among women with single deliveries, postpartum days 10-3 months, and normal babies, using the PoDLiS test and Beck Depression Inventory II. Results : The Pearson correlation coefficient was utilized to examine the relationship between postpartum literacy and postpartum depression in women. This study included about 310 women. The average age was 31.56 years (with a standard deviation of 5.37 years). Postpartum literacy was found to be linked with postpartum depression (r=0.453, p0.05). Conclusions : Postpartum depression was linked to postpartum literacy. All women attending postnatal clinics should be subjected to simple screening measures early in the postpartum period, and this should continue for at least a year or two after birth.

Abstract

The study conducted a bibliometric analysis of the impact of anxieties on patients with chronic kidney disease in an effort to lessen patient anxiety. This bibliometric analysis looks at research activities in Indonesia and globally using publication data from the Scopus database. In bibliometric analysis, quantitative techniques are employed to assess data and generate representative images. It is acknowledged that this study is a valuable tool for assessing research topic characteristics, publication outputs, and composition and structure. Between 1955 and 2023, attempts to lower anxiety through cognitive behavioral and logotherapy were successful, despite a lack of significant overall growth.
