Abstract

This study aims to measure the practicality of science process skills-based electronic student worksheet in the Biology and Environmental Concepts course of a Primary School Teacher Education Program at the University of Jambi. In this study, practicality refers to students' perceptions of ease of use, clarity of language, attractiveness of appearance, practicality in learning, practicality of science process skills-based activities, and efficiency of use. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach involving 27 primary school education students as respondents. The research instrument is a questionnaire on the practicality of the electronic student worksheet consisting of 12 statements and analyzed using the Rasch Model with the help of Winsteps software. The Rating Scale Model was used because all items employed the same five-point response categories. The analysis was carried out to obtain the person and item reliability values, separation index, item suitability to the model, and mapping of respondent abilities and item difficulty levels. The results of the analysis show that the person reliability value is 0.82 (real) and 0.85 (model), with a Cronbach Alpha value of 0.93 which indicates the consistency of student responses in the very high category. The low item separation indicated limited spread of item difficulty and was interpreted as preliminary evidence of positive but homogeneous practicality perceptions rather than as definitive proof of broad usability. The person separation value of 2.14 (real) and 2.35 (model) indicates that the instrument is able to group respondents into three levels of practicality perception. All statement items were found to fit the Rasch Model with Infit and Outfit Mean Square (MNSQ) values ranging from 0.5 to 1.5. Wright mapping showed that the item difficulty level ranged from -0.62 to 1.10 logit and was below the average respondent's ability (mean person measure = 2.62 logit), indicating that the electronic student worksheet was generally easy to use and understand by students. Thus, the findings provide preliminary, context-bound evidence that the science process skills-based electronic student worksheet is practical for the sampled cohort and can be refined before wider implementation.

Abstract

The implementation of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in the Independent Curriculum faces challenges in the form of differences in student learning abilities that make it difficult for teachers to realize learner-centered learning. This study aims to describe teachers' pedagogical experiences in overcoming student learning difficulties in IPAS learning. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design and was conducted in three elementary schools in Batang Hari Regency, Jambi Province, Indonesia. The study participants consisted of fifth-grade teachers who were purposively selected based on their experience teaching IPAS. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that teachers' pedagogical experiences are reflected in three main stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. Teachers overcome student learning difficulties through the application of contextual learning, the use of learning media, peer tutoring, group discussions, and individual mentoring. Reflection on the learning process plays an important role in helping teachers refine learning practices to be more responsive to students' learning needs.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology underscores the importance of teachers’ ability to adapt and integrate digital tools into the learning process. To ensure the effective implementation of such technological adaptation in schools, continuous support and mentoring from educational partners are essential. This community service activity aimed to train teachers at SDN 205 Jambi in creating educational games using Wordwall, a web-based application that offers various engaging game templates. The training was conducted through several stages: material presentation, trial of educational games, hands-on practice in designing Wordwall-based games, and subsequent evaluation and reflection. As a result of this program, teachers successfully developed a range of educational games relevant to their classroom subjects. The level of teacher satisfaction with the training was evaluated using a quantitative approach through a Likert-scale questionnaire covering four dimensions: training content, facilitators, facilities and media, and overall satisfaction. The results revealed that teachers reported a very high level of satisfaction across all aspects of the training. The relevance of the training materials achieved an average score of 4,48 (very high category), while the facilitator quality received an average score of 4,49 (very high category). The facilities and instructional media were rated 4.46, also classified as very high. The final indicator, overall satisfaction, achieved an average score of 4,59, placing it firmly within the very high category. These findings highlight the importance of continuous, technology-oriented professional development programs to strengthen elementary school teachers’ digital competencies and support the integration of innovative learning tools in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of critical thinking skills with the problem-based learning model in IPAS learning for fourth grade elementary school students. This research was conducted at SDN 64/I Muara Bulian, Muara Bulian sub-district, Batanghari district, Jambi province. The form of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) using a qualitative approach. The research data was obtained by means of observation, interviews, and documentation. This research was conducted in two cycles, where each cycle of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data collection in this study was carried out through interviews, observation through observation sheets of students’ critical thinking skills, observation sheets of educator activities carrying out learning activities, and documentation. The results of this study were an increase in critical thinking skills in fourth grade students at SDN 64/I Muara Bulian after applying the problem-based learning model at each meeting in each cycle

Abstract

This research  aims to describe the development process, level of validity, and level of practicality of interactive learning media assisted by Kodular on the material of energy transformation in grade IV of Elementary School. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Lee and Owens development model which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection techniques are carried out through interview sheets, validation questionnaires by experts, and practicality questionnaires by teachers and students. The results of media validation were carried out in two stages with an average value of 4 with the "valid" category in the first stage and 4.46 with the "very valid" category in the second stage. Material validation also showed an increase from an average of 4.58 with the "very valid" category to 4.83 with the "very valid" category, while language validation increased from an average of 3.7 with the "valid" category to 4.5 with the "very valid" category after revision. In addition, the results of the practicality test can be seen based on the results of the teacher response questionnaire which obtained an average score of 4.8 with the category "very practical" and the student questionnaire showed that in the small group trial an average score of 4.26 was obtained with the category "very practical", and in the large group trial an average score of 4.38 was obtained with the category "very practical".

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan E-LKPD berbasis model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada pembelajaran IPAS materi siklus air yang valid dan praktis untuk siswa kelas V Sekolah Dasar Negeri 112/IX Maro Sebo. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan model ADDIE yang meliputi tahap Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan angket. Hasil validasi menunjukkan tingkat kevalidan yang sangat tinggi, dengan persentase 97% dari ahli materi, 91% dari ahli bahasa, dan 90% dari ahli media, sehingga produk dinyatakan sangat valid dari aspek materi, bahasa, dan media. Hasil uji kepraktisan berdasarkan angket respon siswa memperoleh persentase 80% dan angket respon guru sebesar 90% dengan kategori sangat baik atau sangat praktis. Dengan demikian, E-LKPD berbasis model PBL yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid dan praktis untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran IPAS materi siklus air di kelas V sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Background. Argumentation skills are essential competencies in 21st-century science education, particularly for pre-service primary school teachers. However, students’ scientific argumentation skills remain relatively low, especially in constructing claims, using evidence, and providing scientific reasoning. Innovative learning models that integrate contextual and argumentative learning experiences are therefore needed in higher education. Purpose. This study analyzed the need for developing a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) to enhance the argumentation skills of pre-service primary school teachers. Method. A descriptive survey design was employed involving 35 pre-service primary school teachers from Universitas Jambi and 5 lecturers teaching science education courses at several Indonesian universities. Data were collected using open-ended and close-ended questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive statistical analysis and qualitative categorization techniques. Results. Students perceived the current condition of science learning at a moderate level (M = 3.40), while lecturers reported a higher perception (M = 4.35), indicating that although science learning has provided discussion opportunities, it has not yet systematically supported students’ scientific argumentation skills. The integration of PBL and SSI in current instructional practices received high ratings from both groups (students: M = 4.18; lecturers: M = 4.48). Notably, the strongest agreement was found regarding the need to develop a PBL-SSI integrated model (students: M = 4.61; lecturers: M = 4.82), confirming a strong demand for a structured learning model to better support scientific argumentation among pre-service teachers. Conclusion. Developing a PBL-SSI integrated learning model is necessary to support the improvement of argumentation skills among pre-service primary school teachers. These findings serve as a foundation for designing innovative science learning models that promote scientific argumentation, critical thinking, and contextual learning in Indonesian higher education.
