Abstract

Water tower buildings using the SWRO (Sea Water Reverse Osmosis) system are needed as part of processing sea water into clean water. So that it can be used by the local community to meet their daily needs. In this research we designed a water building in the SWRO system by analyzing it using the FEM method. The upper frame is made from gray cast ATM A48 material with grade 25 with a C channel type profile measuring 80x8 mm. Meanwhile, the supporting frame is made of gray cast ATM A48 material with grade 25 with an L type profile with dimensions of 40x40x3 mm and 30x30x3 mm. The largest stress load stimulation was obtained at 415.8 MPa on the upper frame, which indicates it is in the safe category. Meanwhile, the largest displacement value was 60.46 mm for the upper frame. This shows that the design of water structures in the SWRO system in this research can be classified as safe.

Abstract

Ships as the main mode of transportation that has a strategic role in trade transportation, the trade supply chain really needs proper operations. The operational of the ship is greatly influenced by the performance of the main engine. One of the critical components of the main engine is the exhaust valve which functions to regulate the release of exhaust gas from the combustion chamber to the exhaust manifold. The research is qualitative, collecting data through observation, documentation, and interviews. The event tree analysis (ETA) method is implemented the sequence of impacts produced by exhaust valve, such as high working temperatures, low engine performance, and standard functions described in the manual book so that leaks can be identified. So, From this analysis, the impacts that are traced sequentially to the performance of the exhaust valve itself can also be found. In addition, a fishbone diagram is used to describe the factors that cause leaks, including human error, managerial deficiencies, neglected inspections, and errors in maintenance techniques. Thus, the right handling can be found to overcome exhaust valve leaks, such as repairs required while the engine is stopped, repeated spare part submissions from ship management, conducting spindle thickness inspections, and improving maintenance techniques as specified in the engine manual book. Proper and effective preventive and handling actions based on the root causes outlined are essential to ensure proper operation of the machine.

Abstract

Abstract

One type of auxiliary machinery on the ship is a refrigerator systemthat is used to store food supplies to keep them in fresh condition and not quickly damaged or rotten. The purpose of this study is to provide an analysis of the maintenance management model on the refrigerator system so that it can function optimally and predict the possibility of existing damage. The method used is mix method research by combining quantitative and qualitative designs to provide an overview of the problems and solutions provided to the refrigerator system. The results show that the Filter Dryer has the highest damage rate (25%) and the lowest MTBF (864 hours). The discharge pressure has increased from the standard provisions of 250, but in reality it rose to 275, so that it has a deviation of +10%. The discharge pressure deviation indicates a potential problem with the compressor. Limited spare parts inventory is often a complaint of the chief engineer in carrying out maintenance of refrigerator system. The impact of this research shows that the existing maintenance program needs to be restructured. This restructuring could include rescheduling maintenance activities, allocating resources more effectively, as well as implementing a risk- or condition-based approach to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.

Abstract

The Fresh Water Generator (FWG) is a device on ships that converts seawater into freshwater through the processes of evaporation and condensation. FWG is essential for various purposes such as consumption, washing, and engine cooling. This study aims to address three main research questions: what maintenance methods are applied to the FWG evaporator plate, how does the FWG perform before and after maintenance, and how effective is the system after the maintenance is conducted. The research was carried out on the MV CNC Jawa by analyzing the effectiveness of maintenance on the FWG Type AQUA-125-HW evaporator plate through direct observation, interviews with ship crew, and analysis of logbook data. The evaluation used a fishbone diagram to identify the factors contributing to decreased maintenance effectiveness, including human resources, maintenance methods, materials, and machinery. The results show that both preventive and corrective maintenance—such as routine cleaning and the use of Ameroyal chemical agents—successfully improved heat transfer efficiency. Freshwater production increased from 5–8 tons/day to 13 tons/day, energy consumption decreased, and FWG operation became more stable. The evaluation concludes that proper maintenance strategies and crew training are essential in ensuring the reliability of the FWG and the overall operational efficiency of the vessel.

Abstract

This study examines how employee capabilities and technology-mediated channels shape well-being in hierarchical hotel contexts marked by coercive leadership. Drawing on Approach–Avoidance Motivation and Diffusion of Innovation, we theorize a resource-and-channels model in which (a) Exapro-a capability bundle combining professional experience and proactive personality-enhances employee well-being, and (b) electronic diffusion of innovation (e-DOI) strengthens the welfare returns to Exapro by providing safer, auditable pathways for idea sharing when face-to-face voice is risky. We test the model using a three-wave longitudinal design across 26 three- to five-star hotels in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Indonesia) with N = 100 employees concentrated in frontline, rotating-shift roles. Using PLS-SEM (SmartPLS 4), measurement properties met recommended thresholds. Results show that the direct effect of despotic leadership on well-being is not significant (H1 rejected) once resources and channels are modeled. By contrast, despotic leadership positively predicts Exapro (H2 supported), Exapro positively predicts well-being (H3 supported), and e-DOI positively moderates the Exapro → well-being link (H4 supported). The model explains a moderate share of variance in well-being (R² ≈ .52). The findings reframe leader–well-being debates by demonstrating a suppressed/contingent direct effect of despotism and highlighting that what employees can do (Exapro) and how they can safely make it visible (e-DOI) are pivotal for sustaining well-being. Practically, hotels should build experience-based scripts, select/develop for proactivity, and institutionalize digital codification of micro-innovations while strengthening leadership accountability.
